Simple question about infestors
Are there any subtle micro tricks that can be utilized to keep these little guys alive? Specifically when i try to neural parasite, they just seem to flop around in the front lines, trying to squeeze past my roaches, land the NP and swiftly die. What's worse is that they sometimes like to ALL move when i make just one command...
Should i be casing NP by selecting the festors one by one or something?

Uh, just open one of the three standard ways and don't worry about the rest until you're very comfortable playing zerg. Just stick to 14gas14pool, 15hatch 14 pool or 11pool 18 hatch. The point of opening gas first, which afaik only applies to 14g14p is to get metabolic boost the second the spawning pool finishes with 100 gas. 15 OL is fine.
I dont wrote this post to learn the "fine". I want to know the perfect openining. Thanks for the reply anyway

1. Is tvt still about tanks and positioning and air superiority? 2. Whats are the standard builds in all three races for terran? TvP- Mass Ghost Maruader. Nothings changed much. People started using thors, but then BLizz nerfed them because they were to good against P. More people are starting to Mech our of frustration and having some success. But really Maruaders are so good against protoss, why not make them? I don't agree. Many pros have been going more marine heavy against the zealot heavy styles of the Protoss, you need the DPS. Mass marauder is not good against the popular mass Zealot-archon. Ghosts however, are still a staple.
Just my 2 cents.

There is no "perfect opening." It depends on your playstyle, the map, and reacting to what your opponent is doing.
the 3 standard openings mentioned are perfectly fine for all situations unless you scout a 6 pool, even then you're probably fine with a 11 pool.
Although as a note, I usually go 15hatch/15pool, unless it's a ZvZ.

Keep them on a separate hotkey and be very deliberate when moving your separate control groups. And once you've cast NP, you can issue a move command and the infestors who aren't channeling NP will move back.
And make sure they're in the back to begin with also, not in the front.

Thanks for the reply anyway If you want my recommendation, I'm currently doing: ZvT:15H 16P 16G ZvP: 14P 15H 21G ZvZ: 15G 14P 15H
Overlord should always be on 16, I believe, unless you are using some sort of opener that uses time spent supply blocked to do something else. (I.e. 11P 19H builds the overlord on 18, and uses the supply blocked time to begin mining gas.)
If there was a perfect opener, then multiple openers wouldn't exist. The game has been out for a year now, and if something was definitively better than something else in terms of your first 3 structures then it would have been figured out by now. It is mostly a preference based thing.

Question: Is there a way to practice a new build order outside of the ladder or is it better to jump with both feet into a new build order?
Context: I always open Reactor Hellion FE vs Zerg as terran. I want to try a new opening BO but I don't know if I should play vs the comp first or just try it on the ladder immediately.

There are plenty of build order testers out there in the forms of customs maps, such as YABOT (yet another build order tester). Also, a thread that popped up just today about a coach AI that you may want to look into: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=250917

I guess my more specific question is-
Will it actually be helpful to practice new build orders against a computer or is it better to throw yourself against the randomness of the ladder?

the only thing I know of is to either pace set with a single slower unit in back and move those roaches up all the way so that NP has range while behind your roach line, or get a concave before NPing.

It is definitely better to do your build against a computer. SInce computer AI tends to follow specific rules, you know what they'll throw at you after enough games played, so then you can see how your build works and tweak it for what you know is coming. Thats the key to it, knowing how to modify it to meet a need. The computer will be predictable enough that you can do that, and once you have this knowledge down in practice, scouting the opposition can tell you exactly what to do.

Is there a shortcut to activate autocast spells like autorepair (so without rightclicking the icon) ?
|
Is there a map where AI does 1 specyfic build order so i can practice against it?

When going Marine/Tank in TvZ, which upgrades are more important, Vehicle or Infantry?
I figure it partially depends on which unit you have more of, but when it comes to a straight confrontation with Ling/Bling/etc, which helps more?

It's probably better if you find yourself a real practice partner via the stickies practice partner thread, as those people can probably execute the build you're looking for better than the ai.

when does spawning pool finish and when does lings pop out of eggs for 6 7 8 pool?

I'm terran and got a few questions.
What is the best tell that someone is going DT's without specifically scouting the Dark Shrine?
Whats the optimal defense agaist blue flame hellion drops?
Whats the way to punish someone who expands to hidden expos across large maps like Tal'darim?

no ling timing but pool timings are here:
Aggressive Pool First
edit: Zerglings take 24 game seconds to build. So to know when lings pop, just add 24 to the times listed.

In PvT, what scouting triggers Protoss to 3-gate Stargate all-in?
