British Empire Mini Mafia II + Show Spoiler [Important Posts] +
Introduction: Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules: Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox, or really any screenshots of things from the game. 6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host. 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. 9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits. 10. Sharing accounts with other players unless cleared by the host in advance. Otherwise, only you may post on your account. Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.
Posting: Mod Font: This is mod font. It is reserved for moderators. Please do not use it.
Rules specific to this game are also shown in blue text in this thread.
Question Font: This is question font. Use it to ask the moderators questions about the rules. Please do us a favor and read the rules before you ask anything.
Activity: You must post in this thread once per 48 hours while you are alive. I'll probably try to warn you first, but if you fail to follow activity rules, you will be inactivity modkilled. If you are inactivity modkilled, I will be very sad ;_;
Off-Topic: Try to stay on-topic while playing. I'll let you know if it's off-topic.
Smurfs: If you want to smurf, let me know. Smurfs are welcome.
Hydras: If one of the players would like to hydra with someone else, that is acceptable. Please inform me. Your hydra can have any name, but the signature should be something like "Hydra of Blazinghand and WBG for British Mini Mafia II" so that people know what's up.
Spam: Try not to spam. If it happens, it happens. Sometimes you gotta double post and so on, especially if it's a slow day and nobody else is posting. Don't worry about it too much, but try to consolidate posts when possible. If I think you're spamming I'll tell you to stop. Not stopping is strictly prohibited.
Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing is not allowed. Do not edit posts. You get one (1) warning for editing. After that, you will be modkilled.
Inappropriate posts: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host, Flamewheel, or Mig before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
As a general guideline: Stuff like "this argument is dumb because XYZ" is fine. Stuff like "you are doing ABC, which is dumb" or "you're dumb because you do ABC, and ABC is dumb" is fine. Stuff like "you're dumb. lolooloooo" is not fine. Insults and abrasive play happen, but it must all be oriented towards trying to win the game. Don't be that guy. The main thing is: don't insult for the purpose of insulting only. I'm very verbal about people getting out of line, so if you cross the line I will let you know.
Reporting posts: The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to the host, co-host, Flamewheel, or Mig before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately.
Ban discussions: Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win. This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. If you're not playing to win I will modkill you. But this won't be a problem, because if you don't want to win you can just not sign up k?
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.
You have been warned! bwahahaha
Voting rules: 1. Voting is done in the game thread. Do not PM me your vote. 2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote Blazinghand. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance. 3.5. If your vote is on someone, make sure to ##Unvote when you vote someone new (you can do this in the same post). 3. No conditional voting. 4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game-- or rather, such votes will not count. 4.5. You can vote for a no-lynch if you want to. 5. This game follows an instant simple majority lynch. The instant a player has the majority of votes on him, the day ends. So if there are 8 players you need 5 to lynch, if there are 7 players you need 4 to lynch. 6. Voting by the end of a mandated cycle is mandatory. If the day ends due to a lynch, it's okay to not have voted. 7. Once a majority has been reached, please do not post until the night-post.
Signups:
Eligibility Anyone may sign up for this game if they have played at least 4 games on TL Mafia. If this is your first game on TL but you have played elsewhere and want to sign up, please PM me and we'll work something out.
Invites This is a NON invite game. Signups are totes open.
Game-specific rules: Modkills: This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. If you want to use this game to sit out your ban, please PM Flamewheel or post in the Ban List, and also type /sitout in the thread here.
Replacements I love replacements, but I hope never to use them. There are 5 replacement slots, so sign up if you're interested. Replacements will be made up until the start of D3. You're encouraged to find your own replacement if you need to replace out, and if you do so, I will smile upon you.
Clues: There are no clues.
PMs PMs are not allowed in this game.
Time Cycle: This game will follow a night-less/deadline-less day cycle. The day lasts until a majority is reached. If enough time passes without a majority being lynched, I will post in the thread and state a deadline for a no-lynch in order to prevent horrible 3-week-long days where nothing happens. If a day happens to be long but discussion is still moving, I will not do this. You may not post at night. The night lasts until all night actions are in to both me and the co-hosts. After that, I'll wait a certain amount of time between 0 hours and 12 hours, then post the day post. This delay is to protect the anonymiity of scum and blues.
Credits: Thanks to anyone who has ever hosted a game. This list grows ever longer. Special thanks to iGrok and Incognito for going over this setup with me. Thanks to Probulous since I stole this OP from him and modified it to my nefarious needs. Also thanks to Hapahauli for helping me with the instant lynch mechanics, and to Ghost_403 and Aquanim for co-hosting.
If you have not read all the rules, go back and do so. I might give you candy.
I am open to questions any time. If something doesn't make sense, please ask.

Roles and Setup information
Setup Type This is a semi-open setup. There are four possible setups, and which setup is chosen will be RNGed. The chosen setup is not revealed, but it should be deducable as the game goes on.
The Sun Never Sets This game will follow a night-less/deadline-less day cycle. The day lasts until a majority is reached. If enough time passes without a majority being lynched, I will post in the thread and state a deadline for a no-lynch in order to prevent horrible 3-week-long days where nothing happens. If a day happens to be long but discussion is still moving, I will not do this. Night begins immediately after the flip. You may not post at night. The night lasts until all night actions are in to both me and the co-hosts. After that, I'll wait a certain amount of time between 0 hours and 12 hours, then post the day post. This delay is to protect the anonymiity of scum and blues.
Loyalists
Colonial Governor (Vanilla Townie): You are a loyal Governor and support the British Empire. Your resources and power are now and forever at the disposal of the Crown. You are a VT. Find and destroy the Rebels.
Royal Navy (Parity Cop): You are The Royal Navy. Loyal to the Crown, you are the largest and best-trained naval force in the history of the world. Your ships and sailors ply the lanes of every sea and occupy harbors around the world. It is by your strength the Empire lives. Each night you target someone, and you're told if the alignment of your target is the same or different as your previous target. Your N1 check doesn't return anything, but is necessary for your N2 check to work. You can't check yourself. Find and destroy the Rebels.
Oxford University (Doctor): You are the oldest university in the English-speaking world, possibly the oldest university ever. Even in the bleakest gloom of the Dark Ages you preserved the knowledge of Man-- in a dark world, you were a beacon of hope. Now, scholars from around the world come to your halls seeking wisdom. Each night, you can save someone from the nightkill. You can't protect the same player twice in a row. You can't save yourself. Find and destroy the Rebels.
House of Parliament (Named VT): You are a house of the Parliament of Great Britain. You are not organized enough to get things done, but on the whole your loyalty to the Crown is beyond question. You are a blue with no powers. Find and destroy the Rebels.
Town Win Condition - The town wins when there are no mafia left in the game or nothing can prevent that from happening.
Rebels
Ungrateful Rebel Cell (Mafia Goon): You lot are faithless sons of dogs who would bite the hand that feeds them! Your hatred for the crown is unmatched, and though you are technically subjects of His Majesty the King of Britain, you hate him and his empire with all your heart. You are scum. You have no special powers. You win when scum outnumbers town or nothing can prevent that.
Foreign Saboteur Network (Mafia RB): You are an elite spy network operated by the Dutch, or the Germans, or perhaps the French... or maybe even the Americans! Your origin is unknown. You are working with malcontents in the British Empire to cause as much mayhem as possible while your mother country schemes against the Crown. You are scum. Each night, you can RB someone. You can RB and send in the factional KP in the same night if you are the last scum. The target, even if he is a VT, is notified of being roleblocked. You win when scum outnumbers town or nothing can prevent that.
Mafia Win condition - The mafia wins when there are no remaining townies or nothing can prevent that from happening.
Possible Setups A) 1 Ungrateful Rebel Cell, 1 Foreign Saboteur Network, 1 Royal Navy, 1 Oxford University, 5 Loyal Colonial Governors B) 2 Ungrateful Rebel Cells, 1 House of Parliament, 1 Royal Navy, 5 Loyal Colonial Governors C) 2 Ungrateful Rebel Cells, 1 House of Parliament, 1 Oxford University, 5 Loyal Colonial Governors D) 1 Ungrateful Rebel Cell, 1 Foreign Saboteur Network, 2 Houses of Parliament, 5 Loyal Colonial Governors
Each setup is equally likely. Who gets what role will be RNGed.
Sample PMs:
Colonial Governor House of Parliament Royal Navy Oxford University Ungrateful Rebel Cell, your QT: _____ Foreign Saboteur Network, your QT: _____

I'll be hosting another British Empire Mini after I host Witchcraft, so if you can't fit it in this round there's always next time. Since it's Instant Majority Lynch and there are no nights, it'll be a bit intense, so if you can't bring your a-game there is no shame in sitting this one out.

Day 1
Feeling every one of his 50 years, he lets out a long groan, and the King rises again to do the King's work, managing and leading the empire. He moves out to his balcony, where he is greeted by the morning sun. He is pleased, all things considered, to see the sunrise. The sun never sets on the British Empire, but it often sets on his particular part of it, and London has a tendency to be gloomy more often than warm. As he is dressed (for no King need dress himself), he finds a fresh report from his intelligence service on his desk. He flips through it, and finds himself reading a story of treason, and horror, and death. Still, he must read it in full-- no King flinches away from the truth.
He turns past the executive summary and peruses the first page.
Welcome to Day 1. This Day ends instantly when a majority is reached to lynch. After a majority is lynched, no-one may post until the beginning of the next day. With 9 alive it takes 5 to lynch.

Night 1
There's something beautiful to the art of the spy, the art of the saboteur. After all, who would dare plot against his own country? Even the loudest malcontents are, at their heart, simply malcontents. They are not leaders, they are not impelled by a desire to destroy their mother country. No, the way a spy turns his mark is more subtle than the suggestion of gunpowder bombs or setting fires to homes. He does not shove a gun into a man's arms and tell him to kill.
The first step is always to get the mark to commit a little sin. Something small, something that wouldn't be the end of him if it were found out. It could even be as innocuous as a meal out together at a posh restaurant, or a business deal between firms. Slowly, the spy develops leverage. A meeting becomes a favor, a favor a crime, and a crime something more. Each sin itself small is used to blackmail, used to coerce a bigger sin out-- and eventually, the spy owns the man's soul, for he knows secrets that would ruin him.
And then, only then, the spy hands the man the gunpowder or dynamite, the tool by which the final act shall be committed. Eventually, it is only a small step to sabotage a water line, it is nothing at all to light a house fire, it is meaningless to copy official documents. And so the spy builds a network of marks, owning each of them and taking from them everything. They are not malcontents as you'd know them-- respectable people, jobs with the Government, that sort-- and they serve capably.
Well, until one of them finds out too much. Even a saboteur makes a misstep once in a while. The poison pill he has concealed on his person kills him before his nationality is revealed. His papers-- forgeries. Who was this man of mystery who plotted against the Crown? For what country did he work?

Day 2
Sadly, despite the best work of the British agents, they couldn't locate the spy's network of ungrateful rebels in time. Though the saboteur was dead, a House of Parliament was destroyed by fire and gunpowder, left a smouldering wreck and a testament to the impotence of the Police. Many died and a crucial blow was struck against England that day-- for though they might ever quarrel and quibble, the Parliament does undertake the actual work of governing, and they are crucial in their support of the Crown. They died in the line of duty, as any good Englishman might.
DoctorHelvetica the House of Parliament has died in a fire!

Night 2
Where the spy's art is subtle and glorious in its complexity, so too must that be of the anti-spy, the policeman, the counter-intelligence agency. For every compromised governor there is another whose loyalty is unwavering, who would never betray the crown even in a moment of greatest weakness. Somehow, these distinctions mean less and less to the secret police in this modern era. Mistakes are made, always mistakes, and always the innocent are found wanting.
Some say that the industrial revolution took something from the Englishman, something irreplaceable, and left in its place only darkness, that our cities stained with soot reflect our souls tarnished by those children who died in sweatshops. They say there is nothing left of English pride.
They have never seen a loyal man go to his state-ordered death willingly and praise king & country as he is died, knowing that this misstep is minor in the course of an Empire.
Vivax the Loyal Colonial Governor has been Lynched!

Day 3
After the accidental execution of a loyalist, there was little the government could do in time to stop the next strike. In a way, it should have seemed inevitable that the other House fall-- for the Commons and Lords rise and fall together. The loyalists gathered their remaining forces, marshaling what control they still had over the populace to try to root out the rebels once more.
Hapahauli the House of Parliament has died in a fire!

End Game![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/OQSKAl.png)
...it was only the days following of the bombing that the rebels were found and executed. They didn't go down without a fight, but four of them were captured. At first, they wouldn't talk, but there are always ways to make men talk. They spilled everything in hope their lives might be spared. They died cursing the crown and all it stood for, traitors to king and country.
The King sighs and closes his report. In the aftermath, it seems like a moment of silence would be appropriate-- but the man has a country to run, and a people to lead.
Dandel Ion the Ungrateful Rebel Cell has been destroyed!
Mr. Cheesecake the Colonial Governor is victorious! thrawn2112 the Colonial Governor is victorious! Artanis[Xp] the Colonial Governor is victorious! Promethelax the Colonial Governor is victorious!
