I almost cried at this point.

The amount of dedication, passion, and love TLAFLiquid`Jinro gave the game is awe-inspiring. He is one of the greatest role models this community could ask for not only in StarCraft, but also in life. He is proof that chasing wildly the smallest hopes in order to achieve the greatest of dreams is not, by necessity, folly. He is evidence that if you want something in life, you can make it happen, consequences be damned.

Jinro helped me fall in love with StarCraft II. Before his beautiful runs through the GSL, SC was just a hobby, and nothing more. Then on November 25, 2010, I woke up at 4 in the morning to watch a foreigner Terran play in the GSL against NEXDrug, a really scary Zerg, whom Jinro defeated in a nail-biting 3-game series. After that, I watched as Jinro climbed, round-by-round, closer and closer to the finals, easily out-shining every other foreigner out there. To this day, no foreign player has gotten as far in the GSL as has Jonathan 'TLAFLiquid`Jinro' Walsch, and for that, he should always be remembered as one of the greatest foreigners ever to grace the seen.

Thank you for everything, Jinro. Liquid will never be the same.

While it's sad to see Jinro go and I wish him luck, I honestly was wondering when we would start hearing about big names retiring. Because let's face it, this scene is oversaturated and it's going to happen sooner or later. There just are so many pros and teams with little to no notable results. So while it's sad to see individual pros depart, in the end it's probably for the better of the scene that we lose some of the pros, teams and tournaments.

That was such a sad post to read. It clearly shows that this decision was not very easy. It's too bad that your dream had faded away, it would have been really great to see a well motivated Jinro again.

Best of luck in the future! Sad you're retiring, but I'm happy you're moving on to greener pastures. I would hate for you to continue playing only for fan-service and not for the sake of passion.

Well Jinro, at least people won't be calling you a gorilla anymore XD. I don't know but I always thought that was a bit offensive. Hopefully you earn a better nickname for poker

. At least you left a legacy, more than can be said for most progamers. Its a tough arena. But damn, I seriously wonder whether poker is going to be harder and even more challenging, it could end up being quite depressing. But I'm sure it'll be a fun rollercoaster in the end as it seems to be so far
