Yo be it the thread or not, I need a 1700+ protoss practice partner to help me crack this build if they are interested in practicing the build against a 1700+ zerg.

could a roach w/ burrow build be out fast enough against this? No observer seems to be a weakness.

No this isnt very effective as blink will always come out before your burrow.

Also blink > burrow in the sense that when you individually burrow you will take one more volley of fire before burrowing whereas blink is instant and negates a volley of fire. Also, when you un-burrow you take a volley before actually beginning to fire yourself.

I had a verry close game with someone doing this regenerating the roaches after every push back. If you lose a queen you will essentially lose the game unfortunately. Also this does poorly against an aggressive player who will hit you with their first 1 - 5 stalkers.

I am 2-0 with this build on ladder. The first guy tried to defend with spine crawlers/roaches/lings. The second guy tried to defend with pure roach and eventually regenerative roaches.

First game lasted about 5 minutes(after I attacked). Second game was about 10 minutes(again, after the first attack was made). I had to get observers to seal the deal. It's not a build that instantly wins the game in my experience, but the sustained pressure kills the Zerg's economy while you continually bring in reinforcement and keep most of your stalkers alive with blink.

Against the burrowed roaches i just started focusing down roaches quickly and then blinking back, just trying to keep his roach count low until I eventually got observers to the battle. When he burrow microed, I started targetting drones and eventually killed his hatchery because he had to burrow so often.

Very solid aggression build. I like it.
It's all fun and games until somebody gets 4gated.

is it really neccesary to have 4 gates? i just do 3 and keep my chrono as low as possible on those 3 gates while pressuring. have had pretty good success just doing that.

The ONLY 100% way to beat it especially on abusive maps is 1 base roach-ling-baneling with spinecrawler defence with an inbase hatch if necessary. This should progress into Infestor-Baneling after delayed expo.
No way to defend if you go early hatch btw esp if opponent is good at micro.
Why early banes? Not for damage mainly as a scare tactic. It should work especially if u line the edges of the cliffs with them. Try this out. Thank me later.

Just lost using it vs someone who went a mass spinecrawler defense with mass speedlings until he teched up to hydras. Seems this build is really weak if you position your spinecrawlers correctly so they cant be blinked around or harassed.

How would Bane be the answer to blink? only way to defend is like Hakker just said Spine + mass sling + going to hydra like in game 2 on SS if you try to go roach vs this you will die Zerg players depend way 2 much on Roach early on

I heard that this strat is executable only by lefties :D.

On a serious note, IdrA played sloppy, it felt like he didn't put much effort in these series. But nevertheless, great play by Nazgul, especially his terrain usage to blink stalkers.

The matches vs.Gerrard didn't suggest a solution vs. the blink stalker build except preemptive baneling busts ^^. Too bad that the link to the games vs. Check is broken.

I think a really good build that hasn't been prepared for can make the best players look silly.

I've been using this build every game against all 3 races, went from 1000 to 1300 on the ladder. With most builds I have always focused on my macro, but this one is all about micro. It makes the games very enjoyable even if you do lose.

On some maps this is a bit abuse (ie. kulas ravine for example, it was rediculous MLG even allowed desert oasis and kulas). On most maps I think it's quite easy for Z to stop with speedling play.
Nevertheless it's a fine strategy on especially delta quadrant. I only wonder why this build has 4 gates instead of 3, 4 gates purely stalkers produces slightly more then you can imo and with 3 gates you can perform the build a fair bit faster and transition into a expansion more easily imo.

Dont use blink stalker vs MM... it sucks.... real bad.

Stalker lose vs both marine and marauder .. even with blink it doesnt change anything since they can get closer and shoot the one you just blinked.

This build doesn't work well against bad players. Good players like idrA will keep making drones until he sees a push coming. Bad players on the other hand, (mid diamond), will make a shit load of speed lings without scouting or seeing your push. With well placed spine crawlers, roaches, and speed lings, they can delay you from killing them until they get hydras.

2 things:

gas steal should severely slow this build

fighting on creep and spreading creep seems a lot more important

Going hatch first against this build SHOULD work, because how the hell is zerg supposed to know if the toss is going for blink at 14 food ? I've tried it at 1400 diamond and it works if you cut drones and go for roach lings early, however it's very hard to scout the damn council.

If the blink build is executed well outright hydras come too late in too few numbers. An interesting note is that the reason why Blizzard patched fungal vs blink is because they know how strong blink stalkers can be.

Those statements together make no sense. If the build is too fast for hydras it is definately too fast for fungal as the infestation pit takes longer to make, infestors take longer to make, and they need to gather energy before being able to fungal. Either the build isnt as fast as you say or blizzard completely failed at attempting to nerf this build.

No it makes sense because Zerg can defend with speedling, but can't keep up with relentless pressure if executed right. That's where getting infestors comes in since they outright shutdown blink play.
