Money might move the world, but there are other things also. And many people decline better salaries for whatever reason, your coworkers being one of them.
As for your first question, of course he is allowed, no one is preventing him. But in the same vein people can move on from being his fans.
Good for me I never was big fan of his, recently started becoming one, but that will easily stop now  I am sad for Liquid and his teammates.

Oh Lord it just dawned on me now.
I knew confirmed with absolute certainty EGHuk at 390ish in the announcement thread, at around 1400 KST iirc. It has been 2+ days that that thread was running, and the last 24 hours have been totally insane, like llama insane. If from a fans point of view it was extremely anxiety-inducing, i can't imagine how it must have been for TL, especially Nazgul!

as unfortunate as this is, this is E-sports taking its first steps to becoming "legit". Contract negotiations are a part of every other sport, and thats becoming the case now

Sad to see you go, Huk. I can't say I don't hate your decision but at the same time I respect it. Business is business - that's the way of life. I have always rooted for you and that won't change regardless of your tag.

You are missing the point... You don't make a fucking countdown and ARG just to announce a player transfer. OF COURSE people were expecting something bigger. Although I admit that some speculations such as TL-EG merge were kind of absurd.
