The only thing I can give credit to Cat for is offering for them to finish tomorrow, but in her position, if the finals are going to be tomorrow, I would have FORCED him to finish up the series tomorrow. Especially given Silver's goodmannered RM against the first drop from ajtls.

he also said he couldnt play tomorrow, and might even have to miss the finals, due to having to play poker to make money.

obviously if might miss the finals, its not bullshit. o.o

"might" but he wont.
rules are rule, but doesn't make it right.

Silver still has a shot at third place.

It's a douchy move this probably hurts Ajtls more in the long run. He disconnects more often than anyone, and now most people are probably aren't going to give him the chance to replay when he DCs.

I watched the entire stream of Silver vs. Ajtls. Silver should've taken the win after Aj dropped the first game. When Silver gave Aj a re-game, the commentators where praising Silver's good manners. Peoples' preoccupation with manners is sometimes too much. You can't go a week watching a game without someone mentioning manners.

I didn't see Aj do anything wrong and it's within his right to take the win. If you drop a game, the sportsmanship-like thing to do would be to follow the rules, take the loss and move on. Not to rely on the good grace of your opponent to grant you a re-game.

Did Silver not take the win after the 1st game for fear of being perceived as bad mannered? Stream chat seems to reinforce that notion. At least the tourney admins were consistent enforcing their own rules.

qft. also anyone watching the stream could see if ls counter pushed as soon as he dropped, silver would've had no answer for it. so there was no advantage, in fact, silver was probably behind. his expo wasn't up, and he didnt get many scvs, just delayed mining + got depots o.o

D: double orbital with mules and much larger army, silver probably lost.

Except that apparently the tourney rules weren't even clear, though.
Really poor tournament from what I can tell.

Sorry y'all, not really interested in watching a tournament where casters organizers and players alike fumble, mumble and BM all over each other.
Would rather listen to Idra rage about terran imba all day than watch the terrible garbage that went down tonight.

Edit:
Would like to point out that although there is no rule in the first post about dropping from games, there IS this rule:
"* Do not be ill mannered, bad mannered or rude to anyone involved in the tournament. Doing so will result in a disqualification, upon decision of how bad the situation was from the Tournament Admins."

nothing he did would violate those rules.

he [used] the rules to take the win. and as you can see, anyone looking at the situation fully, can understand and agree with what ajtls chose.

xd k well see if he gets back here for the finals D:

The funny thing is, if Silver had taken the win when Ajtls dropped the first time, the series could have ended earlier.

Ajtls is complaining that it was getting late, so he decided to take the walk over. But his matches with Silver only got later because Silver allowed Ajtls to replay the match where Ajtls dropped (and Silver was leading that match too).

I just hope other tournament organizers bar Ajtls from their tournaments for being such a douchebag in this one.

Game 1: Ajtls drops. Silver is given the opportunity to take the win or re-game. He chooses re-game.

Game 3: Silver drops. Ajtls is given the opportunity to take the win or re-game. He chooses to take the win.

There's no explicit rule about dropping but the admin's judgment on the issue is consistent. The organization and manners of the people involved is irrelevant to the issue at hand. The issue being that Ajtls declined to re-game and in your opinion, being bad mannered. What matters is that Ajtls and Silver were given the same opportunities in similar situations. Not your opinion about someone's manners.

couldnt follow it anymore after the 200th TvT of the tournament but i hear Ajtls dropped again? this guy must have the worst ISP in the pro scene right now. you can blame battle.net all you want but when a player disconnects continuously, surely some action must be taken?

anyway, it was a decent tournament but maybe hosting such a large event in 2 days was a little too ambitious.

I will be either posting a new thread or getting tesla to update this one - the finals will be tonight at 7PM EDT

The losers bracket between Silver and Stalife to determine third place can be completed at their discretion, the finals will be cast live.

I don't see anything in the rules about what to do in case of a dropped player.

Unless one player has a significant advantage though it should be a re-game no brainer on the first drop.

Thanks for hosting the tournament, though I am disappointed with the admins ruling about the semi-finals.

Look at the 3rd place match between Tarson and Dimaga at the ESL earlier today. 2-1 in Dimaga favour, Tarson drops due to BNET, refs unsure who was winning and players agree to rematch.

Why would they do that?

"Who wants to stiff someone with a rule to win an important match?" is a better question.

In the end, what goes around comes around though and I think players that enter tournaments should be weary of shortcuts to the winner's circle. You never know who's watching you violate the spirit of the game.
