There are 17 toss who have failed to qualify. There are 19 terran who have failed to qualify. Obviously there are simply a lot more Terrans in the preliminaries than there are Protoss, which should give you the "disadvantage" you take Protoss to be at. Likewise, it seems that zerg has more players as well. Someone posted this in the other thread for today's qualifying: Show nested quote + Each season seems to pass by quickly and now only the Finals are left for GSL Season 2. The Season 3 Preliminaries will be next week on Nov. 15th and 16th. The maps for the Preliminary Rounds are, Set 1 : Xel’Naga Caverns Set 2 : Metalopolis Set 3 : Scrap Station The proportions for each race are, Terran : 39.5% Protoss : 33% Zerg : 23.9% Random : 3.6% The matches will be best of 3 matches. We hope that everyone coming over for the preliminaries does well and have fun participating. Thank you. GOMtv.net Yea, I see your point, but those statistics are just statistics BEFORE the players show up ![]()

All balance-QQ aside for one moment, I just like to state that protoss now has officially the lowest number of representatives percentage-wise OF ALL 3 GSL - worse than zerg in GSL 1 where everybody was "omfg zerg suxx wtf blizz fuuu". Therefore I think it's a bit funny how much resentments you still see around here if people complain about toss weakness, especially by zergs....give us a break for once will you? Therefore I think it's a bit funny how much resentments you still see around here if people complain about toss weakness, especially by zergs....give us a break for once will you? We had to endure your balance-QQ for 2 whole months for crying out loud! I think the main problem is that tosses can't really articulate why they're losing. With zergs early on, ZvT weakness could be explained by the fact that Terrans had a wide variety of early-game options, and Zergs could not scout to figure out which option they needed to prepare against. ZvP was a little more complicated, but the main gripe from Zergs was that Protosses' very early game options (zealot pressure/cannon rush) kept Zerg at a disadvantage from the beginning, and Protosses were able to use forcefields and colossi to demolish any Zerg army short of Ultras in an engagement. I haven't heard a similar level of detailed argument from Tosses as to why PvZ and PvT are currently difficult. So while the QQing of Zergs was given a lot of respect, Protoss QQ will probably be written off until someone steps up and develops a theory as to why Toss is UP.

No one is standing out and no one is coming up with crazygood strats in GSL. The funny thing is they have a whole bunch of tools at their disposal. at the moment I feel like protoss just needs more of a harass tool, like reavers in brood war. As soon as something is figured out, hopefully it can turn around a little bit, but at the moment we're so straight forward attack with a brute army.

Unfortunately both the colossus and immortal drops were nerfed which makes it difficult to pull off. The top players though seem to think it is more about the gimmicky nature of there defense. I missed FF at the beginning can mean you just lose so you seem to have less room for errors. On topic: I counted 5 foreigners qualifying (Idra Fighting) I am sad though that none of the Chinese players made it. I would have liked to see Loner play again to draw in more Chinese fans. It seems though that china may count Sen (in one of the national tournaments I think he played under the Chinese flag). If so then maybe he can take this and help involve them in Esports.

So while the QQing of Zergs was given a lot of respect, Protoss QQ will probably be written off until someone steps up and develops a theory as to why Toss is UP. This is very true, nevertheless I'm convinced that it's indeed much more complicated with Toss - Toss suffer from a huge variety of "small" stuff, while not having any "obvious" problem. Therefore many people try to QQ about many different stuff, which makes toss seem like crybabies who like to complain about everything. But while changing "everything" certainly isn't a valid option, ppl need to understand that it's all those "little" things that lead to problems when combined. Just to name the mule: in theory perfectly fine, evens up chrono-boosting probes. Nevertheless it allows for insane comebacks, allows for mineral-boosting like crazy when a CC is lifted to the gold, etc. You can't really "articulate" it, or even found it with theory-craft, because theory-craft tells us that's fine. Nevertheless after losing games due to Terran comebacks after having lost countless SCVs, this is definitely something worth considering. Also the general problem of zealots being awsome when they "can" hit and being crappy when they can NOT. Balancing melee units in general is extremely difficult. But one problem of zealots vs terran is, that even with charge zealots still require perfect positioning AND force-fields, otherwise they just die without doing any damage..like...at all. Then there is the problem of the huge variety of terran timing-pushs - none of these timing-pushs is incredibly overpowered in "itself", it's the problem that terran can play standard an be fine while ALSO having many timing-pushs protoss has to account for in his gaming-plan. Terran doesn't have to account for anything except a 4-gate. Again, how do you articulate this? By claiming each one of these timing pushes is OP? Most definitely not. By claiming only one of those is OP? Doesn't touch the core of the problem.... EDIT: just realized that I wasn't posting in the "why is protoss doing so bad..."-thread, SORRY, didn't want to ruin this thread!
