This is pretty insane, let me start from the bottom of the league.
MSL Preliminary Round - There will 3 brackets, each bracket with 8 groups, and each group with 8 (or 9) players. - The winner from each group will advance to the MBC Survivor League. This means 24 players will advance, and the 8 players who were seeded in last season's Survivor league will combine with the 24 players, and will all play a 32 man Survivor League.
Survivor League - The Survivor league will be divided into 8 groups of 4 and play Dual-Tournament style. Thus, 16 players will advance to the next MSL.
MBCGame Starleague - But wait, doesn't the next MSL already have 16 players ready? Well yes, that's why the already qualified 16 players and the newly qualified 16 players will combine into one massive MSL. - MSL will start off as Round of 32, with 8 groups of 4, playing the dual-tournament style again. - From round of 16, it will be Single-Elimination, much like OSL.
Note: OSL is said to be shrunk back to 16 players... but this has yet to be confirmed completely. But I'm pretty sure it is.
WHOA. reverse of size! now MSL is big tournament and OSL is little one again. But I still think OSL will do a better job of packaging, as they have in the past.
I mean, sAviOr and Bisu had lame entries into MSL.
Alright so I have one question:
will there be 8 seeds per MSL? and then the other 24 spots will be filled through another format of survivor? How will the NEXT MSL work after this upcoming one?

Hmm, well MSL basically guarentees more games from the marquee names (hopefully) by diluting the field to 32.
I was acutally pondering the possibilities of OSL going to this, but MSL took action. I'm going to miss the days of the unfollowable Survivor League though.
wow, now that the OSL has finally normalized (IMO, the 24-player format removed a lot of the significance of the 3rd/4th place match), the MSL got weird again.
Oh well. I guess we'll see how this new system will turn out. At least there are no overly forgiving wildcard rounds like the OSL had; we can get right into high-stakes series between 16 (hopefully awesome) players.

Who knows, maybe this will turn out better.
In any case, I'm glad one is big and one is small. Everyone is satisfied.
The middleman is however completely unsatisfied ^_^
Anyhoo, I'm actually surprised as hell at 32 people ... maybe this time the OSL will have more than 1 Protoss player T_T
Wootwoot, 32 gosu's instead of 16! Then again most of the players will be pushovers for others.. so.. Ok, question, does this mean a much longer season > only 1 msl?
It's gonna be massive o.O. I prefer OSL to be the bigger and MSL the smaller, OGN handles big leagues better. :-/ Does this have anything to do with the broadcasting controversy?
Expanding to 32 IS pretty crazy, but atleast they got rid of their really weird format (group stages = dual league style, quarters = dual league style)
There's gonna be more to follow, but it'll be easier to follow. Maybe the old system was more fair, but unless you're really into it, it was harder to follow

I totally agree. That lame duck process made OSL SOOOOOO complicating.

And then went straight to the finals?
Anyway, nice thing IMHO, but we'll see how it fares and what the schedules will be like in the future...

Well, it happened twice that a player who should have been eliminated with the old system got to the final, Nada and Casy. Which is good for them, but eventually the groups lost their meaning because of this. Group stage is supposed to eliminate people, not to let them train.
I hope this 32 men league remain simple, it might be hard to follow. But it's a nice thing, we'll get to see lots of faces, different styles, that should be good.
I have pretty mixed feelings about that. Following progaming will take even more time now. It will also increase VOD up-/downloading traffic. Same with coverage. Not that this was of any concern for me, but it has to be considered.
True but at least familiar names will be more familiar. If the tourney is a top 32 instead of top 16, we can still see faces like Reach and Kingdom more easily and maybe even Zeus.
Yellow can also lose around 32 too, etc. In short, having more players also means more familiarity in a way... and in a way a lot more no namers too...

YellOw can also WIN THE WHOLE FUCKING THING
actually no he needs to win the OSL now. He won... gametv something something free challenger starleague yes?
I've MSL gets bigger and OSL shrinks then there be about the same number of games, no ? I didn't bother to count cuz the OSL prelims are so fucking hard to undrestand. :D
