[G] ZvT 2.5 Base Speed Bane All-in

This build is a lair-tech all-in that is incredibly difficult to scout and against the meta, allowing you to catch Terran completely off-guard a lot of the time.

Pros:

Against the current roach/muta-centric meta
Good in current map pool (wide natural chokes, shortish rush distance)
Very strong against reaper openers
Incredibly hard to scout/read as Terran
Low skill cap (easy to execute)

Cons:

Have to commit fairly early on to the build
Has difficult time against tank-openers*
Very all-in as you forgo any lair-tech buildings in order to afford banes
Low skill cap (Good Terrans have a lot of room to outplay)

BO:

17 hatch
18 gas
17 pool
@100% pool, 2x queen and 4 lings to deal with reaper
@100 gas, ling speed
@100% queens, 3rd queen for creep spread and defense
33 overlord
36 hatch
@100 gas, lair, 2nd gas
@50 gas, bane nest

if Terran begins to harass with hellions, add in enough lings to push them away. Otherwise, continue droning

@100% lair, bane speed and stop droning, only ling production

@75-80% bane speed, morph as many banes as possible (~18) and push with bane speed

Early game:

Try to use proper overlord placement to determine whether or not Terran is doing a reaper opening. If Terran does commit to a lot of reapers, I find it’s best to stay on 2 base, droning the natural as much as possible, and then trying to engage the reapers out in the middle of the map with speedlings once you have a critical mass (30+). Otherwise, just use queens and lings to deflect early reapers, and secure your third at around 36 supply


Mid game:

The biggest part of the mid-game, aside from the execution of the all-in, is ensuring Terran doesn’t scout what you are doing. The third should convince most Terrans you will be playing standard, so all you should have to do is use good speedling placement to deny reaper scouts/hellion dives into your base.
Another thing to note is that once lair is ~50% done, try to sacrifice an overlord/ling to scout the opener Terran is going for. If Terran has a tech-labbed factory and naked starport, it’s likely they’ll be doing a tank opener. You can try and play around this, waiting for Terran to move out with their tank before doing the bane bust, however, the safer play may be to transition to a fast mute build, adding on extra gas and a spire at 100% lair, abandoning the bane bust and using the fast mutas to shut down any mid-game tank aggression, and transition to a normal mid/late game.

Once you get to ~50% bane ling speed, try to take map control, whether that’s trying to surround any hellions out on the map or shutting down an early marine/mine drop. + Show Spoiler +

You want to make sure you have your banes morphing on Terran’s side of the map at ~80% bane speed.
Once your banes are finished morphing and bane speed is done, it’s time to blow ‘em up. With your banes, you want to bust walls. As soon as you’ve broken the natural wall, run straight up the main ramp and blow up the supply depots walling off.+ Show Spoiler +

Then, try to save any remaining banes for an scv pull, as scvs + marines/hellions are really strong against pure ling, but not so much against any amount of banes. With your lings, you want to focus tanks -> hellions -> marines. Ideally you want to split your lings into groups based on how Terran has their army split up, forcing Terran to micro in as many places as possible, and hopefully forcing as many errors as possible on their part. Aside from that, you are only killing scvs and units. Going for tech buildings is a no-go outside of really specific situations as Terran will have significantly better tech and more workers, so you have to stop them from mining and stay on their production as fast as possible.


Maps:

The best maps for this build will have a short rush distance, wide natural/main ramp, and wide natural/main base. This season, the best maps are going to be Invader LE, Frozen Temple, Ruins of Endion (if you can take map control early enough to prevent the rocks from going down), and Prion Terraces.

So this is like the speed bane all-in Dark did vs Dream in HotS? I loved that build and missed it in Legacy.

I played vs that and got completely blindsided as I was going for a marine/mine drop.
Hellion opening should beat it though.
Many of the coolest moments in sc2 happen due to worker harassment

It's actually directly inspired from that game! The difference in LoTV is you can afford a third base.

I think in theory you're right but, at least in my experience, Terran is often caught off guard by the huge swell of lings and lose them on my side of the map
