Come on, comparing MC's troubles to Jinros is a bit much. Jinro struggles in open bracket MLG, MC still places at least top 3 at every foreign tournament he attends. It's not like he hasn't done anything new, he HAS developed a new style with his stargate play and zealot archon and phoenix in PvT, etc. just as much as any other protoss. It's like people forget he's by far the most innovative Protoss in SC2. He's having a hard time in Korea like every other protoss ATM.

11 top 3 placements in major tournaments, 2 being GSL wins, and people still act like he only ever won a game when he 6 gated. Really pisses me off.

Loved the interview with Wolf, glad he likes Korea so much - but I don't agree with him on the MC take though, its true he abused protoss timing attacks to take championships; however, to say his macro oriented play is way behind others is wrong imo. He's just in a flat out slump right now, in fact I would even say that he needs to do some of his classic 2 base gateway pushes again from time to time to punish players being overly greedy against him.

For instance in his PvZ, until the recent code A games against monster, he would go his stargate macro build every single game, which is borderline retarded because players were putting up spores without even scouting him because they knew the void ray/phoenix pressure was coming, causing him to be way behind without fail. Its tough to win when opponents know what build you are going to go for even before the game starts =/

I think Wolf's assessment on MC was a bit unfair. After his 2nd GSL win, he was the main pioneer of Protoss macro builds, having by far the best mechanics of all Protoss players. He used stargate play every single PvZ even if it would put him behind. He knew he could outmacro his opponent regardless and be safe vs every all in. Remember NASL finals vs Puma? If it weren't for EMP, and sick timings by Puma, MC would have easily won, out macroing Puma so easily. Remember IEM where he maxed out when Puma had 130 supply? Sure, he lost that game, but to say he was simply a cheesy all in player who couldn't macro is very very disrespectful.

He is simply in a slump and I fully expect him to return. Protoss players just need to find a way to win again.

Great Write up. I hope your finals prediction comes true, but i would love to see JYP take it all! And finally, the Yugioh preview versus Curious split my sides with the previous GSL performances. Too bad there wasn't more to write. Damnit...
