There is definitely a lot of negativity but there is reason. This could have been avoided with more planning. I'm sure they will do much better next time.

Hey I don't give a fuck about the rules but uh that was a SHITTY move by AJ vs Silver. When AJ said he wouldn't of been able to do anything with that thor, BS, he was about to get supply blocked. AJ cheesed his way through the tourny to even face silver. Silver was about to smoke his ass early game. AND that's the second time it happened. You noticed every time AJ is about to lose early he drops lolwut? If AJ wins that is complete BULLSHIT. Just sayin.

Edit: Now he wants you to feel sorry about him because his parents abandoned him lmao? Fuck that shit, Don't play if you aren't willing to stay up late enough or something like that is even going to restrict you. And that's IF that's even true.

Well it's done, AJ gets the pass. Good job admins sticking to the rules... but horrible BM by AJ, I don't care how tired you are. Silver gave you the replay so you're just a fuckin bitch to not return the favor.

I can't believe I ever thought you had "reformed" or whatever shit, I supported you against all the haters who said you were a faggot, but I guess they were right.

Incredibly bad BM from ajtls. Absolutely worse BM I've ever seen in a tourney. Idra has nothing on the crap that went down tonight.
Silver was incredibly good-mannered and gracious to allow TLS to rematch, and then EVEN GIVEN THE OPTION to rematch TOMORROW by Cat, TLS turned it down and still requested the walkover.
Will never support another Catreina tournament! Will never support ajtls! I was neutral for both players before, but Silver's got a vindicated zealot now!
Incredibly disappointed in Cat.

Literally signed up to TeamLiquid just to post this! AWFUL!

I hate to beat a dead horse, because I love horses, and I hate being negative, but...

If you were around on the stream for an hour leading up to the tournament and an hour after the scheduled start time for the tournament, I think it's hard not to be a little disgruntled. They organized a 512 person tournament and then showed up completely nonchalant and were oblivious to the majority of the problems occurring for the first hour. They told us to wait until 25 after the hour for no-shows, and then spent the majority of the time squabbling over which pro gamer to cast for round one. 80% of the players were left completely in the dark, and random players from the community did a lot more question answering than the admins.

It's not just that they bit off more than they could chew and need a few tournaments under their belt to learn to do things better. They had (what appeared to be) a total disregard for the time commitment of the people in the tournament. That isn't something you need experience to avoid. They spent the majority of the first hour bickering over which game to cast when anyone who wasnt qxc or kawaiirice had no idea what was going on. Casting a game in the first round of a pro stomping on a gold level player should have been very last on the list of things to do, but it seemed to be all they were concerned with. The stream and the thread were full of unanswered questions.

I was mildly offended because I felt like my time was not valued whatsoever. I showed up and had my time wasted. I am perfectly fine with taking one for the team and understanding the bigger picture if the problem that is leading to my time being wasted was unavoidable, but a majority of the problems tonight were completely avoidable.

No offense to the players that are unhappy with this tournament, but last I looked, there is no cost to signing up for this tournament, meaning this tournament is FREE for you to play.

If this tournament is FREE for you to play and you don't even have to travel to play it, then you should be grateful to Caterina and Tesla for taking their time to organize this, finding sponsors, and having a prize pool for the community.

Taking your frustration out on the organizers just discourages them (and other organizers) from organizing SC2 tournaments in the future. I'm sure Caterina and Tesla will smoothen things out by tomorrow, but to all the ******* who are griping on the organizers, this may be the last time they organize a FREE event for your benefit.

Less organizers of SC2 tournaments is a LOSS for the SC2 community. Just be patient and let them learn from tonight so we as a community can benefit from organizers like them for future tourneys.

The players invest time. They say time is money for a reason. Monetary investments are not the only kinds of investments one can make.

Less organizers for sc2 tournaments isn't a loss for the sc2 community in every regard. I'd rather have five refined and efficient tournament organizers than 20 mediocre ones. If the tournament organizers have a habit of putting together tournaments that fall apart or that the community is displeased with, i think it is completely proper to have them feel some heat so they either step up their game or move aside from more capable organizers.

I don't mean to imply that these tournament organizers are ones that should be pushed aside, but competition breeds better competitors. Reasonable criticism is very necessary. I don't think its a stretch to say that this tournament fell apart pretty quickly. If you don't make displeasure known, you're not going to get as much growth in tournament quality.

This x 100. Well said.

1. 512 people monitored by 2 (or 4, whatever) is insane. Get more volunteers.
2. That many games cannot be physically played and updated in one day, let alone at the latest hours of night. This should have been done with one round being a few days, that way you could play a game, send in replay, get your next opponent. You said you did so to avoid conflict with any other tournaments, but I don't see any going on this weekend.
3. Having check-ins for a 512 person tournament is just silly. Just tell people to play their games. They knew weeks in advance where to be, and if they don't show, their opponent gets a by. Simple as that.

Of course, this post might be claimed to be too harsh and white knights will simply flame me.

1. Quite a few 512 man tournaments are run by a single person (ie, GosuCoaching weekly by Xeris).

ya but...xeris is a god @_@

Rules are rules. AJ was tired, and he knows he's going to have to live with his choice. Don't bad manner him in this thread, please. It doesn't really lead anywhere to make posts like this.

Silver still has a shot at third place.

Nice hate in your first post.

Do NOT put this on Cat, she stuck to the rules. They both knew the rules, and just b/c it isn't silver's fault doesn't mean the rules should be bent. Incredible BM, for sure, but to put this on Cat is uncalled for. Also, who cares if a 1-post user will never watch a Cat tourney again... screw off.

he's been awake for over fourty hours, and has been playing tournaments all day long since 11am est, he has been on SC2 from 11am till now (5am) thats almost 24hrs straight of sc2.

he felt like and probably did have the advantage in the last game, he had a faster expo, more tech, and 4 siege tanks with maurauders to just 2 thors.

he's extremely tired, and has to sleep.

he apologized for having to do it like this, he's always given people replays, like slush, or others in tournaments. he's also had this rule used against him in the past (iem and gosucoaching).

xd

The truth is that with his history Lastshadow should be in top manner behavior. This lack of sportsmanship, especially in light of the kind gesture silver made to him earlier shows that he is still a ruthless little prick. I feel like its only time before he gets caught cheating again.

That bullshit about being awake for 40 hours and then he started pouring on about all kinds of other bull. I don't know for sure of course but for someone who has no problem with chain lying and fantastic delusions...

Refs and Organizers in other sports receive flak for poor decision making in the face of rules (which, in this case, were apparently unclear).
I don't see why Starcraft refs and organizers are somehow not allowed to receive the same sort of flak.
They (Cat) have the final say, and so the blame lays equally on her.
Take your carebear attitudes somewhere else, the fact of the matter is that AJTLS showed incredibly poor sportsmanship, and Cat showed incredibly poor decision making.

he also said he couldnt play tomorrow, and might even have to miss the finals, due to having to play poker to make money.

He wont be missing the finals. He will be "coming home to play and hoping that it is quick then going back to the poker house"

BS.
In lpp's chat with ajtls, he complained that Cat told him that the finals would have to be completed tonight.
IE he is complaining because he would rather play finals tomorrow.
