As HD and Husky uploadin 1080P, the file size works out to be around the same as if they were still restricted to 10 minutes
Thats not true at all...Partner can upload up to 20GB for each video.
The reson they dont is that uploading in more parts give more ads and more overall video views for their channel. I dont blame them thought as I might have done the same and it dont realy hurt any.

Ever tried to render and upload 20+ min Full HD videos? It's especially fun if something goes wrong. You can watch everything for free and it's a lot of work for them, what is your fucking problem.

It takes more time to upload and render Two 10 minute HD videos then it does 1 20 minute HD video, it's to generate more views and thus earn more money for them, that's what his point was.

It doesn't matter if it is free. It isn't ideal, and complaining about it is an easy way to get the organizers to be aware of the problem. Please stop attacking people in posts.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth If they want to split them in 10 parts that's their prerogatives you're free to not watch. They don't seems to split vids that are less than 15 mn maybe they have problems you're not aware of.

honestly for the little extra clicking we do, they can make 3x more money. at least 1/3 of that can be for a tournament or something.. think about it?
does that extra few clicks really matter to you that much? if they do then you shouldn't be watching sc2 videos as that is a extreme time drainer.

Soooo, any update on when this is starting?

I'm sorry, but why shouldn't a person have the right to make the most out of their channel, if they invested months and months of hard work and time, when they were getting not a single penny? On the other hand, why do people feel like they have the right do demand more and more and call others greedy, when they watch their videos for free without giving anything in return? Casting isn't easy, you get judged by thousands of people everday, there are already Starcraft Youtube Casters that stopped, because they got pissed about the endless flame they received. Now they set up another tourney with the best players they could get for Starcraft 2 and you guys start to complain, because they weren't able to make the announcment at the right time, even when they were on the way to MLG?
You know, it would be time to be thankful for the effort of every caster out there, in a way, clicking a few more times is supporting them, but I guess that's too much to ask for.
|
This needs to start!
I suppose it's tough, though, with all of these players being involved in other tournaments. Especially the GSL.
|
They split them up because they do not have a very good and stable internet connection. Reuploading 30 mins of video is way worse than reuploading 10 mins of video.
|
I'm picking oGsCool to win it all. Is there any news on the prize pool? Couldn't find anything from search.
|
wanna see oGs clan tear this shit up :D

And don't even start with the "connection problems", please...I almost laugh only thinking about it. XD
The real problem obviously isn't the fact I have to close\reopen fullscreen, change tab, click a video, get it at 1080p, fullscreen again. The problem is that this process usually spoils the lenght of the game, and they can easily avoid it. In theory this was one of the reasons they got patnership for, or no?
There's plenty of others that immediatly trow away the 10-15 min limit as soon as they got the patnership. If they don't want to do that it's their choice, but whoever doesn't like this attitude is free to complain about it.
PS: one workaround they can make is create a link at the end of the video with the next part, as I've recently seen done by another youtuber

let them take their time ffs, so far this looks as huge as TSL(and thats BIG for a online tournament), we got GSL comming up, and there are still plenty of good tournaments(Global Gamers, ect)
less rushing, more quality

You shouldn't be so dismissive to the points people are bringing forward because they are very valid.

I (and not only me, oc) have yet to see a valid point apart from the "they make more views\money". Oc you are free to believe whatever you want.

It's also easier to download HD videos in parts, when your connection isn't perfect. Many people seriously complained about loading times of the videos from King of the Beta, which were often 30+ mins in HD. Notably it took Day9 quite a lot of time to upload some of these (again some people complained), I'm sure he could confirm it was because of the amount of failed uploads of ridiculously huge files and/or the relevant times for re-encoding. So, it's not really a clear no-brainer choice.

Do you have a problem with getting more views/money? Honestly, stop bitching.

protoss is rather underrepresented. Well, I suppose, it's not as bad as random, but that is to be expected

Husky already addressed it was bandwidth issues. That's why it takes him forever to upload different parts of a game. HD and Husky don't have reliable connections. Deal with it.
