Orc needed all these boosts because they were so weak. Even after Grubby appeared and started showing people that Orc actually had a chance to do well he still at one point was seriously talking about changing races because Orc was so bad. Grubby was always a whiner, though he puts on a facade of being decent and mannered now. I remember him going emo-mode on his blog and converting the lyrics of Linkin Park's (lol) In the end into an orc whine song. Truth be told, Grubby was just an fan favorite on the euro scene , but skillwise was just another average orc until Zacard showed the true power of orc. In fact if you watched his older replays, Grubby never built a single raider unless he was going for some sort of base trade.Then zacard appeared on the scene and showed the power of grunt raider and blademaster and then Grubby basically copied that strat and refined it a bit. He has not changed that strat even once to this day. In fact I would go as far as to say that Grubby is the least creative player to have played wc3 at the pro level. Meanwhile all the repeated orc buffs and the destroyer nerf/bug fix in 1.14 simply screwed UD vs Orc to an unplayable state. AFAIK after those nerfs, the only UD to win a tournament internationally was Lucifer (ESWC 2006). Every other tournament was won by Human or orc. Even Moon was having trouble and after repeated elf nerfs, even Orc vs elf was becoming favored for the orc , especially after staff nerf, dryad xp nerf and orb of venom nerf. In short, repeated nerfs to other races and non stop buffs for orc made wc3 into a shit game that it is today. | ||

This is the GSL and just because they have WC pros competing does not mean we have to read about some balance issus in a different game. this is not true. there were numerous patches that helped orc, directly or indirectly. tower build repair time, elf staff nerfs, spirit walkers gaining resistant skin (cant cylone them), and above all, patch 1.17, where the blademaster gained the ability to walk through units You can cyclone spirit walkers. Those changes were not very significant for balance of Orc, apart from fixing broken things which overpowered the race that used them. Also you should remember grubby played as human in roc, since it was the best race and changed back to orc in ft once human was getting demolished early by elf. The metagame changed allot since then, but orc is overpowered for more than 3 years now in wc3, getting to see lameass players like violet or focus win games is just depressing. Orc is the only race to have a freewin matchup(hi undeads) and no weaker matchups. Anyways, wc3 is pretty dead now, especially if the likes of moon and lyn officially switch to sc2. On topic, rooting for Nada tomorrow, and even tho the terran lineup seems scary with the likes of intotherainbow, maka and ensnare, still hoping for some race diversity among the ones that get to ro64. | ||
