If The Emperor makes it to the finals site and streams will be flooded with so many viewers :|
They'll have to need a new stadium LOL

But still GomTV should hype it up even more if the Emperor makes it to the finals.

He's born in 1993, so I think they add a year.

Just gonna build marines today.

I agree with both the fact that Koreans are born a year extra and an additional year every Lunar New Year and I agree that the basic marine unit which costs only 50 minerals is Foxer's trademark.

PS: I'm still loling when we all thought that "Fake Boxer" would get destroyed and now here he is at the grand finals with a Boxer clone name.

They don't "add" one. You are just 1 year old instead of 0 when you're born...

So they count contraception is the initiation of life, so you are 9months (round to 1 year) when "excreted"?

I think you meant 'conception'.

All these pronunciation arguments are getting old. The English language is full of inconsistencies, and there is no reason why Fauxer cannot be pronounced in the same way as Foxer to rhyme with BoxeR. Not that I'm saying I agree with Fauxer any more than Foxer, but come on ...

Excactly. I find it interesting that people get so mad over the "correct" pronunciation of a made- up word/nick

I think I know his solution to templar storm already. Marines. I have no idea how he would pull it off but I'm sure it would work when he starts micro'ing.

This. To everyone who says to hard counter his marines the zergs have used baneling infestor on him, I cant think of a much harder counter, but he still wins making more marines and splitting them everywhere. As revolutionary as his play has been in this tournament people are going to copy it and something will have to be done, you cant have a strategy game boil down to just make a lot of your tier 1 unit.

certainly not.

It's not like Marine + Medic and eventually science vessel was fantastic versus zerg in sc1.

Or Zealot + Dragoon

Tier one units are fantastic. How many times did Lim Yo amaze us with his marines in sc1? why cant that be the same in SC2?

FauxeR used marines, medivacs, tanks, vikings and marauders. He certainly is not a one trick pony. Though he definitely makes exquisite use of the marines.

If Foxer vs Nestea, I think Nestea will have to 1base tech to infestors, or just turtle with spines on 2 bases and find a midgame push.

If Foxer vs Boxer, i'm predicting the universe will implode.

In Korea they add a year to your age.

They don't just add a year. They count from the point of conception (9 months at birth), and add years to your age based on the New Year rather than birthdays, so you can be up to 2 years 'older' than your literal age.

and when's your "birthday" ? is it the date of your conception or the day of your birth ...or they just don't have any ?

I really had no idea about this ..

Everyone who thinks Foxer does "all ins" is a terrible player who doesn't know anything about SC2. In 4 out of 5 games Foxer did 1 Rax FE and in the 5th game he expanded pretty fast as well. Watch the game on LT and you will see Foxer with 4 base vs ITR 1 base and you are still calling out Foxer for doing "all ins" vs greedy/econ builds?! Seriously so many people are hopeless when it comes to understanding SC2... Foxer is the first legit player.

I think it's more that you start as at 1 (for a whole year) than from 0 to that 1.

According to IdrA, his strategy is countered pretty heavily by infestors. IdrA seemed pretty confident that a good Zerg with infestor/baneling could take Foxer's strategy down pretty easily.

Day9 would beg to differ, since he's done several dailies on how good tier 1 macro builds are. People get too obsessed with this idea of tiers. Personally, marines are way more fun to watch than thors. And emerging strategies<>imba.

I dunno, Foxer said he's pretty confident against Infestor play, most likely because zerg would just get overwhelmed in trying to get to infestors.

As much as I dislike Foxer (and it's a sports fan things, sometimes you just don't like players), I'm glad he's in the finals because I think he'll make it more competitive than ITR would. I have a feeling that ITR would have choked again in the Finals.

Here's hoping that NesTea gets through, so we can have a TvZ finals instead of a TvT.

I remember reading that in China (so i'm making the assumption that this is true in korea) that they base a persons age on conception, making their age ~9 months older than American standards.

Um, that you are supposed to use different strategies for playing against different races, different opponents, different units, and different maps, and not just use the same unit to win in every situation?

I really had no Ideea about this ..

You still have your birthday and celebrate it as normal, and for official documents and such you use your literal age afaik.

But when referring to yourself in conversation you count your age based on the New Year. In Singapore people sometimes do this as well, referring to themselves as the age they'll be in the year itself, rather than basing it off whether they've hit their birthday for the year or not.

and more of a "birth" than excretion in the case of most people... but no, that has nothing to do with it. They simply by convention say that you are 1 if you are in the first year of your life, while we Westerners say you are not yet 1. In your 19th year of life, a korean calls you 19, while I call you 18.

Edit: so I had to take a test this morning, how the heck did ITTR take a game and why is it so poorly rated?

your birthday is the day you're born. the conception thing is just wrong.
Koreans (and Asian cultures in general) are big on birthdays. fans know birthdates of K-pop idols, tv drama actors, pro-gamers, etc.

Yes. Also, they add one year on the 1st of January, their birthday in a way (this is a culture thing). So if you're born 31st of December, the next day, you're 2 years old. However, when they put down their age on papers or something, they use the western system or put down the date of birth.

I stand to be corrected though, I read this over a year ago...
