hey its not that big of a deal. its like 20 dollars for a live stream. im just happy that this event is happening. you guys are really so cheap you wouldnt pay 20 dollars for the biggest sc2 event ever??!!?

big? if no one will watch it how can it possibly be big?

but seriously organizers have to be naive to think that something like this could work on the internet, re-streaming and leaked vods are inevitable.

so you would watch a pirated stream and hurt a fragile sport that your supposed to be a fan of (because your on this website). nice going. how do you expect them to offer so much money as a prize? by not paying for this your hurting the starcraft 2 community.

"fragile sport", "supposed to be" and "because your on this website" as you put it being fan of esports is some annoying chore... and i'm here mainly for the korean broodwar leagues, so in all honesty i probably wouldn't watch it for free, but i still find it an outrage that the poor company that is blizzard is making people pay to watch sc2....

when blizzard made an obvious step to create a sc2 proscene, i assumed the business model would be provide some entertainment to a wide audience and make esports attractive so people would buy the game and participate or be progamer "wannabes".... i thought that the esports would be more like a interactive advert to popularize their product and maybe leech some sponsor money. i, however, never thought that they would try to milk the spectators... that is just greedy and short-sighted...

EDIT: also a small reminder: your != you are, not being picky but as a non native english speaker it irritates me because i find it very hard to read and have to re-read it couple of times before i get it.

Nope. Gonna watch on afreeca.

consider the times , which most peeps working 10+hours and getting shitty money

how much u have to pay for basic needs

Having to pay another $hitload to have quality internet - least in my country- all other expenses like gym , going out , rapidshare etc or having a high maintenance girlfriend - for some - having to pay to watch some e sport tourneys as well is ridiculus

Maybe in ideally build society whereas wealth flurish and every1 was happy with their ferraris leaving in a hawain Suburb , in that case yea i would pay but not now

Blizzard needs to tell Activision to fuck off already....
Why pay for something that should be free?
Edit: Also those saying we who want our free streams are "hurting" the SC2 community are stupid (Nicely put) as tournies should get there money from sponsor companies and live arena spectators much like the NFL/NHL/And other Pro Sports Leagues.

Nope. Too poor to spend money to watch other people play SC2.
Weird, last time I checked the UN said you need to have at least 200 APM and be rainbow league to be called human. —Liquid`TLO

that's a good point. what's the main audience for esports? kids, students and young people in general. not the demographics with a bunch of cash burning in their pockets.

As i said in the other thread aswell, I'm a student on a tight budget.. There is no way this is possible for me to afford this. I like the ESL way of doing things.

Want a good stream? pay for it. Want a crap stream? get it for free.

After the MLG stream numbers I'm very disappointed with the price. I was thinking there'd be a waiting list for sponsors after that, but apparently somebody is money hungry or the support just isn't there.

Maybe one day we'll have channel 9054. Live starcraft all day.

Not paying to watch.

It's a recession, I don't have that much money to dole out. What does ACTIVISION-Bizzard think I am? An automated cash dispenser?

I voted yes, but I was under the impression it was going to be something cheap like MLG but with higher quality. Turns out, it's ridiculously priced and quality isn't even that high... wish I could change my answer

Never. If they want to establish E-sport as a "real" sport you shouldnt have to pay insane amounts of money to watch it. Also, im poor.

If the payment was a yearly subscription I wouldn't be opposed to it, but for each event? Really?

xD, So they are holding this huge tourney, got big names from all over the world, the fucking biggest prizepool ever, the best commentators in the friggin world...

I see how they came to think, hey maybe someone is going to pay us money for that.

I hope they fail miserably, but if not, this could end up like soccer in europe. People who care pay to watch and follow all theire favorite teams, players - rest of us has a look at the Worldchampionship and is happy if they recognise the name of some topplayers after 4 years again.

Thats so strange - a lot of people won't get huge fanbases. Maybe torch is a fucking great player, may we will never find out. And I am sad I am going to miss Tasteless and Artosis . And without the covering for the masses, theire won't be sponsors for teams - players in the future - as noone will know theire names - thus making players depend on Gretech.

bad discision - No, NO and nO.
