Casters LOOKING for interested casters/streamers for this event. This event should be fairly high level, In past DC lan's we've had great players like Gretorp, Orb, Avilo, LastShadow, Devaztayta in attendance.
Misc. There's always a number of high level players as well as a bunch of well known TL and local community members that attend these events. If you've never been to a lan before this is a great chance to get out and meet members of the local sc2 community! Or to observe some high level sc2 action in person!
Previous event thread: Cyberground #1: thread (September 25th)

Sweet! I expect this thread to not get very active till we're done with MLG DC and have our posters up and whatnot.
|
Awesome I'll be there again. The owner said he would set up the big screen for people to watch on next time, so that should be really nice.

i might go. but we should get a side BW tourney going!
|
Is orb going to participate (yell a bunch) again?
|
C'mon Craton, no need to be bringing all that up again. Luckyfool said he'd give him a second chance if he decides to come, no need to say such things
I'll go if I have a ride and all that.
+ Show Spoiler +I'm looking at you, Chris.
|
I'll let you know as we get closer, probably will enter again as an admin not player, spending 10 bucks to update the bracket awwwwww yeah.
will talk to a few ppl about sponsorships and streams and what not ;o
|
I take it we're going to have to do Bo1 group stages again? D: Given how last LAN ran with the amount of people and time, it's totally understandable, but I wish we could figure another way out.
Also I request that, when writing the rules, consider how tiebreakers to move out of the group stage work. My recommended rule is in the spoiler, but whether you agree with it or not, a rule of some regard is necessary. I'm half-butthurt about the way my/sadistx tiebreaker ended in a bo1, but I'm not suggesting this to be an asshole- rather, in case it happens to someone else, a rule is necessary.
+ Show Spoiler +If you have a 2-man tie, you have 3 options. 1) The person who won in their group match between the two players moves on. (kind of boring. One can argue time restraints, but playing a few extra games wont destroy the schedule) 2) Play a BO3 with the previous winner between the two being 1-0 to start. (my favorite, so long as nobody was bought out of a 3-man tie to do it) 3) Play a new BO3 starting at 0-0
You cant play a new BO1, because of Player A beat Player B in groups and Player B wins the tiebreaker, they are technically 1-1. While the same arguement could be made for option #2 if it goes 1-2 (thus "technically" making it 2-2), a new BO3 will still offer a clean slate that is fair for both.
If you have a 3-man tie, tally the points of a players' beaten opponents to decide who beat the better players. Basically, if I beat 4 people, and those 4 people won a collective 3 games, I have 7 points. Someone else in the tie may have beaten 4 people who collectively won 4 games. They would have 8 points and be ahead of me. If at this point two players are tied, see the 2-man tie above. If at this point 3 players are still tied (which isnt impossible given 6-8 player groups), then I think it would call for a small bo1 round robin until someone goes 2-0. This could potentially go on forever, but unless you buy someone soju, there's really no other way.
|
In many major tournaments, in the event of a 3 way tie for a game like Quake they have all 3 guys round robin it up until someone goes 2-0. Unfortunately last time we just weren't sure of how much time we'd have for group stages, since this LAN had more people than ever before.
I'm guessing that we will think of a way to put this in place, but for example if X>Y>Z>X then we'd either have to go with what we did last time where storr dropped out, and quite frankly the tiebreaker is the tiebreaker, even if your series with sadistx ended 1-1, the plan in place before hand was the tiebreaker, not the season series.
Only problem with round robin for ties is that it could last a really really long time and theres no polite way to put it, but a result needs to come eventually since we only had so many stations for group stages.
I know of one certain rule that will be put in place in the event of a battle.net drop like last time. This is probably one that we'll have to look over also.
default is that in the event of a two man tie, tie goes to the head to head, but thats not really up for argument, thats just how it'll go, but its the case of a three way tie where time gets to be an issue, and playing 3/6/9+ more BO3's is not an option.
|
Will do my best to be there. Sign me up :D
|
I didn't mean that 3-man round robins should be Bo3's. Those should be Bo1, of course. In the case of a never-ending round robin, a decision would eventually have to be made, obviously, but that's not what I'm concerned about.
If its a 2-man tie, playing additional games adds predictable amount of time time that can be squeezed in to fit the schedule. You can safely assume that a bo3 won't go longer than 45 minutes. Chances are, games from another group will still be going on, anyway. Me/sadistx still had 40 minutes before brackets were supposed to start when our bo1 tiebreaker ended. There's the possibility that it could go longer, but you're much less of a risk than you would running a 3-man round robin of BO1s.
Its not fun to be the player who has to play a bo1 because people are afraid there won't be enough time. If you can fit a 3-man bo1 round robin in to the schedule/rules, you can fit a 2-man Bo3. A bo3 can go between 2-3 games, a 3-man bo1 will go 3+ games. If you can sign off on playing 3-man RR Bo1 then there's no reason to make 2-man be a bo1.
Kind of confusing myself with all these abbreviations and crap but hopefully someone gets what I'm saying. I just don't want to be eliminated on a single bo1 in a 2-man tie, that's all.
|
There will at least be a minimum of tiebreakers this time around instead of that head to head stuff we used to break ties last time.
If anyone has suggestions or concerns/recommendations on what to change from last time I'm all for hearing everyone out either here or in PM.

I thought we were evil dictators...damn. No my way or the highway stuff? This tournament is lame. Screw you Rob. You ruined my evil plans of SC2 domination. You will never achieve anything in life! You must not give in to the soft and useless cries of pain and suffering from those lesser mortals below us!!!
Mind if I'm in charge of the tournament again?
I promise I won't be an evil dictator.
Maybe. >>
|
ya u are of course in charge of the tournament torenhire. u did awesome last time.
If you want to be an evil dictator go for it, it's impossible for me, I'm too nice.
|
HAH.
You've known me how long now? Name one time you've seen me be rude or mean to anyone.
We need to find us an evil coordinator. So we can have at least SOME evil on our side. Hooktits, I'm lookin at you, man.
Edit: BTW. Everyone go bother Siraz to cast for us again. :D

Might ask iccup.diamond to get iccup to stream it actually ;o

Maybe this time I'll have a camera that works?
But I'll handle prizes and be your accountant of sorts again

Signing up/confirming. How can I miss this ^_^
Cyberground lans ftw.
|
Now that everyone had such a great time at mlg DC you can all sign up for this tourney/lan and have a great time here as well, or perhaps your new to tl and just discovered this thread and now you wanna sign up and come as well!!
Well here is a little bump to let everyone know that its on it way and you should sign up now!!
|
I'm about 90% sure I'll be there. Hope I can get owned by lucky in round 1 again ^^
|
Yeah I'm wondering if I should have put this in the community section or the tourney section. Tourney section topics get buried so fast as many of the local people might not see this if they don't look in this section much.
|
I plan to be there as long as the weather is not suitable for tennis. Why didn't you get revenge on Spades for me LF?
|
I'm on the fence. I wanted to go to last one, but I was very very bad and didn't want to lose (and lose money lol)
Lemme run it by the wife if she'll let me waste a day and money, I'm in.

Lemme run it by the wife if she'll let me waste a day and money, I'm in. You can come and just spectate/hang out. There were a number of people who prefer to do this.
Also this time we will have a bigscreen set up in the back for a crowd to watch games.
|
Just sent the email in.
I'll be there!
edit: And it would be AWESOME if we got that huge TV in the back to work! Did we ever figure out what exactly was wrong with it? o.O
|
Dunno but I'll be going there probably this Saturday to figure thingz out with that. I know the TV's work, there are monthly street fighter tournaments held at the place that use those TV's.
Also those 5 CRT machines will be upgraded and good to go for next time so we will have more space for people.

I thought Storr got banned for his shenanigans last night lol, I still see the infested terran!
I'll probably decide really close to the tournament time whether I'll come or not, just due to all my classes/finals and stuff, odds are I'll make it

Rob, our post keeps getting buried in SC2 crazyness. D:

yeah I know but the signups are rolling in on the email list so I'm happy.
50 players is going to be the cutoff.

I'm definitely coming, I'll send you the email tomorrow, I have too much crap to do right now.

I dunno about you guys but I kind of prefer the MLG style tournament. With no group stage, and a loser's bracket. I don't think it would take that much longer and it would let everyone get at least two BO3's.
|
Double elimination is fine but if you go 0-2, 0-2 ur done. I like to try to have a format that allows the most amount of games for everyone in as realistic a timeframe as possible.
Ideally I'd want to have bo3's all the way across. But with groups of 7-8 people its way too time consuming to do that.
What we can do is have smaller groups. something like 4 man groups and have it be bo3's all the way. so at a minimum even if you go 0-2 to everyone in your group thats 3 bo3's. that also allows for more people to advance to the bracket stage.
|
I'll go, but I'll probably be spectating, as I would get my butt solidly kicked if I were to play.
If you guys need a caster who no one has ever heard of, let me know! 8)

I'll be coming from Columbia, MD. If anyone is coming from North with extra space let me know. Or if anyone south of me needs a ride I will have 1 extra spot if I drive myself.

I'm planning on going and playing. If I find a place to crash, I think I'll be able to. Too costly for me to fly+hotel for 3 nights but if I find a place to crash during the time I will probably go.

I'm kind of sad I have to actually sign up, it should be a given! No way am I going to miss seeing Chris without an ego!

I blame the SC2 tournament section.

well we do have 29 confirmed signups for the tournament with 3 weeks to go still. and no banner posted in the lan center yet. nokarot is almost done with it and it's gonna be epic.

ok rules are almost done I'll link to them in the OP. Gonna be real similar to last time with 2 exceptions, tiebreaker matches in the group stage and hopefully smaller groups with bo3's in the groups instead of bo1's.

Why don't we just play on blood bath and bgh and call it a day?
I would assume the map pool will mirror the ladder map pool give or take

err into the darkness is a very fun game. enter the dragon was super fun to play (unless you were zerg then rofl) U-Boat, just look at it it looks trippy as fuck! and Luna, is the old Fighting Spirit/Python/Desitnation/Lost Temple standard map that is over used.
edit: I shall be a tournament admin for this. so be prepared for epicness!

Map pool along with full rules sheet will be posted tomorrow SORRY GUYS.
And 1 more week of signups, signups close next Saturday.

Almost as many people as last LAN already, crazy shiz
|
Bump! See you guys next weekend!!
|
Where are the rules? I'm primarily concerned about the maps. It was nice knowing which ones I could check off for ladder practice last tournament.
|
Rules and map pool is posted in the OP lemme know if you guys see anything really stupid or have suggestions please contact me. I try to make a fun and unique format and style that offers the best chance for people to have as much fun and give as many games as possible in a logical timeframe.
This format guarantees everyone at least 5 games (assuming 6 men in your group some groups will have 7 players)
The main changes people may notice from last time (and were all suggestions people made after last lan that I'm trying to implement) disconnect procedure in place. A bracket stage of 24 and tiebreaker accommodation. Ties will only need to be broken for first place in a group and 3rd place. 2nd and 3rd place will make no difference in terms of bracket seeding.
Groups will be generated tomorrow most likely. I will continue to take signups via email (I don't REALLY expect all 51 pre registered to show up but last time we had quite impressive attendance so I'm not going to bank on too many to not show)

Why no Scrap Station or Shakuras Plateau? I don't see any reason why all ladder maps shouldn't be on the list. GSL uses them, after all.
|
Devaztayta? I used to play TFT with that guy, he's from infoceptor. How odd! I remember in BW I was gonna go to a wcg placement thing, then I learned a couple of the {88} guys were they, and they always worked me so I never went.
This seems to be the case for this event too =X
|
Scrap Station is a terribad map lol, Shakuras is legit though from what I've heard.
|
the only changes I made from last time was leaving Scrap Station off because it was the least popular from first lan (replaced it with Blistering)
and added Jungle Basin.
I don't know the popular opinion on Shakuras but it seems ok. I just don't like to include all the maps so people can practice a bit instead of "everything"
|
scrap station is awesome lots of people (aka zergs) like it but when you default group play to metalopolis then of course its going to be the least popular :O
I dunno, its my opinion that all ladder maps should be in the pool. If a terran can pick lost temple against me in brackets then I should be able to pick whatever I want against him. Exempting a map because its not "popular" doesn't really make sense to me. Popular is subjective, and just because it's underplayed doesn't mean it should be impossible to be played.
For the record scrap station is my favorite map choice I do have bias in this argument but bias or not, i just don't think removing it from the map pool is justifiable. If you want to remove maps so that people dont have to practice "everything" then it should just be basin/shakuras because they are new and not many people have extended experience on them. Even then, I'd rather not remove any maps, but if you're going to remove some, I'd rather it be those.
Your choice though, I guess.

i figured i would give this a little bumpy poo just to make sure that any one and everyone from the maryland, va and dc area has seen this and is aware that it is happening next week and if you haven't signed up yet now is the time, i don't think there is many slots left but you must know that there are always a few people that don't show up so if you are one of the first few on the alternate list then you will most definatly get a chance to play. Also even if you just wanna come and check the event out to observe it is a ton of fun and very observer friendly. Even if you aren't from the MD, DC, or VA area that doesn't mean you can't come on down their are plenty of people who travel many many hrs to come to our dc lans so once again if you haven't got the memo, lan next week come check it out!!!!
on a side note
"get your skis shined up!" "grab a stick of juicy fruit" "The taste is gonna mooove ya" "take a sniff... pull it out... the taste is gunna move ya when ya pop it in your moooowwth!" "juicy fruit is gonna move ya" "ya choose a song it gets right too ya??(Don't know what their saying in this one)??" "Juicy fruit.. the tase, the tase, the taste! is gunna moooooooovvvee YA!!"

sc2ranks is being weird,
I'll search for myself, luckyfool.490 and it says there's no result returned.... like what is that... X_X
Trying to verify these are fairly balanced groups and it's making things difficult. Everything looks alright to me though for the most part. The 8 ~2k points people are seeded into separate groups everything else was random.
I thought I had 50 players but apparently I have 48. 8 groups of 6 players each with half moving onto the bracket stage.
this is fine though anyone that signs up from here or walks on will just replace a no show. Last time we had quite good attendance though and alot of these names are familiar so I'm expecting another great event next weekend!

I had the same problem.
By inputting my ID with the number 0 instead of 906 I was able to see my statistics. If that doesn't work, then I have no idea.
|
Also a friendly reminder that while we will have a few more pc's to work with this time we will have about 40 pc's and 48 players so the groups are staggered a bit. If you play in groups E,F,G,H you can show up around 1pm and be fine. If you play in A,B,C,D definitly don't show up much later than 11:15am or you will risk getting w.o'd/replaced.
|
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about Steppes of war being a perfectly acceptable map while scrap station is removed...
Honestly, I'm with Nokarot on this one. I feel like it should just be the ladder map pool.
|
You guys seriously going to keep arguing it or just go with it I'm not in the mood to argue it but the map pool was decided.
|
On November 07 2010 15:21 ZlaSHeR wrote:You guys seriously going to keep arguing it or just go with it I'm not in the mood to argue it but the map pool was decided.
I made 1 post arguing my point (after my initial post, asking simply because I thought it was overlooked), Corrupt made 1 post agreeing with me. Don't get so angry :/ Rob asked for critique over the rules, after all.
On November 06 2010 03:39 LuckyFool wrote: Rules and map pool is posted in the OP lemme know if you guys see anything really stupid or have suggestions please contact me.
And since he asked for critique, I'd like to point out that just about every zerg who loses a [streamed] match this weekend at MLG Dallas has picked Scrap Station as their follow-up map choice. As Corrupt said, I'm not comfortable with the idea of someone getting to pick Steppes of War (or Lost Temple vs Terran) as a zerg player if I don't get to pick Scrap Station. Makes no sense, whether you personally like the map or not. "Being the least popular map" in the last LAN isn't justifiable reasoning, especially since there weren't many zergs in 1.1.
|
I will gladly welcome Scrap Station into the map pool if the JUNGLE RETARDO FUCKIN BASIN Gets the fuck out of the pool.
|
Not sure why you say that as Terran, but as a Zerg I know I don't like Jungle Basin. I'd say to replace Scrap with Jungle on the sheer merit that, if you only want to have 7 maps, remove the newest ones (basin and shakuras) that are the least practiced.
|
Hmm seems odd Scrap Station and Shakuras are taken out (Good Zerg maps) but everything else is left in.
|
ok there we go, more than 1 person qq'ing is all I was waiting for. and we have a non zerg saying to put scrap in, that's good.
switching jungle with scrap station.
by the way, Isai wants us to play on iccup maps, how about that? Let's add in heartbreak ridge and fighting spirit! How about match point?! :p
|
|
Because Jungle basin lets zerg get up an uncontested 15 hatch unless I absolutely allin with a bunch of scvs and a proxy rax, the ramp to your main is small enough to be blocked by 2 queens, denying ground harrass, the side expos are hard to deny because it leaves your center exposed and the gay back rocks can be broken by roaches before I can make anything that lets me shoot at them.
The narrow paths in the center also make it impossible to micro vs banelings.
/rage rant over.
Also NO FIGHTING SPIRIT. Fuck that P favored garbage.
|

haha nice, first time in my life my QQ'ing has gotten results

so now when all u primadonna zerg users lose u can't blame the map pool kthxbye

I already know that I'm going to lose, I just want things to be fair Thanks for changing it though.

gorkey island. I DEMAND IT IN THE MAP POOL BECAUSE I LIKE IT. Remove Metalopolis for it because metalopolis is a shitty map
|
ya Metalopolis is so bad... I mean popular opinion is so subjective after all like wtf nobody knows shit it's a crap map!!! Q_Q
Also just to clarify something, I changed the map pool because no matter how big or competitive my lans get they are always hosted for the players, if the players aren't happy I'm not happy.
(within reason obviously LOL)
btw still looking for a caster/streamer for the event.
|
most probably wont be able to make it, hf guys
|
I'm not happy unless we have gorkey island. Using day9 logic, that map creates interesting games so therefore it must be in the map pool
jk time to play csl match
|
someone do a breakdown of hte groups cuz im lazy
|
Are there any rules regarding keyboards / mouse drivers?
Are PS2 keyboards allowed?
|
If you want to use a PS2 keyboard or have custom drivers email: cybergroundSC2@gmail.com and we may be able to accommodate but USB equipment is strongly preferred.

Would anyone be interested in watching the GSL Finals @ the LAN center? I don't know if I want to wake up at 6am that morning but it would be cool to watch as a group
|
The lan center isn't 24/7, there won't be anyone there till 10:30am.
There is talk though of vod viewing immediately after the lan. problems with that obviously is you can't watch it live and then theres risks all day that somebody will spoil it, watching with others is quite an experience as well and has been done in the past with osl/msl finals.
|

Yeah good points. I'll probably just watch it then go back to sleep for a while. And hopefully the games will be so epic that if everyone watches again after the LAN I'll stick around for that too

map pool:
Kulas, Desert Oasis, Blistering, Scrap.
let's ONLY use imba maps guys!
|
Thats what I was saying...Great idea to throw up crap staiton JUST because zergs want it.
|
We could also do the veto style where both players alternate eliminating maps until there's just one left.
If I had it my way I'd do the entire tournament on meta and xel naga alternating because those are honestly the only two very well balanced maps in all of sc2 right now in my opinion.
|
Thats probably the best idea IMO, we have the map pool and in brackets since its BO3 each person eliminates 1-2 maps or something like that, leaving room for strategical elimination of maps.
|
I have to confirm something before I decide to go but most likely I will end up coming. I guess if you guys need help I'll definitely be willing to help out like last time. Last tournament, most of the group matches ended up being played on Metalopolis because it seemed like the easiest map the players could come to an agree and play. But it be nice to vary the maps and not force all of them on Meta if the players agree to play something else.
|
Someone can downvote Metalopolis, and take a stab at the fact the other race will probalby downvote certain maps, then prepare builds for the ones left.
|
We have 7 maps. If each person Veto's 2, then its down to 3 maps (aka bo3). Later on in semifinals, each person vetos 1 map and then its down to 5 maps (aka bo5).
Only problem that this would conflict with is that you've made round X start on Y map, so if Y is vetoed (for example) then you'd have to figure out another way to decide which map gets played first.
Also, I don't know if you guys are joking or are legitimately upset, but whether you like Scrap Station or not, I don't understand why you're getting so aggressive over it. I'm not going to apologize for asking for 1 Zerg-friendly map when you Terrans are sitting on Lost Temple, Steppes of War and Delta Quadrant, whether I'm going to get last place or not.

Can anyone give me a ride to/from Springfield VA? If not I might have to bail, too edit: Chris/CaucasianAsian was my ride, for those wondering

after all that map pool discussion you BETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTER be coming nokarot! LOL
and chris WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF aren't you in nova area already?
|
I'll be there (to spectate of course). It's actually my first tournament I've gone to, and I'm pretty excited about it.
|
Chris only came up to dinner last week so he could go to the bank, so he could go back down to pay his rent
|
ok so our staff for the day will be torenhire+musume+zlasher+geno(if he comes)
I'm still looking for a streamer and I'll be sending out reminder emails probably tonight.

Ipp get us ragequit hookups you noobface.

For those who do not know; 99% of my liquibets were done drunk and I was #1 up until Boxer's loss. I am going to honor my liquibet loss by having a SC Party starting Friday night and ending once GSL's are over. It is advised to come by 1AM as there is a LAN Saturday we need to be sober enough to drive too.
I'm not sure who all is coming but I do have a bejujular TV which the GSL will be played on, alcohol, and a Air Hockey Table which converts into the most epic Beer Pong Table you can think of. It is a townhouse but I have 3 couches and an air mattress and plenty of floor to sleep on if you want to stay the night.
PM Me if you want more info; I live in Germantown, MD about 15 minutes from Shady Grove Metro. Ride can probably be arranged.

I'm pretty out of practice myself, but all tomorrow evening I'll have some time to throw on some rocky music and enter super srs training mode.

You guys have Carpola in your group, who was very solid last time. He plays Protoss. Should be fun.
|
so excited for this 1 day away!!! :D
|
aww geno <3 were you coordinating our group's matches?
|
|
I'm looking for somebody to mange or oversee observing with TV in the back. Not one single person would be expected to do that all day but it's definitely something that we'll have a need for non players to manage or help make happen.
last time people just started watching a movie on there or something? I dunno exactly cuz I was playing. We have the cables and are ready to make it happen this time though.

This mean you're confirmed, Geno? Wewt!
I think we'll try to get things run similar to last night. Split the groups in half and have myself on one group and someone else taking care of the other groups. Someone else can take care of sign-in and then maybe during bracket stages they can take over display obs-ing.
Will hammer out the last details and when I catch you guys on Saturday I'll give you guys the run down. Looking forward to the tournament! Not so much at having to wake up at 8 though.
Good luck to all our players! Hooktits fighting!

I'll need someone to drive me from the lan, to a Korean mart to pick up some Bacchus!!
Support the osl mates!

Are certain groups playing at 11 and others at 1 again? Or do we all need to be there at 11? Just wondering if I can snag a little extra sleep after staying up for GSL
Nvm, read the rules
|
Yes 11 and 1 again.
Also any casters who are interested in helping covering the event for us please PM me There's definitely still room to cast games in this event.
We have Wolf but he has to go at 6:45 so he won't be able to cast our finals!
We also have siraz again but I haven't talked to him too much recently so I'm not 100% if he's gonna be around tomorrow...

Yes.
btw earliest anyone can get to the lan center is 10:30am that's when the place will be opening.
also I mentioned it last time but not really this time, there is space in the back for 3-4 laptops if people prefer to play or bring their laptop.
also wolf is casting for us but has to leave at 6:45 and that's about when the finals will be starting... so we still need possible caster still just pm me here or message me on bnet today, luckyfool.490 and I can hook u up. We have a spot on the tl calendar and everything so if ur a caster looking to cast some kickass bo5 finals and a 3rd place match this is it!

Alrighty looks like I can't actually play in the tourney today. I'm still gonna show up in a bit though and just hang out for a while. I'll see you guys in a tidbit!

great tournament, thanks for organizing! looking forward to next one

Glad to hear everyone had a lot of fun! Sorry I couldn't make it q_q

once again had a Excellent time! Congrats to Avilo for 1st and Sin for 2nd. Can't wait till the next lan, any one who took pictures or videos please post ^_^ Thanks to rob and every one else who helped host the tournament.
And a special thanks to joooooooooooe for entertaining us with an aweasome tvz game
|
43 of the ~50 showed up. quite a good turnout for sure we packed the place once again and had some great players.
it's a little unfortunate ruff and sin had to play in the quarter finals, actually both of the inside quarterfinal matches were all possible semifinal matchups but thus is the life of a tournament, sometimes the way the seedings and random groups play out that stuff could happen. especially when you have 5-6 top 200 players in north america at the tournament... I'm really happy with the level of the finals too it was quite a competitive tournament pretty much as soon as we hit the quarterfinals all 8 of those players were quite competitive.
big props to itsgosu and cyberground for donating prizes again this time (bestbuy gift card and mouse bungees for the top 4) gratz to avilo and sin for putting on some amazing finals, 3-2 win for avilo, always intense when a series goes to a game 5...
i'm going to be taking the holidays off but I will be planning and scheming during that time in order to make the next one even better. I was bad this time around getting a streamer or better coverage for our event. also I'm sure we can get sponsorship for bigger prize pools for future tournaments. If we consistently draw 50 people that's really great. Only problem is the lan center can't really fit more than 35-40 at a time... So if anything runs behind schedule space gets limited and alot of people might have to end up waiting around.
Thanks to everyone who came out and supported, events like this are always great and I'm really glad things went smoothly and hope everyone had a great time.
edit: R&S thread updated: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=156671 this was officially the 8th planned sc tournament in the area through TL.
|
we should permaban Hooktits for not drinking 10+ yoohoos like promised.
Hahaha.
Also, Avilo, should post those TvT reps from the finals. Big props to Squal and Cheesegrater for making it through terran-hell into semifinals. PvZ 3rd place match was like...most anticipated match of the night cause it wasn't a TvT

SO MANY EAST COAST TERRANS!
Thanks again for showing up everyone. I'm sure I can speak on behalf of the hosting team (Luckyfool, Myself, Geno, Zlasher) that holding such large tournaments is a lot of fun. Can get busy at times but it's always great to be able to sit down and spectate these ridiculously good games on the TV at the end. Gosu camera skills by Ipp for spectating at the TV station, btw.
I think Rob and I schemed a tentative January LAN on the drive back home, so keep an eye out for the Cybergrounds JANLAN thread. Hope to see you all there!
