It depends on each player alone, just watch streams, many pros have everything on low and i prefer this, too but other players like to use high settings.

I just watched a few GSL games from ArtosisTV from the player's view, and it seems that they have a lot of things on low, but FFs are clearly visible (so texture's on medium/high?). Many pros use low for everything except textures and effects on ultra. Low settings get rid of all the useless details and textures and effects are for cloaked units / FF visibility. Some LAN tournaments have mandatory graphics settings I think ( was it ultra for GSL ?? ) On August 13 2011 00:45 Psyqo wrote: Simple question: Some people have a blue highlight to their posts here in the Strategy forum. How did they get this? I'm guessing they are Masters+ players, but I really have no idea. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=193846

@Geiko: Is "High" for textures and effects enough to easily see cloaked units? Is there a large difference between High and Ultra?

- Im a nub and what is holding me back most are my keyboard mechanics. I've played around w/ my hotkey settings and made it a bit better but this is still my downfall. I cant tell u how often I have to take my eyes of the screen to look down. Any ideas on how to help this process along or is it just a practice makes perfect deal. - Is Terran imba? I've been watching a bunch of GSL and its like 50% Terran. Same in IPL. Even in my random crappy ladder player pool theres def more Terran than others. Say it aint so, I'm scared of a nerf.

Is there a better technique or is this right and just requires practice? Hit the unload hotkey (d) then left click the dropship, not the ground. It kind of works but only halfway. Is there a better technique or is this right and just requires practice? For dropping, make sure the Medivac is moving (say, behind the mineral lines or into the base). Then, while it's moving, simply press 'D' and then select the dropship instead of a point on the ground. The medivac will continue to move, and drop its units in motion. For multiple, have all of them selected and on move command. Then hit 'D' and click on a dropship. 'D'-click on each individual dropship as fast as you can. - Im a nub and what is holding me back most are my keyboard mechanics. Play games against your friends or computers, and challenge yourself to use only hotkeys for every little thing. - Is Terran imba? I've been watching a bunch of GSL and its like 50% Terran. Same in IPL. Even in my random crappy ladder player pool theres def more Terran than others. Say it aint so, I'm scared of a nerf. I think the common view right now is that Terran has the most options/flexibility/eveness in units. In HotS, they're talking about adding units for all races, but maybe only 1 for terran because they already are so balanced (not imba-balanced, but balanced as in having different options/strategies). Also, I think people are also saying the Terran simply has the best players (at least in Korea), with the likes of MVP, Bomber, MMA, etc etc. Because if you look at Zerg, Nestea certainly isn't having many problems. Protoss at the moment (past ~1 month or so) seems to have a lack of really good players (like, top 5 in the world caliber). Edit: Oh, and as far as a lot of terrans, that's probably just your personal experience. I myself (middle diamond) am facing a slew of Zergs at the moment. ZvZ is getting old (although i am getting better at it!) On August 13 2011 02:41 McPricE wrote: Thanks for the input galtdunn. Main base central, main base ramp, natural, and attack staging area outside enemy base. Is this a good starting point? Eliminating wasteful map scrolling is so tough lol Yeah that seems like a good starting point. I personally almost never use them, a downfall of mine I'm sure. I set my main and natural but beyond that I just forget to use them.

Eliminating wasteful map scrolling is so tough lol Well, like you said it is preference but here is how I do it: I just bind F1 as main. F2 as nat, F3 as thrid...etc. If I need to pan to where the battle is happening I'll just double tap my army hotkey. Pretty much everything else I'll click the minimap. I just find that, as a zerg player, having every base under a camera hotkey helps against terran (and at some point, protoss) drops soooo much. It also might have something to do with the fact that the F keys on the keyboard I use, the razer blackwidow, make no sense at all. F1 is above 3, not 1, so reaching past F4 is difficult for me, so using those hotkeys on anything but bases would seem like a waste. Again, it's preference based.

2) Say it's PvP and I've gone for a 20 probe 4 gate on a 4 player map. I scout him last and see 2 gateways in base chronoing out zealots. What is the proper response for me?

Honestly you should see a 2 Gate earlier with your scout probe, as he won't be able to kill it without a Stalker. Then you can get a second Gate yourself and just win with faster Core tech.

I thought though that if the opponent is 2gate zealot rushing, your warpins dont come till 30-45 secs after the zealots are in your base

Thanks for the responses! I usually scout after my gateway goes down. I'll try scouting with my pylon probe and see if I can get there in time even if I scout him last. If scouted early, I heard in another thread that the proper response is to match his gateway count immediately. Is this true?

You can scout after the gateway, if you see it that early I'll usually just stop mining gas at 100 vespene, and then transfer them to minerals. You want to match his gateway count, yes! But the vespene + core allows you to tech faster if he delayed his core, and win with better units.
