He played the best he could regardless of the outcome, as if his only goal is to respond to what is going on in the game, not to think "oh no, I'm going to lose" or "alright, I'm going to win", but just evaluating the game at any moment and focusing on the GAME.
I think a lot of people in his place would freak out over the option of losing code S and start sucking. He didn't because, as usual, he focuses on the facts.

This is what people call him BM for (telling the facts as he sees them), but his fact-focus is what, IMO, played a big role in his psychological ability to take these games when many others would have failed.

So, I doubt he was sitting there through the game thinking "oh I'm going to lose anyway" but instead he was only thinking of what was going on in the game. That is a great psychological achievement that requires readiness to accept facts as they are and respond to them. I thought it was awesome.
