Let's play a game... |

baker is really palmar lol? second time you mislynched me ebdgame. and don't say I'm unreadable cause so many people would have known I was town there. This is just annoying.
After baker supports you as town, you have to be a dumbass all over again and he votes you on principle.
I didn't like your bullshit when you joined a newbie and proceeded to bus me without any discussion in the qt.... Leading to a ban.
And I don't like your bullshit anymore in this game.
Now post game, there is still no remorse.
You are the first person on my Mafia ban list. Congratulations.

There were basically four possible candidates for scum. Eccleston, HW, H3, PT. We were very misfortunate in that both PT and Eccleston got replaced, but even so, we should have simply killed all four of them and we would have won.
Instead we had some really retarded lynches. I know I contributed considerably to that by lacking confidence/time and whatnot, but we waffled between two scum day 1, killed one and then the other just got away with literally doing nothing. His replacement carried the game for him. He played it well by pretending to understand what I was saying and throwing me off. With the number of people who thought JP was scum I legitimately believed I was just being stupid.
The other thing is that out of this group, H3 looked incredibly town. He posted really stupid shit, but based on his vote pattern, his attitude/general not-give-a-fuck posting style and his activity he basically had to be town. No matter how bad you think he is you can't lynch him for simply being bad. Unfortunately there were too many reasons to believe he was town to warrant that lynch. Between Eccleston, HW, and PT, none of them did anything and they should all have been lynched early on.
The timing on day 3 for me was pretty bad too. I legitimately had to leave before deadline and I didn't think people would swing votes on to me. However it was incredibly frustrating to see everyone basically fuck off except for McGann (and MSmith was dead) who I felt was probably the only person who was properly reading the thread.
edit: also hopefully this teaches people that roleplaying != autotown. You have to analyze motives in addition to post content. If you post garbage but it's decipherable garbage, or you do it unintentionally, then it's possible you're simply trolling/misguided town. Purposely posting meaningless garbage is different.
Secondly, someone changing his/her mind is not a scumtell and never will be. maybe this teaches you not to suck and not getting yourself lynched.
You're kidding, right?
I took pressure on day 1 for attacking a non-flipped scum because I didn't fully agree with the main wagon. I had to justify myself for hours because people were incapable of reading my posts.
It's not always the fault of the player who got lynched for getting lynched. Both my lynch and JP's lynch were really really stupid.
I mean come on, I got shit for changing my mind about a read! How many times do scum just go in and reason their way out of a read when they are under no pressure to do so? If you had actually played the game on days 2 and 3 instead of asking and stroking yourself off maybe you would have realized that we had the game won, but what was needed was a good dose of order. Going afk and lurking for 144 hours is not a great way to accomplish that.

I had a plan for this game, it just so happened that I no longer have the time to really devote to playing at a high level whatsoever.

lololol
I didn't really like how much time I had nor my play particularly either, but perhaps this contributed to the fact that I could not get my reads lynched.
I think that lack of confidence really showed.

Secondly, someone changing his/her mind is not a scumtell and never will be. I agree with a lot of this post and in particular one point from your next post.
It's not always the fault of the player who got lynched for getting lynched.
I dislike the common attitude of It was right of me to (call that townie scum) / (lynch that townie) because he was (playing badly) / (helping scum win) / (playing like scum). It's tempting to think that way because it allows us to think that we are so great and free of blame and that everyone else is at fault for our losses, but it's incorrect and detrimental to self-improvement.
Here's how I look at the game. Every townie in the game is trying to help town win. Every scum in the game is trying to help scum win. These are facts. So my job as an analyst, when looking at a player, is to determine which alignment they are trying to assist. If when analyzing a townie (such as JP) I come to the conclusion that they are trying to help scum, I very clearly came to the wrong conclusion. To say that I was right to call him scum would be very silly and just make no sense.
It's almost like saying: It was right of me to call that scum a townie because he was playing like town. No! Clearly you just fucked up and got tricked. Scum play like scum by definition.
So I don't think it'd be fair to put all (or even most) of the blame on JP/TB4/H3 for getting mislynched. They were all trying to help town win the game, but they were mislynched because the rest of town thought they were trying to help scum win the game. The rest of town was flat-out wrong, and deserves a lot of the blame. In particular I wish you guys wouldn't hate on H3 so much. It looked to me like he was for the mostpart trying to help town win the game, and it was definitely possible to read him as town.
But you have to realize that mafia isn't an easy game and I think people don't appreciate its difficulty enough. Just because it was possible to read JP/TB4/H3 as town doesn't mean it was easy. It doesn't make somebody an idiot or a bad player if they make a bad read or lead a mislynch. We all make mistakes. Townie lynches happen because the game is hard. Mafia doesn't just win 50% (or more) of the time for no good reason.
Congrats scum on the win and thanks everyone for playing. I really enjoyed the game and I can't wait for the smurf reveals!

I agree up to a point.
Part of being a GOOD townie is being clear and concise with your thought processes. I could not get that from H3 at all because, by his own admission, he wasn't having any and he was blatantly refusing to read filters and play the game. When your attitude is "I'm going to do nothing now, since we're going so well" which then progresses to "I'm going to do nothing now and were getting crunched", I ask: at what point did you plan on doing something? The only logical answer is never. If you sign up to do nothing then I ask you in future, please don't sign up. This doesn't just apply to H3, but Harntell as well. Even if you think your ideas are stupid, put them in the thread and we will judge if they're scum stupid or town stupid.
This was the perfect opportunity for people to get away from their bad metas, as I tried to. For some reason or another I'm considered a liability in most games and I wanted to come out and make a statement that I'm trying to shake that image and improve. I just can't fathom why youd sign up to a smurf game and play exactly the same way you always do when you have this golden opportunity not to.

Adam not trying to say this in a rude way but what is your problem with my play? If you were unable to determine my alignment than that is your own fault. I gave plently of content for a townread.
I am actually proud of my play this game and in future games I will endevour to maintain this high watermark of quality.
|
I'm not trying to be rude either, I'm trying to make everyone else's (and my) life easier.
One practice I try to stick to is to phrase my posts in the form: -Statement -Reason
For example, your first post: "McCoy is scummy as fuck" (the statement) -Reason (????? Nothing)
Yes, later you give a reason (he was wishy washy), but only after someone asked you to.
Again, in regards to Davis' case on you: -I think this is self explanatory *vote* (statement) -reason (???)
Same again here, later you give a reason, but only after msmith prods you for it.
Try and give a reason for saying what you are saying as you say it. It gives people a view into the window of your brain.
Just making statements and not qualifying why you are saying them is a big part of the issue. Another is an outright refusal to read filters. If you are not going to examine people's posts, then I don't even know what else there is to do as town other than sit around and wait to be attacked. If you don't have time to read filters, then you don't have time to play mafia, mafia IS reading filters. That's what the game is.

that is all a matter of effort what you are talking about. my current effort level is not illegal is it? I don't think its bad for the game you are complaining aboutt me for no reason.
|
|
It's not illegal, it's just a hinderance to your team if you roll town. Wouldn't you want to give your team every chance to win? If the answer is no or I can't be bothered, then that comes under "play to win".

your play was fucking awful and you know it.
Sure, there were plenty of reasons to call you town but if there were five of you then the game would have been impossible to win. The only reason your play was even tolerable was because you were the only one who was that worthless.
Learn to play the game and dial back your ego. I'd suggest watching some newbies or reading some guides.

I don't think I would ever have guessed that Vivax was McCoy.

whos shraft never heard of him

He's played a couple games over the years.
I played a mini with him back in 2011.
And Kitaman, Wiggles and HiroPro were not in the game. LIAR!
I'm glad, i seem to end up tunneling Kitaman every game we play in. Don't want to ruin my average.
