Leaving the caster out of the game and insisting he can't cast when this is indeed a sponsored tournament where the prize pool was provided by ESL who wants these games to be casted is a pretty bad move. It's also a pretty bad move forcing players to play in laggy conditions just so people can watch it live. There's always the option of watching the replay later. If someone loses a game because of the lag they can't replay it, and it's even worse in this case because they wouldn't qualify.

Just to be clear, I'm not blaming my loss to Fenix on lag, I was outplayed. Congratulations to him, he deserves to advance. But nevertheless it was still infuriating when my mass mutalisks ran into thors (automatically clumping) and there was nothing I could do but watch. it's bad enough that i might just give up on sc2 for now if i cannot figure out a way to get around this constant lag issue ive been having with bnet 2.0. i didn't have lag this bad in beta, but ever since release, at peak hours I get insane, stuttery lag (and often disconnect) I've Verizon FIOS in southern california, 30 Mb/sec down and upload, but that does not seem to matter for my ping/connection to bnet ![]()

Yeah, they really are that pathetic..

Are these two IEMs completely separate? IEM Cologne is a Global Challenge which is mostly invite only for prize money whereas the open IEM Qualifiers we are running lead to the American Finals and eventually the Global Finals. It was Zelniq v Fenix, not v Drewbie 2. It was a matter of lag. It wasn't like they just refused for no reason (like someone else in the cup was doing). I know Zelniq had been having problems with lag most of the tournament and there was horrible lag when the match first started with casters. The decision to drop all casters had to be done to allow the match to be played. It's much more important to give the players a better match experience than to get the match casted. Getting the match played under the best conditions takes priority over live spectating, especially when replays are usually available soon after the match, as others have already explained above me. On August 09 2010 12:43 rrowland wrote: The lag was clearly Wolf, he dropped after the 5 minute load screen. That Wolf wasn't me btw. Gonna say that now before people try putting 2 and 2 together. I wasn't even invited to the first match because of the already existing lag problem + casters already on the server.

He catches *most* of the action and seems fairly knowledgeable - at least enough to tell us who is winning and who is losing and be right most of the time. Are you actually serious? BigT has to be one of the worse casters currently on Teamliquid. His knowledge of the different races is almost non-existant (Stalkers outrange Colossi when they dont have their upgrade, and he plays Protoss), he does almost never catch unusual BO's since he ONLY plays Protoss, he is only an average player (56% winrate) but he proclaims he has THE BEST ZEALOT MICRO ON THE ENTIRE BNET, he constantly states the obvious without actually thinking about how / why the player does it, he thinks he is supersmart with his gameplay analysis (oohh X is gonna lose here because Y's play counters him perfectly in the dark, X should really be doing Z), ignorant of the fact that with the "everyone" view of the game anyone can say these things, he's incredibly narcissistic (repeating how awesome he is every 5 minutes, how his stream is the best stream, ignoring all criticism(if you dont like it leave ... how childish), or saying "take care of that shit, son" every time he makes someone a mod), he's not well versed AT ALL often looking for the most simple words, that even I can think of in an instant, and I'm not even a native speaker and he's unprofessional (uponst chatting with a semi-pro for the first time "yo can i cast ur games? :o" or showing HuK's MSN in front of 2.5k viewers, or telling HuK before important tournament games which style and build his future opponent favors, not leaving the game when he lags and HuK wants him to leave, etc.etc.) I could go on and on, and I wouldn't really complain about all his wrongdoings if he was just nice and not such a douchebag. In the end, I found it quite laughable that he wanted to start a streaming site and was collecting donations for it, since he has almost 0 qualities that would make him an enjoyable person to listen to. (In comparison to HD & Husky who obviously lack a bit of knowledge (still miles better than BigT) they are at least modest and seem like nice people IRL.

If I could give BigT advice it would be to turn down his mouse scroll speed and stop trying to select everything like it's the first 5 minutes of a game and you want to inflate your apm. Everyone does that sorta stuff when they watch replays on their own, but on a stream it's nauseating. He also tends to miss a lot of action because he's off selecting minerals where no one has a base and scrolling back and forth while on the minimap there's clearly a battle going on. It seems to me like he really likes to lord over his channel, most times people are just watching it because there's no other channel, or it's something like the gosugamers official channel featuring some kid who forgot his ritalin, I don't see a reason to get a huge ego over that. I get a real douchebag vibe from listening to him. I am not trying to be an asshole, it's just the overall attitude he conveys on his stream. I don't know how much of it's an act or if that's just how he is, it's not very endearing at all though. I can't use Day 9 as an example, because he's like a casting paragon. I'll use HD and Husky, despite all their success, they aren't half as egomaniacal as BigT comes off
