Pretty sick prizepool!!!
Largest UK tournament so far! Going to be sickkkkk
WHAAAAAAT! This lans too far south :'( I hope prize fund is same for i42 and it's at other race course
It's at Newbury for 2011 too ste - At least it's only within the UK you're travelling!
Its a huge LAN, any1 within UK that plays SC2 should automactially go! I know demuslim is going to come over and I am pretty sure many more will also!!
Going to be huge!!
SC2 GOGOGO

Is it not rotating between newbury and the one further north. (Useless with names)
Not worth the effort to go i41, and don't know many people going (CSS scene kid ) Whereas i42 should have all my usual bunch so will lose my I series virginity at i42 hopefully ^.^
Wonder if any European players (non British) will be going to this event, fingers crossed!

Stoneleigh you mean? It's too expensive to run it at right now.
If I can travel from Newcastle you Midlanders can too :>
Basically you can only enter the tournament by having a BYOC ticket at a cost of £72. 512 x 72 = £36,864. £5000 prize pool could be a lot more considering that.
"IF" you qualify then you get the ticket for free but i'm guessing you can only try to register after buying the ticket so basically if you where only going for SC2 and don't qualify you just paid a lot out of your pocket unless you where going there anyways.
Unless i'm missing where you signup for qualifiers without paying for a full ticket.
Sounds great... I look forward to getting my ass handed to me in the online qualifiers next week...

Cant you drive the length of the UK in like 8-10 hours. Im pretty sure you can. Try living in NA where its a 5-6 hours flight to Lans ><

I'd rather fly than trains in the UK (can't drive xD)
Looks good though, GL all
most race courses in the UK havea train station within a mile or so.
one of those rare moments in my life where i want to be english. :p
good luck everyone, im sure it will be a great and funny tournament.
If I end up qualifying i'd be driving from south london to there and could probably take 2 other ppl and there stuff.
My money on demuslim, any takers?
If it wasn't for work I might just have driven down as a spectator for this yin ;(
Im so tempted, but the idea of getting on a train with my comptuer doesnt bode well :S
Anyone going from plymouth area that wants to carpool?
Slayer, general etiquette for making bets on a forum, if a post to do with a bet has an edit, then what is written there is kinda void
anyway what were u thinking, Demuslim vs all others, even odds? ^^

UK scene has kicked off then?? ^^

512 x 72 is *really* not how it works. Trust me.
The online qualifiers/tournaments/cups are simply opportunities to win free tickets - they're not a requirement for you to enter SC2 and if you have a purchased ticket and win one, then you'll have it refunded, not a problem

No, I was attempting to be funny. I edited the post because I was going to go for a joke which wouldn't make any sense. I don't actually want to bet on who's going to win, although that bet sounds reasonable to me, I'm not one of those extravagant poker plays who flings money around :D
Have they announced a map pool yet?
sorry to be that guy rob, but multiplays current situation regarding prize payout timeframe is rediculous, so anyone going expecting to win to make £, dont expect to get that £ for about a year pz should be a good tourney tho ;]
There's being 'that guy' and plain lying though
It's good for the scene no doubt but I'm willing to bet that the money doesn't get paid for at least a year, the CS:S winners at i36 only got their money before i40, and plus i can't afford their enterance fees at all, and i don't think a multiplay lan has run smoothly since i33.

I'm surprised if demuslim is the only progamer in there. I wish I could go there .

Man, I'm really interested... but having to pay for a ticket to go, just to enter the qualifiers... especially for someone like me who is an amateur....
I also failed to see if it said anywhere if/who would be casting it, I hope you're casting dApollo, you made me a fan after seeing you and Day9 live at Cologne

Not sure what the confusion is here - the payment is simply to go to the event The tournament is nothing additional and the online cups before hand are simply opportunities to win free entry to i41!
if the tournmanet is only ran over 1 or 2 days, would it be possible to get a pass for these days, would it be possible to borrow/rent a computer to use for those days? i'm just wondering if their would be any cheaper alternatives to paying for the full 4 day ticket and to still be able to enter the tournament. anyone considering driving down from north west?
I got a reply from the organisers and its awesome news that:
"Our online qualifier signups aren't open yet, but will be opening either today or Monday. There is no purchase necessary to take part in these qualifiers "
So all round these guys are awesome its like doubly good of them.
i'll defo be trying to qualify, i know i don't have any chance, but I can't afford £72 with xmas on the horizon.... i don't think i saying to my son "Sorry little man, but santa bought Daddy a ticket to a LAN instead of your Ben10 stuff" would go down too well lol.

Do you have time to move to Russia and outrun cars in the thigh high snow? Maybe...
Cool opportunity, I'm calling it now that DeMuslim will win!
Might go, even if it is to just get stomped by rANDY and DeMusliM. Does anyone know if you can enter two tournaments (CS:S and Starcraft), as I remember a couple of LANs back you were able to enter both CS:S and HoN.
So £72 is to BYOC to the best LAN in the UK and have a great time. It is not to enter a SC2 tournament and the cost to actually run an event of this size is staggering. I'm surprised people don't understand that better. SC2 is not the only thing that happens there, not by a long shot and it's going to have to go some way to beat the sheer noise and popularity of the TF2 tournament. That said, we had a good showing at i40 and a good crowd so things are looking promising.
bah 90£ per ticket lololol even if i did live 30 mins away
id love to go, from plymouth uni, but not too fond on the camping, it was bad enough in the rain at i40. dislike the idea of camping in november.. maybe if i get free entry i may change my mind..

If you stay for the entire event, go with friends and go enjoy it is well worth the money! Lets hope the casting is top notch! :D No players being able 2 hear ect

Here's hoping its another fun-packed tournament, but just curious what'll be done about sound proofing this event. (We have time to prepare now)
GL HF etc.

Can't try too qualify without chancing losing £90 after all it seems, pity. They don't seem to want to confirm you'll get a refund if you don't qualify.
You really don't need to purchase a ticket to be able to enter the qualifiers. Those signups are for the *LAN* tournament. We'll be announcing more about how to enter the qualifiers hopefully today.

nice to see the invitees up, good list. I think if i remember right that HuK is going to Korea after MLG, or atleast pretty soon so he likely can't come even if he wanted to.

Yer, I think it may clash with GSL3 qualifiers, so Huk/Select/ret may not be able to attend

prf top 3 from last time shud have got free invites!
Atleast if they can give free invites to 18 players (which comes to more than the prize money for i40), the financial situation might be strong so prize money from i40 might be paid soon?

Wait doesn't that mean the online tournament pre event is not free? we have to buy a ticket for another event in order to play in it if so, that seems like a fuzzy grey area for the blizzard esports policy where entry fees can not be charged.
so if I host a tournament where the players can only enter when they have purchased my t-shirt which I sell for X on a separate site and by doing so they are allowed to play in my tournament and could win Y. but of course its not a ticket because they have the t-shirt
Wow I can't wait to see Mardow play! :D

You missed me off the invite list =( Multiplay can never keep up with current pro's such as me!
I must stop reading this thread, gna end up tempted. If only it wasn't such a bad date/timing money wise

ok anyone that can tell me how to sign up for the online qualifiers? I just get told i can't sign up because i haven't booked a place at the LAN..... the other link that sends you to "tournaments" doesn't work: http://www.multiplay.co.uk/tournaments/signuppage3.asp
so i can't sign up.....

Yeah, the online qualifiers page says sign in here, you must have booked a ticket to sign in with that account? Very confusing.
hey lads, still trying to find registration info for the pre-lan qualifiers
puzzled as the first round is supposed to be on today and i cant find any details :s
Yeah the signup link was broken last night, I'm working on fixing it now and I'll update the main thread with links once it's live.
its working now, but i still can't find where to input my nick and char code. other than that, i'm signed up for this week!
How do you enter the tournament to qualify for free places? As I understand, them links are for people who have already paid? :x and there meant to start tonight
Couldn't figure out how to signup either, oh well maybe next time.
tourney starts at 6:00pm, u have until 5:45 to signup. you can signup without having pre-ordered any ticket, i cant find link for ya atm cus multiplay seems to be down. its a big [enter tournament] button and then a drop down menu to register (note: after you change the drop down box, theirs a "save settings" button at the bottom). i'll post link when site comes back up.

Hi guys,
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we've had to change the setup for the online tournaments. I've updated the initial post not just with online tournament info but with clearer lan tournament info too.
If you have any questions - however simple - let us know in this thread and we'll get it dealt with ASAP.
I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

So the 28th & 30th , craftcup will host a special qualification cup? if i'm correct ?

That's correct (there will two more dates after that but we're just confirming that at the moment)

I remember cadred having a Q&A with them and every question was where they hide the prize money lol...My only beef is that you spend SO much to attend (like 100 quid am I right?) especially if you're from out of country, and you kinda want the return to be there asap.
Anyways, maybe since there's an outside sponsor for the SC2 event it'll be paid up sooner.

In fairness, Achilles, you went to the two biggest gobshites from Counter-Strike. Multiplay have been known to be late with their payments but Jehan was definitely exaggerating when he typed '2 years'.
Considering that this tournament's prize fund has probably been 50/50'd with their sponsor, you can't really judge how long it will take for the payment to go through; as tournament sponsors are notorious for their inconsistency.
Good luck to those who participate!

Jehan I'll admit would have less of a clue, only being the manager for about 5 teams that've placed over the past 2 years or so, but Mx is one of the players. He's placed himself and is one of the most well respected players in the country. Regardless I hope everything goes well with a sponsor paying half.

Just a reminder, the first tournament starts tomorrow and you can enter here: http://www.bitsperbeat.com/i41/
1st Place: £50, 1 x i41 BYOC Ticket + EAS (worth £105) and Tt eSports Keyboard + Mouse 2nd Place: £25, 1 x i41 BYOC Ticket + EAS (worth £105) and Tt eSports Keyboard 3rd Place: 1 x i41 BYOC Ticket + EAS (worth £105) and Tt eSports Mouse
Also, not wanting to de-rail the thread but you're just plain wrong Achilles - if you wish to contest it then I'm more than happy to talk to you off-thread.

Please can we have bo3 from start if we play from a 128 bracket. Bo1 sucks so bad

Ret signed up for the qualifier tournaments, maybe someone wants to tell him he has a free ticket from being invited anyway? :p

I dont recall signing up for anything lol

Probably a good idea to inform all the foreign players that it is a BYOC lan before they all make plans, since im sure some of them don't realise this/it would affect their plans greatly.
Yeh what rANDY said i agree with
Also there is many people that don't realise this is even a lan event it seems and i have spoken to a couple of people i have seen sign up thinking its a prize money tournament instead of the main purpose (the beautiful tickets)
Yeh will be quite funny if loads of foreigners turn up and reliase that they needed to bring their own computer, lol.

1st place wins £50 and some other stuff that isnt money???
Isnt that a bit low for winning a big tournament
this is a qualifier for the tournament, you win entry to the big tournament (£5k prize pool cash)
Not totally hot on the decision to throw in non-ticket prizes in the qualifier tournament. Looking at where everyone on the list lives I highly doubt they are there for the free i41 ticket.
they aren't, i've talked to a few and they are all like, whats i41?
Guys quick shout, If anyone going to i41 is interested in sitting in a clan box we need +1 we have 21 people and we need 22 to get a clan box, contact me asap please! Clan boxes are much quieter than grandstand seats and we will leave you to do whatever you are doing and of course be nice to you
Hopefully we can get this qualifier added to the calendar. Boo0d, I summon you!

=) For anyone confused, he's a CSS guy and has 4 teams in the box (20 people + a friend 21) and you need 22 to book a private box. Means it'll be quieter than the grandstand and you get more privacy (to whack one off :D) and easier to get practise time in
Hope you find someone :D PS: If you give abuse to avash, +10 cool points from me =)

Fenix looks like hes going to win the tournament this weekend, which is pretty ironic as he declined the free invite in the OP. This just goes to show that putting money prizes + keyboards in this online tournament has flooded it with pros and semi pros that have no intention whatsoever of going to the i41 LAN.
The sad thing is this was a good opportunity for some good names who didnt have the financial backing otherwise to enter the real tournament.
Pretty large organisational fail IMO.
Not 1 person I've played yet has ANY idea what i41 is... Such a shame that this tournaments been ruined

Fenix was invited and then declined? And then did the qualifiers??

First game: Lau (T) (2nd place gamerbase) vs Sarens (T) Second game: Bling (P) (3rd place gamerbase london) vs Setteler (P) Third game: Settler (P) vs Arcanewind (?) Forth game: Lau (T) vs Pumpkin (Random) Fifth game: rANDY(Z) (i40 runner up) vs Jdazni (P) (UK EPS player)
Final group stage game of the day to be streamed: Demuslim (T) vs Pureball (T) (i40 winner)

From what I heard its
3000 Pounds for first 1250 for 2nd 750 for 3rd,
Not 100% sure but I believe thats right, quite huge, really don't get why the DSRack in denmark had so many players attending and so far only DeMuslim and Sarens showed up here for a much bigger prizepurse, hope socke still comes
nevertheless gonna be a entertaining weekend and we'll do our best to bring to make the stream as entertaining as possible and already we'd (Shaun and me ) like to apologize for technical difficulties, out of our hands obviously but still ;P
When is Demuslim playing and when Socke (when hes showing up) ?

I would add it to the calendar if I knew how :-)

Demuslim plays in 3 games vs Pureball ( good T player from the UK ), gonna be fun, next up we got a PvP with 1 guy being at 2600 points ^^
is there a bracket somewhere? can´t find any
If Socke doesn't show up that's going to be the easiest 3 grand Demuslim has ever made.
Totally bizarre that one of the biggest prize pools in SC2 to date has a grand total of 1 person attending from outside the host country.
Is it BYOC only or are there tournament computers available?
couldn't find the brackets, help please ?!
they invited a bunch of top players but no1 accepted the invite wether it be GSL qualifiers/team wont send or dreamhack next week... dunno its weird.. Demuslim hasnt stopped smiling
2nd game starting soon, they are sorting out the audio and stream next game is
Bling (2500 P) vs Settler (P)

I don't think anyone was looking to apportion blame for it not being on the calendar, it was more in my case an expression of surprise that a competition with such a large prize pool and so important to building an sc2 community in the UK was not on the calendar.
I think the organisers should hire you to help them better prepare for the next one! :-)

We totally understand no one dared to comment on the last game, sometimes, you just say it best, when you say nothing at all. :D

Hm sad that Socke doesn`t appear but I guess it is smply too stressfull to travel to UK just after returning from Dallas. Besides he has to play an imprtant EPS game on monday and Dreamhack is also waiting. But the lack of good players is really surprising and I wonder why they could not have a few PCs for the star players. I think this would have made it a bit more tempting for them.

You should rly get that thing into the TL-calender by tomorrow. Lonlely thread so far for this prize money.

Am definately tuning in again tomorrow after GSL, to see how my favorite UK player will be faring!
I have watched alot of pureballs games now and i really am starting to think he is 1 dimensional. He opens 1,1,1 in every game, either banshee or helion. Doesnt FE or go early mm ever amd makes some poor mistakes. He knew Demuslim saw his medivac drop being loaded yet still proceeded to carry out the drop doing little to no damage. The reaper changes seemed to have hit him hard as a terran and he is lacking creativity atm.
Todays action starts in about 30mins :D:D We have a special showmatch to kick off todays action !!!
Morrow will be joining us to showcase his new improved zerg against Demuslim in a best of 3 showmatch :D :D!!
That starts off the day and then we will go into following demuslims route to the possible final ^^
16 players are left and we will play up until the finals, the lower/upper and grand finals wil be played 2morrow :D
is there any kind of grid? .....
Hmmm, morrow Z vs demuslim showmatch, nice Thx Apollo for keeping us informed.
Demuslim is now setting up on stage and Morrow will play from home but is ready also online, should be starting in the next 10mins
rANDY vs Pureball in the next round - too bad one of them will have to go to the loser's bracket so early.
Seedings were used, the stream schedule for today will be something along these lines:
Demuslim vs Morrow bo3 showmatch Demuslim vs Pumpkin top16 game rANDY vs Pureball Quarters Demuslim vs winner of rANDY vs Pureball
Off the top of my head

No its a open tournament for 512 players, all i-series tournament's are open to all as long as you are at the event and have a BYOC ticket.
Awesome play by DeMusliM. Command center before racks is pretty baller against a zerg who goes pool first (well, he blocked the expansion himself).
Second game? So many drops, impressive multitasking.
Edit: Good initiative with the showmatch. Probs for that.
Good game, worth watching
The next game will be starting in 45mins, we will resume with yesterdays tournament.
Demuslim vs Pumpkin Pureball vs rANDY
Possibly Demuslim vs winner of Pureball and rANDY
and more!!
stream doesnt work, you look like that dude from skins too apollo.
Sound is gone.
Wow, quick response
why is there only like 2 people who we're following... just so boring seeing exactly the same players. No chance to see new fresh talent.
tyles you'll get to see the majority of players this way due to the low player pool
Would appreciate less giggling and comments about lesser players getting beaten by Demuslim!
Even though I love to see DeMusliM play, I think it might be worth watching some of the lower but more equally skilled players duke it out, just to have some kind of suspense in the games.
This game is a joke, it's pretty bm from Pumpkin to carry on after that, just GG and get off the stream. It's very boring watching the game drag on when there is already a clear winner.
It seems the shoutcasting is all based around Demuslim, I wanna see some other players!
kinda hard to cast the game
Next game is pureball vs rANDY!!!!
I wanna see more of concept
I am not sure what level that last random players was at but it was dire watching his lack of any pressure.
Casting schedule:
pureball vs rANDY Lau vs BlinG Demuslim vs winner of randy vs pureball
Its just hard to cast games like that tt, cant be to serious, but the tournament will get better now and yes for sure we will show other players as well, we're gonna show Bling (2600¬ points Protoss ) vs Lau ( 2300 points T ) formerly known as yarakyo, looking forward to that :D, cast quality will go up, pinky promise ;(
sick pricepool for such less players in the grid.. easy win for socke or demuslim lol
starting in 3mins!!!
First map Caverns 2nd Quadrant Last is Metal
Pureball vs rANDY, i40 finalists meeting in quarters, winner plays demuslim
Rotterdamn its not your fault, i personally think your cast quality is fine your simply saying it how you see it which quite a few other people would try and sugar coat. The problem is the lack of strength in depth within the tournament. The organisers wouldnt get top players from around the world due to it being a BOYC.

And \o/ for the upcoming protoss match. Seen sooo much TvZ today, with GSL and everything. Even in the 2 random games with DeMusliM it was TvZ, lol.
Ps. It's called "neural" parasite, not neutral :> Just thought I'd let you know.
Neutral parasite made me lol, also Randy had both these games if he stopped powering and just roach/ling all inned in both games.
4 gateing to gain some rating hilarious )
Holy shit the casting really is excellent. Both seem to know a lot about the game except that you can't see the shadows if you don't see the units Rotti!
pls dont host prizes in the online qualifers nex time, just the byop ticket. really wanted to go/qualify for i41 but the the competition in the quals were so fierce and only intrested in the prize money. anyone feel the same?

Yeah I raised it with an admin in the TL channel today and they said they werent happy with the results of the online quals.
gg randy/pureball, i think lau/bling is up next? will it be on stream1?
Next game starting in 5mins, just getting players ready!
Lau (old wc3 player) vs Bling (2500 P)
Then Pureball vs Demuslim
I am also controlling the camera, hope its not to bad, I understand how tasteless feels now because its actually quite hard to control it well for viewers and maintain conversation.
Both players are elim maps now while rotterdam goes to bathroom
lan jitters? some silly mistakes there with suiciding phoenixes, handling the banshee harrass kinda poorly and stacking like 3 FF in one spot :l
Last 2games of the evenings are going to be:
Demuslim(T) vs Pureball(T) Sarens(T) vs Lau(T)
The semi finals, we will broadcast both series as a best of 3 then the finals will be broadcasted tomorrow evening at 6pm GMT.
Demuslim is just soundproofing his area so that he cant hear us talking and getting ready to play.
Game should start in about 10minutes =) Check it out!!
Myself and Rotterdam casting, stream is on the main page

it lags every 3-4 seconds
Stream is going fine for me
they are looking at the stream, they say its ok from this end?
Sarens v Lau on the way in 2mins
really weird, as my internets seem to be fine. also tried switching browsers around
and it worked fine a while ago, so it shouldn't be any plug-in issue
oh well
le: sound is more or less ok, the image is what lags extremely often

Today?
SC2 finals coverage starts at 20:30 GMT tomorrow. This is 30mins later to allow more setup time from the CS:S which can be a bit late.
the games quizshow now is really nice
The final 3 matches of the tournament will feature DeMuslim, Sarens and Pureball fighting for a split of the £5000 prize money. Pureball is currently in the lower bracket so the first match will decide who enters the grand final with the match advantage.
Streams will be available via http://www.fileplay.net/channels/iseries
20:30 GMT / 05:30 KST is the scheduled start.
Waiting for CSS finals to finish on stage..... We will broadcast Demuslim vs Sarens and then the loser will play pureball and then back to the winner again!
Should be a good evening with some cool TvT action!!!!
Demuslim fighting??
Thanks for the Info d.Apollo.

But I do really like d.Apollo and Rotterdam's casting, so I still hope it comes back up.

That was a great flank - shame it didnt end up deciding the game :D
:D :D Hi demuslims dad :D:D I didnt mean it when I added your daughter on facebook
Pureball vs Sarens next :D
Wow, admins dropped the ball. I almost missed Rotterdam casting a LAN event? L2Use TL.net please .
So excited for these last games though, seems like the quality hasn't been the best up till now, but DeMusliM and Sarens are evenly matched.
It wasnt you d.Apollo, it was that bugger Kevin, and he is forgiven coz Ben told her to delete him, and anyway, he likes you both and says ur both cool doods. Have fun.
Fark... Teamliquid fails? I thought they never failed.
Grand finals starting soon¬!! Demuslim warming up ^.^ Demuslim has to win one best of 3, Sarens has to win 2 best of 3 :D
glglgl enjoy the stream quality and casting ofcourse
lol why are they playing random? and its ZvZ^^
wtf so much money on the line and they play random , that's just funny :D
edit: but really cool that I dont have to see any tvt anymore, after I already watched go4sc2 cup today
Hehe, Rotterdam your so funny man
Great casting guys
Pretty horrible finals in terms of games. Gz to Demu tho, easy money.
Thanks guys nice casting.
Easy money for demuslim.
That is so baller. With like, £1000 on the line (or something like that between 1st and 2nd place), they decide to go random instead of their actual races. While the games might not be super high level, I definitely found them amusing. So probs for that.
And to d.Apollo and Rotterdam, well done guys. Loved your casting. So full of fun and laughter, no way to not sit and laugh myself when watching the stream.
Good job, great event, hope to see more from your guys in the future.
Yeah getting thirsty going to grab some beer. Just the amount of games i am going to play ^^. Cool comment
Thanks for comments guys, hope you enjoyed the later stages of the tournament where the skill level!! Going to enjoy a beer with the nerds now!!

To make things crytal clear : they played random because the cashprize will be split , SarenS said that on mirc.
thats right, they sort off said the first final ( wb ) is the real final for the one who wins the tournament :D, had some entertaining games, overall final wasnt really my thing, hate to cast such games , nevertheless thx for watching and love to shaun for being my best co-caster ever <3

Which is it, Demuslim gets the money because he won the first series or they're splitting it 50/50?
