The TeamLiquid International Tournament Roundup is the one-stop shop for all of your tournament result needs, and it's coming to you each and every month.
Don't be fooled, the GSL is great, but there's a massive amount of talent outside of Korea. These international juggernauts are battling it out in epic games, and in epic tournaments, on a daily basis. After all, these monsters have more than proven that they can compete.
Who's the current top dog outside of Korea?
Please note that if an event is not listed, it is likely because it either didn't make the prizemoney cutoff, or results were simply not properly recorded in public view by tournament administration. Don't blame me, blame the event admins. I can't do their job for them. Thanks!
*Note: This tehnically occured in the beginning of October. Due a mis-step on my part, this was counted in September's roundup. It will not be counted in October's. Sorry for the confusion, the roundup is in a transition period from bi-weekly to monthly!
There's a ton of powerhouses in the international scene, but who's this edition's top dog? Let's take a look at which players have posted the most impressive results over the past month.
Note: This isn't a simple prize-money or medals ranking. It is based upon a combination of overall player performance, quality of competition, significance of events won, money won, activity, and my most sincere attempt at unbiased subjectivity. It only considers performances in events which concluded within this period.
Strapped with a new team in It's Gosu, this beastly Canadian Terran had no hiccup in his recent line of impressive finishes. dde steadily climbed to the top of the heap in the 3rd Alienware NA Challenge, and narrowly escaped victory in the 3rd Shoutcraft Invitational as well as the ThermalTake Esports Challenge. In addition to these results, he picked up a Zotac Cup along the way. With continued performances like these, I think it's safe to say that dde is certainly a contender for top performing Terran in the North American region.
This consistent German monster blew through the 3rd Shoutcraft Invitational, slaughtering both DIMAGA and Liquid's very own recently resurging TLO with solid 3-0 victories. Socke then took down dde in the final with a strong 4-2 win. While he struggled to come up with the top slot in the Dignitas SCAN Invitational and the Razer Gosucup, he pulled through with a very nice 3rd place finish in each of these events.
As solid as ever, the Panzer General slammed his way through yet another monthly PolarfluKe event, a Zotac Cup, and the hugely competitive Zotac Cup monthly final. Along with this he barely came up short in a Gamecreds Cup and a 4pl.de Close Combat Cup, placing 2nd and 3rd respectively. The tanks of GoOdy keep on rolling out, and the medals keep on rolling in.
These two regional champions found themselves in massively lucrative events tailor-made for their taking. Sen and mOOnGLaDe were naturally invited to the Blizzard Battle.Net Invitational, massacring all opposition in the Taiwanese and SEA events respectively. I can't wait to see these guys at Blizzcon! If you can't be there, be sure to tune in as the lineup just keeps getting more and more monstrous.
Barely sneaking his way into the 3rd spot of this ranking, the man with perhaps the happiest smile in esports brought in yet another nice set of results. DIMAGA won an always-difficult Go4SC2 monthly final, a Gamecreds Cup, placed 2nd in a Gigabyte Cup, 3rd in a Teamspeak TLOpen, and also placed in the top portion of IEM Guangzhou. Beast.
Just when you may have started to doubt him, the most intriguing personality in all of Starcraft pulls through with yet another amazingly solid win at a massive event. The legendary Gracken not only pulled through with a 1st place finish at IEM Guangzhou, but he did it in spectacular fashion. After some icky performances in the group stages, IdrA uncharacteristically rallied back, slaughtering Koreans RevivaL (3-1) and PuMa (3-0). In the final, Grack faced an unexpected opponent in the punishingly underrated Finnish powerhouse elfi, and took the tournament with a 3-1 victory. In addtion to his IEM performance, he placed 3rd in a TLOpen to boot.
Look who's back. Not only is he back, he's back with a whopping TWELVE top 3 finishes this past month. To put it in perspective, the next best guy had five.

Hey everybody, sorry about the long delay between the last roundup and this one!
I recently moved to California from Michigan to work in the videogames industry, so I've been awfully busy. This will continue on, but will likely be a monthly feature rather than every 2 weeks from now on. Thanks much for your comments!
@Mikliatov : Cosmos didn't won Gamecreds #33, it was Artist on Cosmos account. Liquipedia and the original thread are normally correct.
Furtheremore, I suggest adding a new category : Newcomers where you can put into the spotlight the successful newcomers of the weekly cups like monchi for the last month.

Thanks for the info, and the suggestion. I've thought of this as well, and started highlighting such players in the honorable mentions previously, but have since stopped... Quite honestly this thing is a LOT of work as is, but perhaps I will try to more often highlight such players. (Would have probably been Monchi and Attero for this past month.)
Nerchio owning a bunch of online tournaments! Probably shouldn't continue this train of thought. Want to see him in some LAN tournaments to see how he stacks up against all the top-top tier players someday.
IdrA on the list (FINALLY) makes me happy. I hope he continues to impress for the near future. ^^

Nerchio is a beast. Poland now has very good zerg in line-up ( Nerchio , Tarson , Mana ,DieStar ) Still big Idra Sen Dimaga fanboy ( as zerg player ), but when nations will clash i for sure root for Nerchio <3

Was very happy that IdrA finally won another big tournament to back up his 1 MLG victory, but it looks like Nerchio is definitely the overall king of online tournaments lol.. He was pretty busy last month
Well Nerchio is doing so much online stuff since he is bit young still and finishing school. I hope once he is done with school he will try to go PRO. I'd love to see his zerg style on this big events.

It's just me who compiles this article. I love Goody and he's one of my favorite Terrans, but that's unimportant as I don't consider such things when compiling the ranking anyway.
He gets mentioned/places almost every edition, doesn't he? If you're wondering why he's not higher, then the answer is generally just because the other guys just performed better. It's as simple as that. Goody usually is top 3 in medals, but his wins are almost always in smaller cups and tournaments with much less competition.

I've attempted to contacted Playhem a couple times in regards to results reporting, as I haven't found an accurate way to record any of their events. I can't report results of things if the events themselves don't report/post/keephistory of their results. I struggled to find a reliable source. If someone has one, let me know. Additionally, there is a prize money cutoff for the roundup, and Playhem just recently entered that range, I believe.

Well Nerchio is getting better at LANs. Won WCG Poland (never lost a map), and placed 2nd at WCG Euro Championships.

that's cool, i always look forward to this, i try to catch a lot of the online events but always useful to see what i may have missed/overlooked

I'd like to see Nerchio start participating in more (and hopefully placing in more) LAN events. He's wrecking the online tournies, I'd love to see more of him.
I liked the "icky performances" in IdrA's little write-up, hahaha. I'm glad to see Greg playing better and I can't wait to see his improvement after his next stay in Korea.
I love the tournament roundup its my favorite thing to read here. I gotta say goody is super solid hes always making it into honorable mentions and top three.

120k will be nothing compared to October with IPL, ESWC, MLG, Blizzcon etc etc.
then again 120k is stilll really high considering some months had <50k
For comparison, August had 260k and July 192k. But September didn't have any big events.
We need sustain growth though, not just peaks here and then.
Well I am not sure that is true exactly, also it comes down to how many big tournaments are held that month and MLG has not been putting hardly any money on the table for the players.

He is not satisfied don't worry. He was mentioning how he can't wait to play huge competition. He will however continue with his studies in the near future so I'm not sure how much he will actually focus on going pro in SCII.
He will be at the Battle in Berlin and ESWC Grand Final in the very near future however where there will be some TOP competition (especially Battle in Berlin).
I always see people calling Nerchio a maphacker (obviously not here) because of the disconnect between his online and LAN performance. Is there any truth to this or has he beaten good players offline before? I'm just curious because it's pretty rare to see a player who does so well online yet has never really done anything at LANs and it's not like hacking is something pro players have never been caught doing (hello BW!).

There is no disconnect. He has done well on LAN. At Global Challenge Cologne he won his group without dropping a map (defeating Tarson, HuK and Moonglade, 2-0). The only reason he was knocked out was because he played PuMa (the champion).
He won WCG Poland over MaNa and Tarson also on LAN. Placed second at SEC losing to ToD in a close 3-2 match. He beat ToD earlier in group 2-1. He also beat aTn.DarkForce, NightEnD and others in this tournament.
What disconnect? He has performed on LANs you just haven't been awake
Nerchio is so good it's retarded. Why, oh why don't I see him demolishing offline events too? I want to see even more of him, even as toss. His playstyle is sooo unique. PROUD2BEPOLISH, Poland FIGHTING
