TeamSpeak sponsors 12 TL SC2 Opens

We are proud to announce the TeamSpeak TeamLiquid SC2 Open Series, a 12-tournament event that spans three months. Each tournament will have a $200 prize pool and will alternate between the EU and NA servers. The first tournament will launch on the EU server on November 27th (registration opens Nov. 23).

Our first few TL Opens were very successful events and we feel we're ready to host them more consistently. The guys that run TeamSpeak were already huge fans of Starcraft -- TLAF-Liquid's Ret in particular, so it was an easy decision for both of us to work together. TeamSpeak will also be providing us a dedicated server for TL users to chat together while watching events or playing Starcraft 2, so look out for that in the near future.

This is our first long-term sponsorship for TL Open so I hope the TL community supports TeamSpeak by taking the time to try out their program. We're all part of the same community and this partnership would not be possible if they weren't gamers at heart already.

Here are a few words from TeamSpeak's Peter Kirk:
Greetings TeamLiquid Community,

TeamSpeak has always been a "from gamers for gamers" type of company - in fact back in 2000 the very first version (TeamSpeak 1) was actually made because the available tools out there were not satisfactory so we made a program for our clans internal use. Today, 10+ years later we are still all passionate gamers, playing all kinds of games. Myself I have been playing StarCraft in a clan since a few years (first Broodwar and now StarCraft 2).

Naturally getting to know TeamLiquid is unavoidable as a StarCraft player, and we are happy to be able to give this great community something back by sponsoring these upcoming TeamLiquid Opens. Any of you out there that do not know TeamSpeak 3 yet should really give it a try. In my clan we use it as the main tool to connect the players. Hope to get to know some of you on the new TeamLiquid TS3 Public Server

Looking forward to some epic games!

About Our Sponsor

The TeamLiquid SC2 Open is proudly sponsored by TeamSpeak Systems GmbH, developers of popular TeamSpeak voice chat software for online gamers and now, with their latest TeamSpeak 3 SDK product, virtual worlds and integrated solutions. TeamSpeak enables groups of people to speak with one another over the Internet using their Windows, Mac, or Linux based computer, much like a telephone conference call. A TeamSpeak user will typically wear a headset with an integrated microphone and connect to his guild or clan's TeamSpeak server to chat with fellow team mates, discuss strategy in real-time, or facilitate online events.

TeamSpeak 3 features include: a global web server list, tabbed multi-server connectivity, tabbed text chatting, firewall friendly file transfer, user avatars, friends lists, and a fully customizable client UI supporting skins, sound packs, and plugins. TeamSpeak Systems GmbH is currently sponsoring a TeamSpeak 3 Addons Contest and giving away over $7,000 in cash and prizes, so go check it out! TeamSpeak is FREE to use for non-commercial entities.

If you are interested in sponsoring a TeamLiquid Open or one of our other events, please see our advertising / sponsorship page.

Man I'm so excited. I participated in the last TL Open and it really gave me a feeling of what a tournament feels like. Though I lose quickly, it was a really motivating experience.

Got to train it now.

I'll definitely be able to practice for the later ones. Hope to do well. Teamspeak is awesome. I've used it to communicate with friends while playing Starcraft and other games like Call of Duty and America's Army. Glad to see they're still being awesome.

Exactly what this community needs, an ongoing, well run, high profile way for unknowns to make themselves known. Not that you guys don't have enough to do already but it would be cool to see a leaderboard of players' average results or overall records in these tournaments. Looking forward to trying TeamSpeak too, still haven't found a voice client all my friendslist can agree on.
It's supposed to be automatic but actually you have to press this button.

Are these going to be exactly the same process/format as the normal TL Opens? ie 512 players, same registration/check-in process?

I really enjoy participating in these events and look forward to it in the future!

Absolutely. TL Open is a format we don't intend on changing. If it's popular enough we could open it up to more players but the foundation will be the same.

That's a pretty sick sponsor actually.
I'm really glad TL is getting that kind of sponsorship and if it keeps going this way we may very well see some big companies sponsor TL by the end of 2011. Hmm.

As an avid TS user I'm happy to see them as a sponsor. I love how easy TS2 is, client and server wise, but I haven't tried TS3 yet. Didn't even know it was out yet, will definitely try it out.

And by the way, TS is awesome, I use it for a long time to talk with my Team Fortress 2 buddys, and now that many of them are also playing sc2, we use it to have some fun in 3x3 and 4x4.

And while the TS2 was great, the third version is even better

This is awesome... I would love to see a finals series after the 12 tournaments are over featuring the best performing players of the series.

Didn't even know TS3 had all these features. Seems to have improved a lot since the previous versions that I tried years back. I'll definitely be checking it out.

TeamSpeak, when they use Ventrilo. Good stuff XD Regardless, a pretty good sponsor.

We will have an official TS channel shortly, and once we do people can move over. Right now we're not ready yet so that's why our vent channel is still up at the moment. We will probably have both options available for a bit, but eventually the Vent will shut down. Just fyi, TS in now way requested that we do this, but we felt it'd be a good gesture and our admins that run the Vent channel prefer TS and were thinking of switching anyway.

will this mini-tournament be taking out the TLOpen or will still be a TLOpen???
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

These are TL Opens. Exactly the same, just a constant stream of them and with a consistent sponsor.

Anyone is free to participate...just be lucky you don't hit up someone like TLO in the first round(but he's gonna be at dreamhack anyway)...

Yes, there is. Register here for the tournament, get a.) a guest pass for EU server (here in the forums if you ask politely) or b.) a 2nd version of SC2 for the EU server. (via battle.net/eu/en)

Top line on TL says that there are still spots available... maybe it is just not updated since all remaining slots are reserved
