So far TLO is the only "foreigner" I really enjoyed watching, but I'm not really sure if he's able to hold his ground against Tester / Rainbow. I think WhiteRa had a lot of real life issues lately, so he probably didn't have a lot of time practicing, might explain why he didn't play on his usual level in Phase 2. Kinda lost a little bit respect for Huk / Idra in this tournament, I guess the decision is between Tester, Rainbow and TLO. Wouldn't be surprised if it ends in exactly this order :D

Tester vs Huk, game 2, contains spoilers for Whitera vs IntoTheRainbow.
I had no way to tell what game was played first, so please avoid that for the VODs in the future, thanks.

I'm enjoying the heck out of King of the beta tourney, especially watching those two play.

But it does seem, at least from the optics, that these two players are far and above their competition.

I almost get the feeling that, to make an analogy, there's a tournament for great regional tenis players, and they have to compete against Pete Sampras and Nadal to win the money.

Was it generally known that these two players would steamroll their competition? Are these two regarded as the best players in Korea, or are these two typical korean players, and typical korean players are generally that much better than everyone else??

I wanted to respond to a thread about the 2 koreans being too good, and how it's not interresting to look at them against lower players. It was closed so I post here :p

I agree with you that they are much more stronger than other players.

But it's a very good thing to me that just before the launch of the beta, we have to proof that skill actually matters in SC2.
Looking at those Kors bashing top EU/US players is sooo reassuring.

SC2 will be a great game !

Every single matchup and game is listed in order, look for "when" on the first page.

Assuming you mean ITR and Tester:

Are these two regarded as the best players in Korea?

Yes. Their clan OGS is apparantly owning pretty hard in Korea.

They play a lot more flawless, but it's not like they didn't have close games (and it seems like Tester even lost a game to HuK, though we don't have the rep yet).

And seriously, why call it "King of the Beta" if you're not inviting the best players of each region?

They're not in order on blip.tv, where I watched them.

Why does Day9 always shows the resource tab insead of the income tab? I mean we can see the resources when he clicks the players units.. I just notices that on the King of the Beta, in casts before he always showed the income tab. In one cast he said while having the resource tab open: "Oh my god look at the resource counting station, he's way behind in resources" - i mean, it says nothing but he's better in macro, isnt he? Is it possible that he interchanges something there?!

He doesnt do so conciously you just forget after a while / if you concentrate on the battless. Production and Income in second are the most important tabs imo.

fighters read sherdog all the time, phil baroni, brandon vera, rampage, josh barnett and more even has posts on sherdog.

Not to mention even more fighters post on the UG regularly. A lot less now that the sport is bigger and the fans have become more outspoken/negative and they don't like having to deal with that.

Seems to me that day9 very rarely shows the income tab. Their resources and their food count can usually be seen in other ways, but knowing the worker count and the current income of the players can sometimes be difficult without the income tab open. I am hoping that more casters are going to leave the income tab open in the future. It is by far the most interesting tab in my opinion. At some times the prodcution tab is equally important, but those two are far ahead of any of the others.

I wondered about the tabs too, unfortunately he doesn't seem to be a big fan of the production tab. He would always see if one of the players gets a certain upgrade / tech structure, instead of searching through the base and missing it in the worst case.

Can not believe just how good Korean players are. It is like different category. Watching games with them i felt really sorry for rest of the world players.

Yeah these Koreans do feel like they play on another level.

But let's stay a bit objective. For starters they're professional gamers right. And if we look at the games, Idra coulda beaten Tester's pylon cheese if he had been less caught off guard imo. If instead of teching Lair needlessly he just baneling-busts the front, it becomes a clean-up. It would be like Dimaga's busts but more effective because Tester wasted minerals on the ramp-wall and double cybernetics core. And the Whitera vs ITTR games, if Whitera didn't send his probe down prematurely (which warned ITTR and he cancelled gas and built a second rax asap) he coulda probably taken that cheese game, seeing how close it still was now. Second game he foolishly lets his scouting probe die. I think he was a bit off his game or he could have simply probe-blocked that factory from landing. Then there's Huk who took a game off of Tester (still wanna see!) and the last game was very very close.

Am i the only one who is amazed at Dimaga's games vs White-Ra ?? We've been told so many times that zerg is a macro race, you have to drone up and defend or play reaction style... He made 8 drones and then went all out agression. I loved it

If blizzard truly was for E-sports in SC2, it would sponsor tester's team and house right away. We need more awesome Starcraft from these guys, not more mediocre Starcraft.

The last game was not really close at all. If Huk made a collosus, then ya it would have been close but he didn't. Tester just walked right over Huk with the forcefield ramp. I still don't understand WTF was up with the Robo bay but not collosus.

Watching the 2 Koreans play vs. the foreigners was like night and day.

The Koreans are playing the game as it should be played. Intuitively with creativity, flair and real-time reaction.

The foreign players just play so mechanically by comparison. It's like comparing Kobe Bryant with Corey Maggette (for those who follow the NBA).

Only TLO displays some of the Korean approach... but his mechanics don't seem to be as strong as theirs.

Bottom line, the way Tester and ITR are playing is the way the game should be played. It 100% more entertaining.

He was going Colossus but when he saw the tester is going mainly Stalkers, he probably just thought that Immortals would be a good choice.
Stalkers can be picked pretty easily by blink stalkers.
