But seriously, mutastacking as it is being used is fine; you simply don't want it a lot of the time, because of the high risk low reward.

You are not always going to fly straight towards a thor; the usual thing is that you are harassing somewhere, and the thor is going to be commanded to attack you. And if you didn't fly in facing the Thor with the first mutalisk, he is gonna come from a side.

This is exactly my point! :D This technique allows for the strength of a large muta force in a small area, while not putting every one vulnerable. Let's compare this technique to let's say the spam right click technique for muta stacking. If you accidentally stumble on a thor with this technique the lone muta takes damage, while the rest lagged behind just far enough to avoid the splash hit. You then hotkey the other group immediately and move back. Now the spam right click would be able to react slightly fast to move away(1 less hotkey press), however multiple mutas would take damage.

I started using this tecnique to stack my phoenixes for cool movement when they patched the patrol away. You can still make funny raxspin probably too. what if your muta ball was so big you just sacrificed one muta every time? like if you have 30, you micro down the 2 turrets while 1 dies, you're left with 29 and an exposed min line. If there is 6 and a thor you aint probably attacking that anyway. If its just 6 turret its rare situation you would destroy those. Still that one muta owuld get oneshotted again. IF it's one turret or maybe 2. You dont need to care about it about taking one volley from a turret. e: Btw when you people engage against thor dont you prespread your muta before going in. T_T? e2: If 30muta is overexaggrated then you could most likely micro targeted muta away. You would lose less. "good for mineralline harassment"? If you got that many muta you can go over them and stutterstep them with retreating scv's. If you got 5 or 6 you want to target fire.

Also difficult to micro due to the small lag between when the front muta does stuff and the rest catch up, which really sucks since mutas require hairpin movements.
