Any idea what lzgamer could do? not keep floating 800+ minerals and probably as much gas all the time maybe ? The only reason he kept expanding is because his macro is terribad and kept stockpiling ressources, let alone keeping up with upgrades (cause mech is actually good if you keep up with upgrades). No wonder ret steamrolled him If you paid any attention to the resource tab, ret was actually at higher resource most of the game. The difference in resource early game didn't make the difference, lz didn't play that badly but ret's play was near perfect. He scouted and stopped all drops, he expanded a LOT in order to stay ahead in worker production, built the correct units and teched extremely quickly. LZ didn't do so much wrong play as much as ret destroyed any moves LZ made.

Well then you really missed something, he played an epic hilarious game against TorcH. His creep spread was great and his macro was respectable, but the game had an unserious feel about it, so I don't know how much you can tell from it.

Any idea what lzgamer could do? Not mech? Yeah, did you ever played bio against a zerg going baneling? Foxer did, and succeeded. Foxer is only the best player in the world... You don't benchmark yourself against how bad you are right now, you try to improve to a level where you can do things that the best can. It's how you improve. Foxer showed with proper control, marines aren't actually too bad against blings. Work on your control. It's not like you'll be playing people with perfect bling control anyway.

Exactly this. Or MMThor. I do not know why all these "good players" play so passive vs Z.

If you play in the big leagues you run into the really good players sooner or later. Ret was,i don't know how many years, one of the strongest Broodwar players outside Korea and he just gets better and better. He actually trained in a korean team for a while. He just one class better, than most other players, just like Idra is. Hope he can keep it up.

He did make some mistakes - ie giving away free units, losing loaded overlords - but the speed at which he shot up on worker count and expansions and tech is truly scary. Ret is a force to be contended with.
