I've never liked beer though, I mostly stick to hard liquor. Wine is fine on occasion, and I will occasionally do sake (recently found out I rather enjoy unfiltered sake). Actually I drink pretty rarely, usually I unwind by smoking a bowl.

There's an Oregon brewer that makes something called Occidental Hefeweizen which is fantastic.

Could any of you who are in the States please give me a shortlist of reputable (but not rare) microbrews you could potentially find in the NE US? Specifically, I have another trip to NYC coming up in about a month or so, I am mainly a fan of porters/stout/belgian style ales. I do not particularly care for IPAs. Cheers <3 Second in about an hour I'll be on playing some late night dota 2. EU or USE always fine by me. <3

I do enjoy Duckhead (I think it is); it's a milk stout that's quite tasty but IDK if that qualifies since I think it's less of a microbrew. We'll definitely have to go drinking sometime because we share such a love for good beer (aka not IPAs). IDK what it is but I've never been a fan of really hoppy beers.

Try all of those once (brand independent). I don't know about the availability of Kölsch in Berlin though. However if you're in Berlin, try "Berliner Weiße".

Jack Daniels is what's common/cheap out here, but that's def not anything special, lol. Tend to lean towards Rum and Vodka more. Rum and Ginger beer (Dark and Stormy) is one of my top mixed drinks. I was also fairly impressed with trying Whiskey with coffee ice cubes in it, would prob be really good with some quality ingredients.
