2nd = 150$ cash + Razer Tarantula Gaming Keyboard - OEM Voodoo Red Edition

All Players are entered into a raffle for a chance of Five 20$ gift certificate to A-Power Computers.

You don't have to pay up front and can still register now and pay at the door. But Pre Paid users are entered into the additional draw for a SC2 retail box!

I actually don't think you need a passport to come up to Canada from the states, visa, yeah, but passport, don't think so. I know you do need proof of citizenship, or permanent residence though.

According to the 1v1 diamond rankings we have 2 people (nEAnS, Stalife) in the top 20 coming to this lan and atleast 10 others from diamond showing up!

might also want to run it by dustin (owner of vs-gaming) just to make sure he doesn't have a problem with it. But yeah I don't see a problem with you filming ced. Might ask for a copy myself for promo purposes, if you/anyone filmed, don't mind.

I wish I could see some farther-east players come to these, but I can try and contact them in some other manner. Wish I could get some video with everyone, though, especially HuK. Will most of you be down with this?

shit, i did not realize at all this lan is during my vacation (dammit, its right after SC2 release.. damn cognitive dissonance) im coming back about then, so i might be able to bump it up and come, but I probably should not have registered before I realized this.. :E

In regards to spectators we do have limited space, so I'm not sure how many extra people we can fit. That being said if you want to show up, you're welcome to, we might need to stuff spectators into a corner at times though...

We do have some high rated players, but there is still quite a few people from the mid Gold/Silver level. The tourney is laid out so that you have to just play well within your pool first. Always a chance to take a few games in those situations.

Yes, we would love to have some spectators. Truthfully we want to get as many people out as we can. If we get enough people we are hoping to be able to hold a raffle or something for additional prizes.

Alright guys! After only a week of opening regsitration for this event we only 5 slots left for pre-registration!!!

You can pay at the door
Registering just mean's you are guaranteed a spot at the event. We will be emailing everyone with information about paying at the door and what time to be their... and some other stuff in a few days to come.

I remember there being a TV and a sofa for playing console games. We could potentially just hook up a computer to the TV, and everyone can gather and watch the TV . I'm not sure if it's still there, that was 2 yrs ago

Yeah the TV is there, but we will most likely need to use it to display Tourney info and games. Cant do it all off memory
Spec'ing will be standing room but there is a tonn of room for that so it wont be too bad.

Still register. At this time the tourney spots are full. People will be added to the wait list. If someone does not show the wait list is used.
People who register now and pre-pay on the form will guarantee a tourney spot.
Also, make sure you do come, as NoHrt said we are going to run a raffle and door prizes so hopefully a lot of people make away with some loot.

I think this is the most accurate we data for the players that we can find, because most of us did play in phase 2. In the first week out from release, it will be chaos with ladders and the amount of people on bnet. Yes there are many flyers ( ) below the radar, only time will tell.

Haha, just looked at the chart. Very funny thing, considering 90% of my games in phase 2 were customs/team games. Not saying how it is evil or anything, but any predictions it makes should certainly be taken with a grain of salt. It is the best method we have to predict, but do we really want/need to predict? After all, this is just for fun for the most part, am I right? Not like this is an invitational or a showmatch or anything.
I am looking forward to this tournament a lot, and I hope everyone has fun!

I'm stoked for this event, even though I doubt ill win. The experience will be nice and i've played CSS tourneys at VS gaming and their place is really quite nice, although a little small cant expect much more for downtown vancouver.

Hey just wondering how early you guys are planning on lining up if you are going to a midnight release? What you think the turn-out will be like? I remember for Halo 3 it wasn't that bad at all but that was the last midnight release i went to and hopefully SC2 will be larger :D i know there are a lot of koreans here in coquitlam haha

Staflite and firezerg, did either one of you go to the anime evo 2008 I think it was? Where they had a very small sc tourney. I remember someone there was who seemed way better than everyone else, but I was like D-----, so I couldn't tell.

one thing to keep in mind, we have space for 50 people, right now we have 65 signups first 50 have priority, however, if you're not there by 11:30 (tournament start time) we will have to fill your slot to get the tournament started. Everyone should show up, even if you're not in the first 50, there will be lots to do, lots of chat, will be a great time.
If you've pre-payed (through paypal) you are guaranteed a slot, but please show up early so we can sign you in, and give you your first round schedule.

All the computers have generic keyboards, and mx518 mice. You can change settings in control panel, however there is a pretty strict no software installation rule there so if you have a custom mouse that requires it's own software, I'd recommend not bringing it, you most likely will not be able to use it properly.
The only thing I reall recommend bringing is headsets, the ones that are there are 'decent' but they're not the best, and they're shared amongs all of VS's customers...
Keep in mind 1 thing guys, each of these computers are setup so that you have 2 usb ports, and a mic/speaker port, if you are using a ps2 mouse/keyboard?????? don't bring it, it wont work. Also, if you have a usb keyboard, and mouse, and headset, one of them wont work (unless you have USB ports on your keyboard...)
For food, there will be breaks between the rounds, and there is a coffee shop next door, we should be able to raid them when needed.
Final note, Dustin (owner of VS) will be getting there at around 10:30, as will we, that means that we won't be able to get in prior to that. Sign in will start at 11:30, tourney starts at 12.

Those non-ladder maps are really terrible... my friends and I have been playing on them and they are super bad... especially that worldship one. I sincerely hope they are removed from the map pool

ummm has anyone actually played these maps? my friends and I were doing some practice games to warm up on them, and we are feeling that these maps have some serious issues that make them not fit for competitive play.
for example the close gold for floating CCs
extra wide ramps into main base with a natural base that is hard to defend.
Anyone else think these non ladder maps could be a problem as well?

Yea, they are really bad maps. I haven't really played them, but just opened a custom game and looked around. They're... man, they are definitely not on the ladder for a reason.

They are not balanced. I think it would be best to simply go with ladder rotation maps for a more fair/competitive tournament.

FYI guys,
We are playing all the maps in the ladder rotation except for 1 which is Delta Quadrant.
The reason why we have the other maps in the mix is because we have alot of rounds to go through and there are not enough maps that are in the ladder rotation. So we only threw in 1 random map first round and 2 random maps the second round.
but if there is enough of an out cry im sure we can switch things up a bit at the event.

Drewbie-drops are awesome. Fakes an attack at the front, then drops in the back, takes out a tech structure (like robo bay), and flies out again. And in the middle of a big confrontation when the protoss was doing a final push to the terran base, we suddenly get a "player will be revealed". Drewbie had also dropped his main at the same time rofl.

I'm still sorting out all the replays, there are lots of duplicates, and no real easy way of organizing them. Once I'm done I will upload the whole batch of them to our website as a zip file, and will post a link here.

Lol, the caster thought I Maynard my entire probe line to my expo which wasnt even done yet. T_T I was being Banshee harass'd and they didn't catch that. Funny

I sorted all the ones I had, unfortunately, courtesy of blizzard and it's 'wonderful' replay management, some of them came fudged, pissed me off, but I have the vast majority of them, but I am missing about 5-10 replays in total.
We will be reviewing them over the next few days, and getting our top 3 up for the pwnage map of the night vote up.
If anyone's wondering, the 3rd place match (ViralRush vs WeaponX) was supposed to be a best of 5, but WeaponX conceded after going 0-2, this is why we only have 2 replays...
PM me if you want your replay folder.
In the PM, please include your email address, and the user ID you used when you signed up for a VS-gaming.ca account.
Also please remember, most of you still have time at vs-gaming.ca please use it, bring friends out, and support the local gaming cafe community.
