I haven't been following the scene for the past month and I'd like to catch up on what's been going on. I searched around on the gomtv site for quite a while but couldn't find anything that showed the winners of matches. Search liquipedia, TL keeps up with all relevant tourney's brackets in a special section over there.

If you wall off in PvP, can a DT rush always beat a 4 gate?

Do spore crawlers have to be rooted to provide detection?

Hi guys
I am a low level player, and all this time playing as a Terran I have always built a wall with 2 depots and 1 rax at the TOP of my ramp,, like many people do.
I am watching some streaming....and realized this guy is making a wall at the BOTTOM of this ramp.
I feel like this is a really good idea, how come some people make wall at the top, some at the bottom?
Can you list some adv and disadv of walling at bottom and top of ramp?
|
Top of the ramp is more popular because your buildings are protected by the enemy's lack of vision and the fact that they have a choke to squeeze up. Lings or zealots will be able to get a better surround on a walloff at the bottom of a ramp. The benefit of walling at the bottom is that it only takes one 2x2 building and one 3x3 building. It's good for builds that require walling very quickly to ensure no scouting. Other than that I can't think of a benefit.
|
True that. When I need to wall off quickly to let no scout come in, I will wall at bottom
But yes I agree most of the time top is better and looks nicer hehe

Guys, just a quick question, Im watching IGNproleague stream, those two guys are saying how Hellion has been nerfed. What is wrong? What patch notes are they talking about? As far as I know, the latest patch notes had nothing to do with hellion??

Patch 1.4 PTR Notes wrote: Hellion Infernal Pre-Igniter damage upgrade decreased from 10 to 5.

Yeah...I just realized that too.....actually it is kinda annoying, what happens to people who already have fixed strategies? Now they have to adapt to all these changes again..... How can i play peacefully and build my own strategy knowing sooner or later new changes are going to be made...?
and hellion now has to shoot 3 times to kill a worker instead of 2 right?

Yes, but only until +1.
A probe has 40 health, hellions currently do 24 damage vs light (with blue flame) in a single hit, so 2 hits.
Post patch (with blue flame) they do 19 damage, so 3 hits.
Post patch with +1 mech weapons AND blue flame they do 21 damage (+1 normal, +1 light) which means even if your opponent has +1 armor they get 2 shot.
So basically once you start upgrading in the mid game they go back to 2 shotting, but until then they take 3 hits.
|
So it is safe in saying Blizzard did this because they hate hellions?
Lol joking aside, is it safe in saying Blizzard did this so Hellions would not be so overpowered in the early stages of the game? And then when the game goes to mid-late , having decent upgrades they will still 2 shot workers right?
EDIT: But still, how can i plan my strategies if I know in the future theres going to be patch notes and things are gonna get changed again....Does that mean i have to adapt every single time a patch comes out...?

Not sure where to put this since its more of an observation than a question. I'll phrase it as a question though because there might be some con to it other than the initial drop in mineral rate from transferring (I'm a P player so IDK ZvZ)
in high level ZvZ if a player is going all in early aggression why don't pros transfer all their drones to their natural to fake the fact they made a ton of drones? Example: I see Idra put an ovie behind natural to look at drone saturation and it baffles me as to why people don't do this ._.

It could also be that people just haven't thought of it or it isn't worth having drones off minerals for 10 seconds just in case the opponent scouts the front.

at what time as terran should I be dropping the protoss enemy if I'm going 1 rax fe into 5 rax starport?
|
Could somebody name me a good replay saving and analysing tool? I looked up SC2 gears, but the 7,5 version seems to be posted early May. Is it not outdated yet?
Another thing. Could somebody name me a really awesome dubstep list that requires no downloading, just youtube or so?
Kind regards

Drones at the natural run a higher risk of dieing. It's easier to run by on the nat than into the main, because the main can be blocked off. Next to that, the transfer takes you quite a bit of money, which is critical in zvz.

Its really annoying having to adjust your strategies....again and again with each new patch...especially patch 1.4's rax time from 60 to 65, that is going to make a lot of mess...

As soon as the first 2 pop out of the reactored startport is generally a standard timing, but in general any time the protoss is using sentries at their front in order to make up for the fact that they're low on units from teching.

Metagane changes regardsless of patches. See Hellions. Tyey required Z to open roach. No patches included. You adapt to this by havong very solid mechanics, so you can adopt a new style easilly. No other way around it.
