Now that I think about it, I haven't seen many NA vs Asia games. The only one I can think of was Tester ripping through gosucoaching that one time. Since Idra plays Asia I guess you can count him but I'd very much like to see the very top US players go against some asians. So even though I'm not too sure how everything will play out I want to see these 16

NA
Machine
Slush
qxc
cauthonluck
Nony
Huk

EU
Whitera
TLO
Demuslim
Dimaga
Haypro

Asia
Idra (he plays asia so I count him here)
Cool
Tester
Maka
Check (or one of the oGs players)

1.) why no love for Orb? I thought Orb was pretty cool, I enjoyed his show, a few "orb knows best" educated me more than a bunch of Day[9]s. Well Day[9] is more theoretical and planning where as Orb actually shows you what to do In game, alot quicker to learn but... Day[9] just does it more thoroughly and slower pace. All in all both are great.

2.) Make a "guess a number between bla & bla" or "make a donation page" and whoever guesses the right # or donates the most gets a special seat to compete with the rest in the HDH2.

3.) Invite the sc1 korean pros? I mean just for the lols, sure they dont practice sc2 but I am SURE that they've PLAYED it at least a few times out of curiosity. SC is so big for them, i'd be hella surprise if they haven't at least PLAYED the beta.

4.) Even high prize pool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6.5 Zerg

Should make for some epic matches.

I love the list! One point of contention though... while I love Idra's bm, I would absolutely include Idra in that list even if he wasn't a bad-mannered player. He's that good.

Anyone know a good site to host some files? I have the RO16 and RO8 replays compiled together. A couple of the RO4/Finals replays seem to be corrupt so I'm seeing if I can get full copies.

Thanks!

Not sure what Husky and HD's vision is for the next tournament, but I really like the idea of giving ~4 spots to qualifiers. It eliminates all the chatter about certain people not being invited and it creates the opportunity for a dark horse. Of course, it's more organizing and administration, so it does come at a price. You might want to delegate that work if you can find some trustworthy volunteers.

I absolutely loved the HDH with so many quality games played, it was just awesome to see. Qualifiers might be very cool indeed, but part of the charm of the HDH to me was I already knew all the players before the tournament, and was very interested in seeing who would win.
But indeed, qualifiers usually provide amazing underdogs and surprisingly good players.

Also I just wanted to say, I've seen a lot of people criticise HD and Husky, comparing them to, for instance Day[9] (who is totally awesome), but to be quite honest I've really enjoyed watching the HDH, and their commentary, which is what matters most I think. Thanks for all your work!

Er, isnt it called the HDH Invitational?

Who cares if these guys are just the big names. I agree that there are probably some awesome unknowns who could do well if they qualified, but qualifying isnt exactly the nature of an invitational. So, anyone who bitched about it is a turd brain.

Of course HD and Husky have holes in their commentary (watching the mini map and production tab is key), but so does any commentator, and just try commentating a game and finding stuff to talk about for 10-30 minutes. I would love to see the 2 become more profound and sound in their game analysis, but I think that comes with time and experience, they are on the right track so far.

A compromise would be for the organizers to do a little research and invite lesser known players. I think it's a good opportunity to refresh the list of people everyone knows and wants to see play, as well as gives hope to people who would otherwise not think they had a chance in being involved in something so big so early on.

I support this idea. I know there are a lot of relative unknown players that can compete with many of the players people have mentioned, so it would be nice to give them a chance to get into a big tournament like this. It also gives us more games to watch.

Of course people are going to have an opinion. There is both pros and cons with an invitational. You get the names you want, mostly for pr and entertainment reasons, but that can come at the prize of competitiveness. Personally I'd prefer having mostly qualifiers, maybe with a few wild-card spots that you can give to some household names if they don't make it

That said, I don't mind invitationals at all, but it is nice to see a good mix of different formats. In the end it's up to what HD and Husky feel like doing.

they could just say they will invite the top 4 from one of the weekly tourneys like the gosucoaching tourney, no extra work for them, and gives everyone who wants it a chance... pure win
