Is that they can't make workers simultaneously as they make army units as terran and protoss can. We have not larva enough even with 3 hatcheries. In stressful times where the enemy push hard and harass, Z needs to make more drones and army units at the same time. The money go up high and the larvae go down low. I had 1000 minerals and no larvae and no gas because I was making hydras etc and my opponent had like 44 workers as protoss. He kept attacking with proxy pylon and I had to make units. And his income got higher because he made workers at the same time. With my 3 hatcheries i could not support more drones because of low larvae count... I was using queens as usual.
What is this? am I doing something terribly wrong here? This is a weird inbalance imo.
Replay is here if u want. [url blocked]

lol no. though, tbh, balancing them is a problem, but #of larva is not.

So tell me what is wrong with it? Why was I unable to produce workers at the same rate as the protoss?

Thats the macro mechnics of Zerg. Skill in Z revolves around knowing when to drone and when to build army.
That is something the opponent has to exploit, to keep pressure up constantly to foce him to make army instead of drones. Otherwise he would be outmacroed by the Z VEEEEEERRRRYYYY easly.

This has been the biggest challenge in learning Z since BW. Z can pump out the most units at the highest rate since they're not capped by build time, but by larva spawn duration (which is the same whether you're building an ultralisk or a zergling).
You need to learn the proper timings for every matchup when you can sneak drones instead of units. If you're deficit that many, that means you're making too many combat units and not enough drones. More drones now means more combat units later. More combat units now means surviving the next attack, but less drones later.
This is Z. It's how it's always been.

I find that if you're simple suspecting an opponent attack but not sure and you, for whatever reason, dont scout him, you can probably get away with building a few drones and using the rest on your army.
Another thing i find useful to help is say you're producing roaches and you hit 25/26 supply with your ovie half done. Instead of saving that larvae just max yourself by producing a drone.
However i do agree that playing zerg is more demanding in terms of judgement of when to drone/ when to build army.

You can't make them both well at the same time, but you can make 7 drones at a time per hatchery, equating to a strong economy, and then later make say 7 hydras per hatchery in a meer 33 seconds.

I made 3 hatch in main noe and could supporst all i wanted.... hmpf

sorry didn't look at the replay yet but wanted to answer the question
As most TLer have said...it's a skill to know when to macro your army or your drones...what i've notice from playing/ watching reps is that it whatever you choose is dependent on what you scout. If your opps are expanding/turtling/teching, then power drones....if they're going to be aggressive then increase your army size
i know it's not as simple as that but that's the most basic way to know when to drone up or not Part of learning Zerg is knowing how many units is enough to deflect an attack or to go for a push..it's something that comes intuitively to zerg players....once you figure out how many units oyu need to defend with then you can drone up
Also it's not the matter of being imba....actually it's imba in the favor of Zerg actually....do you konw how quickly you can saturate an expansion with a queen there? or rebuild your army?
It takes Terrans for ever to replenish their units that require the tech lab And P units can replenish quickly depending on the number of gateways...then there's the cool down For Zerg, lose your army? just remake it all at once...
|
I watched your replay. You blamed the need to make drones with your larvae, but the biggest problem with your play is that so many of your larvae and minerals went unspent. From the 6 minute mark towards the end of the game you had a large mineral buildup, and you also at numerous times had quite a larvae buildup, and weren't supply blocked. Watch over that replay, but don't watch the battles, watch your own base, your mineral, supply and larvae count. You will be shocked at how many opportunities to make huge amounts of drones went unspent.

Oh aren't you a mind cracker, I did not know that.

For P - just remake all your army at the enemy base Yeahoo! ^^ Nah but seriously, I know most things about zerg, but there is still quiet a lot to learn as it is for sure the hardest race to master.

This isn't the biggest problem with zerg. It's quite possibly the best thing about them. It's a unique racial concept and the only thing keeps zerg fun for me nowadays
It's a great feeling to drone perfectly until the last moment, just barely hold off a push, and then overrun someone a few minutes later with egregious macro and A+move.
|
Lets complain about one of the few things left that make zerg the zerg.
Theyve lost just about everything else after all

OP needs to play a different race.

Or learn zerg? you need to play with you little winky OR a different one. Give some informative answers and stop being a muppet.

Sorry if I act angry^^ but I have lost so many games in a row now, and I always played zerg since beta. was in platinum in beta but now it seems like I suck.
Anyway it's no doubt that they are hard to play, but also the nicest race to play imo. And I know zerg has good macro but is these games I played I was just chocked and still am. Lately is seems like having 2 hatch in 1st base is great :D if u have 40+ drones and build lots of lings and transition to ultra against T.

It seems to me like you're fishing for someone to say what you want to hear. You're not going to.
Learn and understand Z's macro style or change races. It's that simple.

Honestly sir, if you think you know "most things" about zerg, but if you dont clearly understand the concept of powering drones during critical safe periods/knowing exactly when to build other units you really dont know anything.
Did you even play starcraft BW?

It worked in BW and it works now. So calm down and leave your theories behind.
