Aren't we mapmakers a folk of hard working people? I think so. And don't we deserve some amusement between the mapping and criticizing other peoples products? Sure, why not? I know, memes are sort of unpopular in this section of TeamLiquid and rightfully so. But I'm pretty sure that outside of the Maps & Custom Games Forum noone would find something like that remotely funny, respectively understand it. So I present to you:
I'm sure I could do a ton more but I'd like to see what you guys can do with it because I know that you had a lot of moments and thoughts working in the Editor or browsing this forum section that can transition in this meme. So please feel free to download the template and try it on your own.

Hehe, lots of these are quite fun and actually fit.
I really feel like the "Making a 3 player map, quit mapping for a month", "Judge MotM submissions - can't explain why dislike map, Intangibles fuck yeah!" apply to me.
The 3 player maps were really hard, tried with about 4-5 concepts, nothing I did like, which made me a bit disappointed. Will attempt an assymetrical map next time I'm doing 3 spawns. And when I judged MotM #3 I handed out even less points than ProdiG
PS. Sorry for my absense on these forums, I've been busy with IRL stuff, and my new map which iGrok showcased on his lighting tutorial (awesome stuff btw, both his work and my map ).

No, it's an editor bug. I'm looking into it but it definitely shouldn't be happening. The problem is that neither the pathing blocker doodad nor the pathing paint actually seem to fucking do anything...
That being said, this never used to be a problem until a recent patch or something because I know when I released version 1 I specificially tested for shit like this and it worked fine.

OMG this is the most annoying ever. And if you keep doing it, you eventually get to like 85 degrees
I thought that rotation bug happend, because the objects are still "softly" snapping to a grid. i belived it to be 1-255 options in total. What i mean by that is the total 360 degrees can still snap to 255.XX different angles leaving each angle to be actually only 1,411764705882353 instead of 1 degree. I'm not 100% sure, i just ehm assumed that was the case.
I did some testing, and copying a already rotated object or unit, does change its rotation value and to me it seems it always goes down in value, depending on the size of what ever object your copying. I found in various tests that i found the rotation always seems to go clockwise, and spanding from 00.06-00.12 degrees depending on its size. But i also tested for instance, dragging a vertical line of zerglings from top to bottom, and it seems to be under the same effect, where the first zergling is at 100 degrees the next will be offset by 00.06-00.12 Clockwise degrees, and the more you paint in the same brushstroke, the further down the line the further they will rotate, and it also seems that the more you put in the bigger the rotation is expodential. (im not sure how that word is written, english is my secondary language)
The only work around i found is, to keep a continues value through out using the same object but keeping the same rotation angle is.. the following. If you Place a object A, in roughly the angle you want, but dont exactly use this object.. but instead copying object A into object B, now you know that B is rotated.. but once you make another copy of object A by pasting another copy creating object C, then object B and object C has the same offset.
So basicly making the first placement as a dummy, and using only copies of that one to make your actuall placements, but dont copy the second copy, because this will keep the rotationing going.
I dont know if this makes sense to anyone, but i tried to explain atleast

ergh, yah, going back and editing old maps for that sounds like a pain. Can probably get away with not doing it because a lot of maps won't be edited so it will be "ok"

This is probably the thread that best expresses the overall frustration of sc2 mapmakers
flopturnreaver while making millions at poker, sadly did not get a map in the pool.. neither did I.. neither did any of us really.. just enough did to make it seem "possible" to get that treat/dream.. just to keep the sham going.
Lets be clear.. there is no resentment from my part (as i have stated more times than i care to remember: i am compelled to make maps, what ensues is gravy),
..there is just a sadness that blizzard's community manager is not someone who understands anything about community/social/pr/marketing/customer service etc.. .. the multiplayer section of their game is a relic.. finnaly zombies in starcraft .. they thought the ladder deserved their efforts (as in ALL their efforts / all eggs in one basket) ..
.. furthermore an incomprehension feeling with the people who refuse to fix this (people who care only about money who actually make decisions (like who decides what is best for the product and is it time to change because no money was gained), .. you would think they would at least "try" stuff to try to get extra money".

It is truly kind of ridiculous that Blizzard uses any Blizz maps at this point. They could've done a map contest every season since WoL, and they would've doubled their potential game audience. Mapmaking itself is a game that people like to play--even people who wouldn't necessarily play that much SC.

doubled their audience? I don't remember any non blizzard tournament ready maps in WoL until the GOM/GSL started to debut the bigger maps, and those eventually did get put into ladder.
There's always been plenty of good non-blizz maps it's just most people don't know about them.
Although I will say that early to mid WoL the difference in quality between a blizz map and a community map wasn't nearly as big as the enormous difference we have now. These days it is truly just silly for Blizz to use any of their maps if they really want a good map pool. But it's their game at the end of the day so.. there you go.
