I'm being honest, it may seem like I'm some fanboi that can't let it go, but I literally watched the first game and was like, "What the heck is he doing?!"

Just watch it yourself, unless you aren't familiar with Jaedong's play style. Why didn't he just do his normal muta harass build? Flash went quick expo and Jaedong scouted it, that is an automatic win for Muta build. I'm still completely confused but I'll watch the matches again.

The first game was a supreme gambit. It was a brilliant build and he seriously almost had it except he was riding on such a thin line that a single blunder just killed him. That build was totally something that Jaedong would do. A prepared build that is totally ballsy, totally unprecedented, and extremely powerful. He just fucked up and stumbled on the line. I don't think you understand that when Flash failed in breaking through before the first defiler came out Flash was FUCKED. He was in a fucked up position and if he failed to break Jaedong when he did then he would have lost the game. And Jaedong was extremly close to that point. Jaedong got too complacent after getting his first defiler out and Flash took what was perhaps his only chance to win and he succeeded.

Anyone who has followed his career and watched him grow knows darn well something is up. I really have no idea what it is, but that is not the jaedong builds/timings/anything I have memorized and mimicked for years. As I poor over his book of builds and timings and strategies, I find nothing in regards to all 3 games.

Game 2?

People will find the excuse to say the dumbest things sometimes. 100% knee-jerk bullshit.

This.

People who say that Jaedong wasn't playing up to his normal standard, I don't think you realize how incredibly close the games were.

In game 1, Jaedong played an unorthodox build that *almost worked*. Flash was able to hit an extremely narrow timing against a build that no one has ever seen before. To say that it's Jaedong's fault that Flash was able to pull off such a feat undermines how difficult it was. It's one thing to hit the necessary timings against builds you've rehearsed against hundreds of times in practice. It's completely different against a build that is totally new, and we've seen Bonjwa-level progamers die to builds they are just seeing for the first time.

In game 2, Jaedong played totally reasonable with everything he could have known. He came out with a build order advantage, and did a very commendable job of stalling Flash's push for what little time he could. He was two mismicros away from taking the game.

As I said above in game 3, it's perfectly likely that Flash was going to research Goliath range first, especially since he lost to 2hatch muta when they played on Match Point last MSL. Had Flash not been able to narrowly trick his SCV into the natural, the game could have been a smashing victory for Jaedong, as there is no way that Flash would have gotten Siege Mode in time if he went Gol range first.

Flashius has roman suffix, while the article is about ancient greece. Besides that, great idea, great imagination, and nice work put into 1 article.
For that, flamewheel, we who are about to die, salute you !

I could not disagree with you more. Before jaedong even reached defiler tech flash was already well into Vessel tech with irradiate. Did you even watch the same game we did? Jaedong expanded, did nothing, scouted and saw fast expo, did nothing, had a drone in flashes base and knew exactly what tech he was doing...still did nothing...went straight for ultralisk tech......when he just scouted flash going straight for vessel, I can think of 3 jaedong builds he could have easily done to bust flash wide open.

I'm sorry but going ultralisk tech, then realizing you don't know wtf you were thinking and then switching to defiler tech...building 2 mounds.....W T F.....I've never seen a worse game in my life. Flash had the game the second Jaedong decided to play like an amateur.

He got his two defiler mounds before ultralisk tech.

You obviously didn't even pay attention. Nor do you even have the most primitive grasp of the game.

He was going ultralisk tech then crapped himself and switched defiler to save his trash. That was made evident by the double chambers teching when he didn't have a single melee unit..only mutas.

This is a perfect example of someone who knows nothing about jaedong talking out their ass.

In 2007 and 2008 Jaedong had an almost unbeatable ultra/defiler/ling build. There is no doubt in my head he was going ultra build because I have watched EVERY game he has ever played. How bout you do a little research before beating your chest brother? This WAS jaedong's ultra build that he complete F'd up and switched to defiler tech making 2 mounds in a panic, nothing you can say will change that because IT IS HIS BUILD .

Except he's never used a build like this before. This build was unprecedented. And if you even watched the game properly then you would have known that he was planning on going defilers immediately once hive finished, which he did. Is there even a point in arguing with someone that went on about evolution chambers in the midst of a 미친저그 build?

No there isn't.

Not only are your arguments completely wrong, but you don't even seem to have the capability to SEE what happened. You can't argue when you can't even get the indisputable facts wrong to begin with.

Why am I arguing with someone that thought a no pool 3hatch into 3hatch mutas was unfamiliar?

" This build was unprecedented"

"Why am I arguing with someone that thought a no pool 3hatch into 3hatch mutas was unfamiliar?"

By far my favorite part of your post. Anyone want to explain to the Korean what Unprecedented means?

His build is soo obviously Ultra build and yet you claim I can't argue it? Not to be a broken record here, but go back to 2007-2008 jaedong and watch him do this same build over and over to dominate Terrans, then in the end of 2008 and all of 2009 start the "cheese" that is the current most popular TvZ Muta build.

His ultra build was perfect until he went with the double defiler mound. Even if you do consider this build to be a defiler build...why then did he not build anything but defiler and mutas? He made what a total of 15-20 zerglings in a defiler build? Then ending the game with 6 ultralisks...yeah keep dreamin buddy...this was and IS his ultra build that he altered when he panicked.

Tell me when anyone has ever completely skipped hydras, lurkers, and mutas until after they started their hive in the past three years and when going in this "Crazy Zerg" route, they got double defiler dens BEFORE ultras. And no, he wasn't planning on going the typical Crazy Zerg build as he built his evolution chambers much later than you would with the typical Crazy Zerg.

Please find an example of such a game.
