Congratulations, Round 5 winner pripple!
Pripple barely edged out a victory over heygk by two points, mainly due to his smart trading. Pripple made 14 trades for +28 points while heygk only made 4 for +11. This round was the most competitive we've had, with over 1500 entries, so it's a big accomplishment to even finish in the Top 100 this time.
Final Top 10: (Click to see full standings)
Owner Awards
The "Boxer" Award for best Repeat Performance Goes to pachi (#26 R4, #9 R5) and BroOd (#7 R4, #35 R5). Finishing in the Top 50 in two consecutive seasons, especially when we have 900+ entries in R4 and 1500+ in R5 is more than just luck.
The "Savior" Award for Best Slump Predictor Goes to the winner pripple, whose original anti-team of GoRush, Casy, and Shine[kal] was just the beginning. He made five anti-team trades, which only netted him +1 points, but that's half his winning margin over #2 heygk. When you have the best anti-team, you're guaranteed to finish really high.
The "Wall Street" Award for Best Trader Goes to T.O.P., who made seventeen total trades during the season and saw 13 of them give positive returns for a total of +64 trade gain. T.O.P. finished at #79. If he had not traded, he would have finished in the #800s. His best trade was CJ-for-Hite in Week 2 (+25), which is especially impressive because CJ was on fire at the time.
The "KTF" Award for Worst Trader Goes to Ideas. How could someone who finished #31 be the worst trader? Well, Galandril had a worse result (-48), but Ideas' trades (-23) cost him far more. Had he not traded, he would have finished first. That's right, he would've won the entire league by 2 points had he just closed his eyes and ignored his team after selecting it in Week 1. The worst trade he made was BackHo-for-Much in Week 4, costing him 14 points.
The "Nal_Rock" Award for Refusing to Change Anything Goes to blueblimp, who finished at #24 despite making 0 trades all season. Had Ideas only taken your approach!
The "Hite Sparkyz" Award for Biggest Surprise Team Goes to STX and KTF for going 10-1 and 8-3 and tripling their price value. Picking either of these two teams and sticking with them almost guaranteed you a strong finishing position. Unfortunately, 31 owners gave up on KTF halfway through, trading them for Samsung in Week 2 and taking a minus-16 hit.
The "LeBron" Award for Best Rookie Obviously, this goes to pripple. Thus far, he's averaging a rank of #1 in all FPL leagues he's played in. Can he duplicate the performance next season, or in the Fantasy PL Playoffs?
The "Manifesto7" Award for Best Staff Performance Goes to pachi again, who finished #9. Honorable mention to original FPL creator semioldguy, who finished #46.
The "Last Romantic" Award for Worst Staff Performance Goes to Kennegit, who finished #1117, making zero trades and taking an incredible minus-52 from his Really, Sea, and Hyun anti-team. Sea drank with you and came on TL Attack, and this is how you repay him? You put him on your anti-team? What a betrayal!
Player Awards
Highest Scoring: Flash (47 points) Most Wins: Flash (11-3) Most Losses: hyvaa (2-8) Best +/- Win Ratio:: Flash (11-3, +8) Best ACE Winner: Leta (4-1)
Most Underrated (price increase):
GuemChi (+5), by.hero (+5), Flash (+4)
Most Overrated (price decrease):
hyvaa (-4), HoGiL (-4), OversKy (-4)
Thanks to everyone for participating, and I hope you guys had fun!
Make sure to sign up for Fantasy PL Playoffs, which starts in just a few days!

Ideas, you can join me in becoming worst traders!
To the hosts: If the Proleague format stays the same for the 09-10 season, will you consider a cumulative Fantasy Proleague spanning all five rounds. This is so that slumps and gains could be traded more.

thanks for all the awards, and thanks again for the whole fantasy -feature, actually thanks to all of teamliquid which is how i got into starcraft not too long ago, used to watch only Gom before that (yes shame on me)!
let's see if i can do any good at the fantasy playoffs, which is a genious idea by the way! it seems lot harder for me, as i've been utterly failing in liquibet's current season and this somehow reminds me of it. always when i make THE sure pick, biggest upset of the year occurs ;p

Congrats to you pripple.
I did terribly as expected. Although I'm glad I chose STX for my team. You did me proud guys (and girl)!
|
well done pripple! lol at Ideas kennigit sucks
thanks TL for FPL!
I got 57th this season, aiming for top ten next time!

Nice write-up, and good to see I made a couple of the better choices there from the most underrated department, chose a good team, made some OK trades but then had a very similar anti-team to Kennigit
Fuck yeah pachi! Nice work.

I tied for second-to-last for people who didn't trade. I feel like that is an accomplishment.

FML. It sounded great on paper, and then Khan decides to lose to two of the worst teams 0-3 and like 1-3 or something. T_T

Top 10 finish and showing up in a news post, I can now die a happy man. Congrats pripple!

I made horrible trades last time, and it set me back SOOOO far. So I resolved this time to stick with my original team, no matter what.
My anti-team really kicked my ass. But I always felt if I traded, it would have gotten worse. :/
My boy Light on MBC did really well though :D That was a lot of fun to watch.
edit: Oh FYI I did even worse NOT trading anyone... amazing with how bad I had crashed before.

ignorance...why there are 2 match? es cj vs hite and hite vs cj?

LOL Kennigit, well done sir
Congratulations to H_B, Abydos, and all the staff who worked on Fantasy PL for yet another awesome season! I really enjoyed playing.
|
I did MUCH better than last season finishing in 142nd place so I am extremely happy with my performance. I need to get better at trading however as my trade gain was only +5. But thank you to all the TL Staff that put this together and everything else on the site (tournament streams, TLPD, Liquibet, Liquipedia, etc.) your efforts do not go unnoticed.
|
Finished #48, not too bad
7th out of forum vets.

Pripple is such a cute name. Go pachi!

Thank god this season is over... I can get to sucking next season now.
Seriously though, I'm noticing more than anything the people that make the smartest and most aggressive trades do the best. And of course, the people who most wisely pick their anti-team also do well. I understand the reasons for this, but since I'm not that rabid a Korean SC follow I find it hard to track who I want to trade for, who might slump, etc.
But then again, those complaints are why I never really got into fantasy sports in other cases. But, since I actually play SC I'll continue to do horrid at fantasy every season.
Also... I really have to hand it to whoever coded TL's fantasy - it's amazing, simple, and it works!

Bah, I was hoping to get the Wall Street award
Anyway, GG! When is 2009/10 PL starting? I don't want to miss anything due to my vacation.

grats to pripple, and great work again by abydos, hotbid and everyone involved in putting this together.

thanks all, this FPL thing is so great!
Also, all this funny post-season banter makes it all the more worthwhile to try hard to win. If you can think of more (silly) honorable mentions you should do them - they are fun!

i went all-out with KHAN, figuring they couldn't possibly suck as much this round as they did the last, and made 0 trades
finished #1257
fuck you jangbi

Rank: #666 says it all :D Totally what I was aiming for, btw I feel really stupid, I thought team and anti-team were seperate, so that getting a antiteam with alot of "-" was good. Oh well, fun season anyways
|
Congrats pripple man. Amazing. I finished 26 this round. I am proud of it - especially after my horrific standing last time round.
Goooooo~ pripple

Oh well, fun season anyways haha, yea, I somehow didnt know how to manage antiteam, or the meaning of it. So I got loads of good players there. And couldnt trade with any lower ones. Fail :< Thanks for a nice season. I will sure improve to the next one!

If I hadn't traded I would've tied for 32nd. T.T Things that really killed me were trading Hiya for Light on my Antiteam and STX for Hwaseung. Oh my God why did I trade STX x.x
|
I dont know how to make good anti teams... LOL 8( Congrats to the winner =D
|
Congrats to Phustus, you were successful!
|
Why did I pick luxury!? He was worst player on my team - only 23 points And yay for picking Cloud for anti-team. 1 point for whole season. Even worse than Rock and everyone else on WeMade (seriously 5 of their players finished in bottom 9 of all players lol). I picked the two biggest slumpers and the worst person in FPL for my anti-team. (note this isn't a particularly good antiteam cos even slumpers gets lots of points)
I decided not to trade at beginning of season as I wouldn't have time to keep track of players' performance. Was in 4th place but got absolutely killed in the final 2 weeks because all of my players (except Flash) weren't fielded . Finished at #40.
W1 W2 W3 W4 W5 W6 W7 38 36 37 43 45 13 6
So if you don't plan on trading make sure to put all ace players in your team otherwise they won't get to play at end of season.

The secret to making a good anti team = pick airforce ace players
