"fragile sport", "supposed to be" and "because your on this website" as you put it being fan of esports is some annoying chore... and i'm here mainly for the korean broodwar leagues, so in all honesty i probably wouldn't watch it for free, but i still find it an outrage that the poor company that is blizzard is making people pay to watch sc2....

when blizzard made an obvious step to create a sc2 proscene, i assumed the business model would be provide some entertainment to a wide audience and make esports attractive so people would buy the game and participate or be progamer "wannabes".... i thought that the esports would be more like a interactive advert to popularize their product and maybe leech some sponsor money. i, however, never thought that they would try to milk the spectators... that is just greedy and short-sighted...

EDIT: also a small reminder: your != you are, not being picky but as a non native english speaker it irritates me because i find it very hard to read and have to re-read it couple of times before i get it.

Having to pay another $hitload to have quality internet - least in my country- all other expenses like gym , going out , rapidshare etc or having a high maintenance girlfriend - for some - having to pay to watch some e sport tourneys as well is ridiculus


Maybe in ideally build society whereas wealth flurish and every1 was happy with their ferraris leaving in a hawain Suburb , in that case yea i would pay but not now

Edit: Also those saying we who want our free streams are "hurting" the SC2 community are stupid (Nicely put) as tournies should get there money from sponsor companies and live arena spectators much like the NFL/NHL/And other Pro Sports Leagues.

that's a good point. what's the main audience for esports? kids, students and young people in general. not the demographics with a bunch of cash burning in their pockets.

Idk, the amount of coverage and games up for sc2 is just so much right now that i wont pay to watch a halfass HD stream (which isnt really HD at all)

As i said in the other thread aswell, I'm a student on a tight budget.. There is no way this is possible for me to afford this. I like the ESL way of doing things.

Want a good stream? pay for it. Want a crap stream? get it for free.

After the MLG stream numbers I'm very disappointed with the price. I was thinking there'd be a waiting list for sponsors after that, but apparently somebody is money hungry or the support just isn't there.

Maybe one day we'll have channel 9054. Live starcraft all day.

I voted yes, but I was under the impression it was going to be something cheap like MLG but with higher quality. Turns out, it's ridiculously priced and quality isn't even that high... wish I could change my answer

Never. If they want to establish E-sport as a "real" sport you shouldnt have to pay insane amounts of money to watch it. Also, im poor.

xD, So they are holding this huge tourney, got big names from all over the world, the fucking biggest prizepool ever, the best commentators in the friggin world...

I see how they came to think, hey maybe someone is going to pay us money for that.

I hope they fail miserably, but if not, this could end up like soccer in europe. People who care pay to watch and follow all theire favorite teams, players - rest of us has a look at the Worldchampionship and is happy if they recognise the name of some topplayers after 4 years again.

Thats so strange - a lot of people won't get huge fanbases. Maybe torch is a fucking great player, may we will never find out. And I am sad I am going to miss Tasteless and Artosis . And without the covering for the masses, theire won't be sponsors for teams - players in the future - as noone will know theire names - thus making players depend on Gretech.
