Brand New MSL Map
Starting with MSL Survivor Tournament Group A [LuCifer, Dongrae, Iris, maGma] a new map named Byzantium will be used. Byzantium is a hill-based 4 player map with a lot of ramps. In order to secure a third gas, a player must go down the hill that contains natural expansion and a mineral only. Similar to those of Reverse Temple, ramps face upwards from the main bases. Although those ramps make early game strategies easier to execute, the map is predicted to be a standard macro map. Byzantium was created by Gi Bum Song, who has also created other popular maps such as Luna and Rush Hour.
Plasssssma - New OSL Map
The first new OSL map is called Plasma And yeah, it does look very odd. It's a 3 player "timed island" map that screams creative and cheesy plays. Routes that connect the main bases are blocked by lurker eggs, which makes the map island until the eggs are destroyed. There are two close expansions very close to the main - a normal gas expo and a mineral only. Depending on how a player decides to use those eggs, games can vary heavily.
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
This one is more standard looking. Return of the King is a 4 player macro-based map that closely resembles Namja Iyagi. Heavy macro battles are predicted as players fight to hold control of the center hill. How one chooses to use the island expansion behind the main base will drastically affect the gameplay.

Oh, no 4th map for OSL yet?

These maps look gosu as hell and I'm looking forward to seeing games on them :D Although Return of the King looks a bit like a remake of Namja Iyagi.

Yeah, I think they just wanted to reuse Namja Iyagi after balancing it out a little more or something :O
And there is no fourth OSL map, afaik.

Hmmm, I bet on plasma you could use an overlord for sight, and just float a drone over all those eggs and build a proxy hatchery to surprise your opponent with lings really early :O If you scouted him with your overlord first, anyway.

you dont need OL for sight b/c there are small min patches (32 iirc) on either side of the egg lines

haha for a long time Koreans kept talking to me about the "King of road" movie and it took me forever to realize that they meant King of Lord (lord of the rings).
