Thanks for telling me another thing I have to avoid to not get all my mutas killed in a Thorvolley or storm/archon shot or a Fungal growth.

But seriously, mutastacking as it is being used is fine; you simply don't want it a lot of the time, because of the high risk low reward.

thats a good point, the thor will always target the first mutalisk. so when you charge in, it will bait the thor for your flock

that's completly dependend on the angle the thor is engaging the mutalisks and whether or not he is being controlled.

edit: Yes, it depends on if the thor is being microed or not. everything depends on weather or not a user is making it do something else.

You are not always going to fly straight towards a thor; the usual thing is that you are harassing somewhere, and the thor is going to be commanded to attack you. And if you didn't fly in facing the Thor with the first mutalisk, he is gonna come from a side.

I don't find this very useful as the mutalisk stack lags behind, and therefore they also attack noticeably later than the 1st (leader) mutalisks does. like when i attack an scv line, the first mutalisk attacks, then the rest do shortly after, rather than they all attack at the same time. also yes while harassing, because the first one is taking all the damage cus it's in front, it'll die first and fast (to say turrets/marines)

what if your muta ball was so big you just sacrificed one muta every time? like if you have 30, you micro down the 2 turrets while 1 dies, you're left with 29 and an exposed min line.

This is exactly my point! :D This technique allows for the strength of a large muta force in a small area, while not putting every one vulnerable. Let's compare this technique to let's say the spam right click technique for muta stacking. If you accidentally stumble on a thor with this technique the lone muta takes damage, while the rest lagged behind just far enough to avoid the splash hit. You then hotkey the other group immediately and move back. Now the spam right click would be able to react slightly fast to move away(1 less hotkey press), however multiple mutas would take damage.

When I go into base I send 1 muta toward center of base. Negates gains of this technique. When I attack a gas and avoid turret in mineralline, this tecnique gets skimped. When I go around thight corner avoiding turrets, the angle wouldnt be good with this tecnique. I just see good thorpresence and massclick superior in every situation. If you were to fight with this, nothing is going to stop terran player from manualattcking your mutaflock, and if there is morethan one - that one lone muta will die instantly. So this also requires 2 binds so I bind the 1 and flock i n3 and 9?

I started using this tecnique to stack my phoenixes for cool movement when they patched the patrol away. You can still make funny raxspin probably too.

what if your muta ball was so big you just sacrificed one muta every time? like if you have 30, you micro down the 2 turrets while 1 dies, you're left with 29 and an exposed min line.

If there is 6 and a thor you aint probably attacking that anyway. If its just 6 turret its rare situation you would destroy those. Still that one muta owuld get oneshotted again. IF it's one turret or maybe 2. You dont need to care about it about taking one volley from a turret.

e: Btw when you people engage against thor dont you prespread your muta before going in. T_T?
e2: If 30muta is overexaggrated then you could most likely micro targeted muta away. You would lose less.

"good for mineralline harassment"? If you got that many muta you can go over them and stutterstep them with retreating scv's. If you got 5 or 6 you want to target fire.

A nice novelty but useless when the front muta gets picked off, which is very likely to happen.
Also difficult to micro due to the small lag between when the front muta does stuff and the rest catch up, which really sucks since mutas require hairpin movements.
Starcraft is a lifestyle.

Isn't this pretty old? I've seen it done against me ZvZ with mutas following an overlord. The overlord is never autotargetted over the mutas and therefore you can restack and attack easily without it dying.

lol this is VERY old. I've done this since Brood War back in evolves madness. I dont think it's good in a ladder game since 1 thor can make all your mutas cry. It would be good in zvp, but u dont really need to stack mutas to rape mineral lines.

Situationally excellent. Detractors assume this is the one and only way to do it, but you can always rebind and reorganize depending on what you see. For the first wave of Mutas, before a large amount of overkill or defense happens, this is great. The only thing is, taking out two hotkeys to control essentially one thing may be cause for concern.
