Episode 4 - XiaoZi - March 23, 2008 @ 5 PM EST / 2 PM PST / 2200 GMT / 2300 CET
With all the activity recently, Team Liquid Attack is going to have to take a short, one-week break to regroup and reorganize.
Episode 4 – XiaoZi! We had to break free of our "Media Attack" stigma, so we turned to ToT) for a Zerg player, and they hooked us up with one of the best. Timothy has been absolutely dominant for years now, showing consistent results across the board.
XiaoZi will be mic'ed up and ready to let both the Engligh and Chinese trash talk fly (Which may or may not be loosely "translated" by our own Hot_Bid).
So please join in on the 23rd and try to get a game with one of the most dominant foreign Zergs ever!
Recap of Episode 3
Replays As always, we ran into technical difficulties. I must thank everyone for remaining patient while we sorted out a new set of issues regarding new features.
Thanks again to Yubee for the great OSLesque pre-game video. It will now be an updated staple in upcoming TL Attack episodes.
Nony stayed for an incredible four hours, playing thirteen games and only dropping a single one to a three-player team melee team. Truly an impressive performance, and living up to his prediction of Decaf:
I think he's just going to lose. There's only so many ways you can lose. And he's going to make some kind of units. And I'm going to attack him, and then all his stuff is going to die. That's about the best prediction I can give." --Nony
Thanks again to Nony, for playing the community while giving tons of invaluable information regarding his thoughts on scouting, style, matchups and maps.
For interest's sake, we had an average of around 500 viewers with a peak around 550, which is just crazy. There were people advertising on the stream for God's sake. When the stream ended early at the end, that was because R1CH's stream was actually taken down because we were hogging too much bandwidth!
Results! + Show Spoiler +
Episode 3 Intro by yubee + Show Spoiler +
Prizes The winner was none other than 2FacShakur (RaGe @ TL) who wins for his dominant Zergling control, but moreso his complete dissociation with the losing Terran team melee team!
For his efforts, RaGe will receive a MASTER mousepad courtesty of http://www.esportnova.com
If you missed any of the action, you can download the VOD on the tracker: Torrent
How To Watch A news post will be made prior to the stream going live which will include details on how to watch live in VLC or WMM. VODs and Replays will be released after the event is complete. If you know the URL, we would ask that you do not connect to the stream until we give the OK that it is up. Doing so causes technical nightmares for R1CH, and causes delays in the beginning of the episode.
We feel that last week was a real success, and the staff, NonY and the viewers seemed to all have a great time.
How To Play
Once you tune in live, we will be announcing what channel we will be in. We will be on US West so all you have to do is have the stream running in the background and hop onto West.

I'm excited! I hope to hear some Chinese talk too I've seen XiaOzi quite a lot in gns.I channel

Didn't someone say it was a player that we would never be able to play? No offense to XiaoZi, but that is hardly true.

I think from now on we'll just refrain from even hinting at who it'll be until we fully confirm it, because we will always have people saying "but you said..."
So just ignore what we said earlier about it.

Fair enough, just curious.

TL A is such a great event. Imagine how much MORE popular our game would have been if just one of the many battle.net patches equipped SC for this sort of stuff (cough BWVT!). I don't think many people really actually know the effort that you guys put in making this happen. My hat off to all you! I am enjoying them all.

Damn i can't wait, Xiaozi is definitely one of my favorite zergs out there.
|
XiaoZi is really sweet.
But get Rekrul for episode 5. Imagine it...
Edit: Ambiguity. I must avoid ambiguity at all costs or I will lose points.

haha i was cracking up as nony was saying it, then i think i made some verbal trash talk till i realized i wasnt in vent.

I know nothing about this guy. T_T
How do you pronounce his name? Is his first language Chinese, or English?
I can't wait; hopefully this time I'll remember to turn it on at 5 (I'm always at least an hour late watching the stream).

I'm guessing "Shee-AO (ow) - tzi (zzzzuh)" (sorry, i can't be any more clear than that)
That's what the pinyin suggests at least.

Just pronounce his name like the DBZ character Chaozu. I know it's wrong, but it's funny as hell.

Xiaozi has been playing this game since I can remember and he's always been a top foreigner. He's got much better since I've seen him about two years ago.

im not familiar with xiaozi, but if hes tot, then he has to be good I know XiaOzI for two things: Satanik's opponent in the absolutely gosu amazing ZvZ on Rush Hour (which got a Pimpest Play last year (or the year before that? Whatever you want to call it).
And for calling MIStrZZZ a hacker in an FPVod he made (http://youtube.com/watch?v=G7qZZDZ6Yo0)
|
when is the whole vod coming out for TL attack 3? TLA2 was funny with Idra vs Huvz but their is nothing better than watching NonY own WITH his commentary. love his prediction of the matches XD
|
|
Will the VOD be available to download in an alternative way to the tracker? I have a god awful internet connection and it takes weeks for me to download a torrent. No worries if not, I'll just have to catch it live next time. Good job guys.

Unfortunately when we had a direct download it raped R1CH's bandwidth. Maybe someone nice will upload it to megaupload for the community
|
thnx man i missed it, i just got done watching the first 2 hours I'm in intermission right now... I had a strategy for NonY but I never had time to post it, if you think its worth telling him the do so. Its more of a request, but I wanted to see NonY use hallucination, in a PvT you can illusion to distract the tanks, even use the illusions to draw the enemy's army/attention away from what he is ultimately planning. In several cases I have hallucinated shuttles and the enemy targeted them assuming there was Reavers in them. With so many gateways with hallucination I wonder why nobody uses it. (btw: if you get temp energy upgrade you can cast storm 2 times and hallucination 1ce.)
|
That was awesome. One thing though, could whoever sounds like they are talking into a tin can turn down your mic sensitivity a bit? There was distortion sometimes, which kind of hurt the ears.
|
Any idea how good XiaOzI's english is, or will it all be translated by Hot_Bid ?

The issue is, is that because its his second language its way harder to think in it when you are trying to play efficiently at the same time. He has spoken in chinese before while playing but not english so we gave him the option to do whatever while he's playnig. If he says something in chinese hotbid will translate.

I hope i get the chance to vs XiaOzi... what does XiaOzi stand for? didn't he play against Nony and Idra in ascension?
|
yes! tl attack is on easter.
meaning i'll get to play that day! :D
.. i'll probably be too busy practicing and getting back into shape though.
|
I hope this will be on the tracker when I get back Sunday night Itll be the first episode that I didnt catch live. :X

This teamliquid attack show is great. It's got a really good stream, presentation, and commentators so it was great fun watching it.
