Gratz to alive, super dissapointed squirtle didnt win, he was a favourite of mine for so long, and until recently he had all but dissapeared aside from GSTL, now things are on the up and up for him with code s and a second place finish. My favourite game ever was still squirtle vs MVP back when everyone thought MVP was invincible (the first time).
Big win for squirtle still, man, i heard some boo's when alive was presented as the winner, and not too many cheers, can you imagine how booming that crowd would have been if squirtle won? It sucks to be the heel but squirtle was the clear favourite and everyone wanted to see him do it after coming back from 0-2 in the first set.
Gratz to alive and squirtle, i think its funny how Alive complained about not getting streamed or featured enough at the last IPL (and in foreigner events in general) youd think he would have a bit more of a personality to show off if he really wanted the spotlight that much.

aLive has always been understaffed in the fan department cause of his style of play and lack of showmanship. Gotta build the fanbase on pure wins.

Yeah... Unlike NesTea he does not have tasteosis hyping him up either :<

A potato has more personality than aLive tbh. I hope he opens up and shows us....something...anything! SAd to see squirtle go like that!
|
Man i thought Squirtle would win. Squirte Fighthing !
|
typo in first time? "After ONE he went through, it would be understandable if he collapsed."
|
I love how the 16 first players are koreans except for Stephano <3
|
Congrats to Alive!
A cool 40k for a weekend's work and it dulls the pain of exiting GSL Code S.
|
Congrats to alive! But to be true, I dont really like him or his style. In my eyes he is "just another super good korean Terran".
|
Well congratulations to Alive. Job well done. Fnatic must be happy!
|
I don't think that squirtle had any energy left, it's bit of a shame. Oh well, gj alive ;o.
|
Congratulations to aLive for his great performance and perseverance!

simply awesome the hole stuff. I just lagged a lot on the last games on the last day but despite that it was pure ownage the hole ipl

Oh I really hoped this was Nestea's revival, that ling baneling play on the second map vs alive was so good ... oh well, maybe he'll lift the GSL this time! Gratz to alive and squirtle though for making it through the open bracket, they mustve beat really tired!
|
Squirtle fighting! Amazing performance from both players, and props to Nestea.

Well, since the last GSL, Artosis has been pretty clear that aLive is one of the...if not the best TvTer in the world. He holds him in high regard, they even predicted he would win the GSL, MLG and everything else he was involved in...
|
Very deserved and long awaited major win. I hope he goes to future MLG's and proves himself even further. He needs more recognition and respect than he currently gets.

It's embarrassing that people would boo alive after he won. I was rooting for squirtle just like most people were, but when someone wins a tournament they deserve your cheers whether you were rooting for them or not and if you don't want to cheer for the guy that's fine (even though i think you should anyway) but by all means don't boo him for winning that's just embarrassing and classless. (not accusing you of booing just addressing what you said)
and congratulations to alive for the win

I felt super bad for alive since he didn't get a lot of cheers. It's really sad when people practice really hard. Win a lot and almost get no attention for it.

Sick tournament, very intense at the end there. aLive and Squirtle both really earned some much-deserved respect for their awesome performances.
Polt, NesTea, Stephano, and MarineKing also didn't disappoint (much). You can't win 'em all, but these players put on strong performances that showed they're certainly a threat to take any tournament they enter.
As for everyone who got eliminated before the championship bracket... I guess it's back to the drawing board.
Speaking of which, I think I'm more a fan of MLG's Championship format. Although IPL4's structure was conveniently simple and reasonably well-seeded (with enough spots for open-bracket players in pools), I think MLG's massive championship bracket, with people fighting their way up from the open bracket losers through what's sometimes a gauntlet and sometimes a baton-pass run, makes for more exciting stories and challenges. Except for extended series. If you look at it closely, IPL4 shows us what a big, similar weekend tournament looks like without Extended Series, and it's a good thing. (Seriously, consider how the tournament would've been different if IPL had instituted an Extended Series rule.)
