For all that whining about Bnet 2.0....how many games crashed at IEM? (there was a computer crash in DiMaga vs Tarson) How many at GSL? Blizzcon? MLG?

Compared to how many that would have crashed been this over a LAN connection? A lot.

No, give me a number. I haven't seen ONE. I saw Idra vs Tarson had to be paused. And that's about it. I want numbers because I haven't seen all the games. If you don't have numbers but randomly keep throwing empty phrases like "a lot" it's not gonna prove anything.

I'm genuinely, honestly asking...how many?

Over the history of my watching sc2 (including beta) tournaments, I'll admit, I think I've only witnessed a maximum of maybe 4 housed tournaments have a player drop out. But still, if B.net stays the way it does, then it is only a matter of time until a player drops out in a close game in an important tournament or game with a lot at stake.

For something that is normally a given in RTS games, I think it isn't worth the risk of not implementing LAN (especially to prevent piracy, which doesn't work anyways), despite how small the chance of a disconnect might occur.

Edit to make it look a little nicer.

Ooo that laptop is looking further and further away... Idra representing his team very well, destroying Huk like no other Zerg in this tournament has done.

whenever HuK massacres known zergs and make them look like total noobs in any tournament, idrA comes in and cleans the scene.

i can't tell if comments like these are troll or not...

DT takes a long time to get. the gas required for DTs would have meant fewer stalkers, fewer immortals and fewer sentries...all of which are actually better in main battles. not to mention, idra had overseers sniping observers the entire game.

idra vs qxc at raleigh

the fact of the matter is, the 'waiting for player' screen should not even show up as it disrupts a player's flow completely.

how many games ended with a disconnect or lagged during all these years in bw proleague/starleagues?

It was made out to be MLG's fault though - something about their internet connection.

I hope IdrA wins so all the 'lol Idra is going to throw the games so HuK gets the laptop' fools can eat their words.

They were just pre-excusing it up so they don't have to admit someone outplayed Idra if he lost. Now that Idra wins they won't be bringing that up.

Oh, don't worry I really do believe SC2 needs a LAN client as soon as possible. I just dislike how some people use every single opportunity to portray Bnet 2.0 like the biggest evil that ever hit the internetz just because they personally dislike it. Objectively there are a very few complaints that can be made that aren't of personal nature and don't fall into the area of personal preference.

Anyway, I dislike IdrA but HuK honestly seems outclassed at the moment.
