I'm a little reluctant to phrase things like this because I'm worried it might make people less likely to reach out to coaches. Plus, I'm pretty sure this kind of thing is pretty hard to stop/regulate, especially in the case of RL friends. I agree that people with obs access should not be allowed to talk to players. Maybe we should add something where you have to inform the host that you're talking about the game to a particular person? Even that seems like a lot to manage and a pretty big burden on the hosts for something that should be pretty much common sense though. Edit: Yamato summed up my thoughts much better than I did above: On April 16 2014 04:17 yamato77 wrote: Obs QT would be cheating because of the nature of information in there. If an outside observer is just casually talking/discussing the game with a player, even if they discuss reads, it doesn't really constitute cheating. The player outside the game has no vested interest in the outcome of the game other than helping their friend, which is not something we should be discouraging. I'll put in a rule forbidding discussing the game with anyone outside the game if that's what the community wants, but it seems like it's overly restrictive and prevents people from learning the game quickly. If more people want a rule to that effect, please post here about it (I'm reluctant to add it based on what appears to be the requests of just 2 people).

Night 2 Kill: Shendelzare as Joaquín González (Citizen - Vanilla Townie)! Voting Thread TABLE OF CONTENTS: Backstory In the depths of the Saara Desert lies the Headquarters of the Holy Guardians, a secret cult with supernatural powers. Its purpose is to keep the Scarlet Menace from bringing terror to mankind. The Scarlet Menace are vengeful spirits who travels throghout the spirit realm searching for humans to possess. Each tim they kill a human, his enraged spirit becames part of the Scarlet Menace and starts to haunt humankind with his new brothers. Their objective is to grow in number. Killing humans is their way of not going extinct. Leaving the Scarlet Menace out of control is condemning mankind to extinction. They were first identified by The Sentinel, a now cyborg figure who lives in the deepest level of the Citadel, connected by cables and metal machines that keeps him alive for centuries and links him to all parts of the world. The Sentinel is able to detect the presence of these spirits around the globe. Incapable of moving, he sends one of the Apostholes to get rid of them. The Apostholes are figures with supernatural powers. Although not usually able to fully detect the possessed ones, they are able to establish a radius of where the spirits are located to build the Birdcage. Just one Aposthole is sent so no suspicions are raised when they arrive at the places they are designated to. The Apostholes are rare creatures with incredible powers that the Holy Guardians cannot afford to lose, although they have theCitadel Academy constantly training other students. So, it is also safer to send just one and believe in his abilities than risking losing more than one Aposthole in case of a mission failure. The Birdcage. is an energetic field created by The Sentinel's technology, which is able to separate the soul from the body of people who touches it. Its form resembles the half-cylindrical appearence of a common birdcage. By using establishing it, the Aposthole confines a group of people inside it.If the Aposthole dies, the Birdcage will last for three whole months. People inside it will be doomed if not able to find food an water inside its radius, and all they can do is to keep the possessed ones from increasing the Scarlet Menace from growing in numbers in the spirit realm. In the moment The Device (where The Birdcage is carried on) is activated, The Sentinel's voice echoes throghout the whole area with the following message: "Souls are corrupted and must be freed. It is up to you to decide who are the possessed ones and to eliminate their body in order to put an end to their agony. Humankind future existence lies on your shoulders." And so the game begins. Blazinghand's Generic Rules v2 Introduction: Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The gamers are all either Town (good guys), or Mafia (bad guys who are pretending to be good guys) and nobody knows who the Mafia is. Each day, everyone gets together and votes to lynch one player. If you are lynched, you are out of the game, and everyone learns whether you were Town or Mafia. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. Typically, if the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia. The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. A thread could very well have upwards of 100 pages over the course of the game! Make sure you can side aside at least 1 hour each day for playing before you sign up. Rules: Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox, or really any screenshots of things from the game. 6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host. 6.1. Whether or not you are allowed to post the wording of your Role PM will vary from game to game. 6.2. As a general rule, even in games where you're allowed to post the wording of your role PM, don't post the other stuff surrounding it (timestamps, who it was from/to, subject line, and so on). 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. 9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits. 10. Sharing accounts with other players unless cleared by the host in advance. Otherwise, only you may post on your account. Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe. Posting: Mod Font: This is mod font. It is reserved for moderators. Please do not use it. Rules specific to this game are also shown in blue text in this thread. Question Font: This is question font. Use it to ask the moderators questions about the rules. Please do us a favor and read the rules before you ask anything. Activity: You must post in this thread at least once per 48 posting hours while you are alive. If the day ends due to a hammer, voting is not required. If the day ends due to time limit, voting is required. If you fail to meet activity requirements, you will get a warning, and then get removed from the game. Off-Topic: Try to stay on-topic while playing. I'll let you know if it's off-topic. Masons: You can copy content, but not formatting, from your Mason QT if you want to copy/paste into thread. This way it is fakeable by mafia. Smurfs: If you want to smurf, let me know. Smurfs are welcome. Hydras: If one of the players would like to hydra with someone else, that is acceptable. Please inform me. Your hydra can have any name, but the signature should be something like "Hydra of Blazinghand and WBG for Purgatory Mafia" so that people know which two players you are. Spam: Try not to spam. If I think you're spamming I'll tell you to stop. Not stopping is strictly prohibited. If more than 10 posts on a page are yours, you're definitely spamming. If you post 4 or more posts in a row, you are definitely spamming. Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing is not allowed. Do not edit posts. You get one (1) warning for editing. After that, you will be modkilled. No editing. This includes indirect editing like linking an image, then editing the image. Editing your profile or signature are allowed, but if you try weird tricky things I'll get mad at you and do stuff. Yes, I'm being vague here, because it's fine to change your profile or sig or whatever, that's no good. Inappropriate posts: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host, Flamewheel, or Mig before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally. As a general guideline: Stuff like "this argument is dumb because XYZ" is fine. Stuff like "you are doing ABC, which is dumb" or "you're dumb because you do ABC, and ABC is dumb" is fine. Stuff like "you're dumb. lolooloooo" is not fine. Insults and abrasive play happen, but it must all be oriented towards trying to win the game. Don't be that guy. The main thing is: don't insult for the purpose of insulting only. I'm very verbal about people getting out of line, so if you cross the line I will let you know. I am not afraid to ruin a game of mafia for 10 people and 4 hosts just to modkill someone. The use of racial, ethnic, or gender/sexual slurs are not allowed in my games, nor should you expect them to be allowed anywhere on TL. Anyone using this kind of language will be immediately modkilled without warning. I haven't specifically outlined what exactly I find unacceptable, but err on the side of caution. As a general rule, I basically moderate entirely on my discretion. My goal is for everyone to have a good time. My co-hosts will also moderate entirely on their own judgement. Most of the time you will be warned directly and personally if you step out of line before any bigger actions are taken. The golden rule here is don't do anything I don't want you to do in terms of behavior, and act so that everyone has fun. Reporting posts: The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to the host, co-host, Flamewheel, or Mig before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately. Warnings and Modkills: If you receive an official warning, it's like getting a Yellow Card. Play on, but the next one will be removing you from the game. If you get modkilled, it's like a Red Card. You are removed from the game immediately, and may have to sit out the next game. Players who are modkilled will be modkilled immediately, but their alignment/role won't be revealed until the end of the phase. I also will often give unofficial warnings via PM. Think of this as the ref waving his arms around and shaking his head or something after a play. Not a Yellow Card, but I expect you to do better going forwards. Ban discussions: Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game. Play to win. This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. If you're not playing to win I will modkill you. But this won't be a problem, because if you don't want to win you can just not sign up k? This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game. You have been warned! Voting rules: Check the OP of the game I'm hosting for specific voting rules-- anything written there overrides this. 1. Voting is done in the voting thread. Do not PM me your vote. 2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote Blazinghand. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance. 3.5. If your vote is on someone, make sure to ##Unvote when you vote someone new (you can do this in the same post). 3. No conditional voting. 4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game-- or rather, such votes will not count. 4.1. You are allowed to self-hammer. You may even self-hammer if it definitely absolutely causes you to lose the game on the spot. This will make me hate you. 4.5. You can vote for a no-lynch if you want to. 5. This game follows an instant simple majority lynch. The instant a player has the majority of votes on him, the day ends. So if there are 8 players you need 5 to lynch, if there are 7 players you need 4 to lynch. 6. Voting by the end of a mandated cycle is mandatory. If the day ends due to an instant lynch hammer, it's okay to not have voted. 7. In Instant Majority Lynch, once a majority has been reached, please do not post until the night is over. Signups: Eligibility This game is open to anyone, but we are using Wisdom of the Crowds, see below for details. Anyone may sign up for this game if they have played at least 1 game on TL Mafia. If this is your first game on TL but you have played elsewhere and want to sign up, please PM me and we'll work something out. Special Signup rule: Wisdom of the Crowds If you do not wish to play with a player for any reason, PM me, if I receive enough votes against a player then he or she will not be allowed to play in this game. Your vote against a player will be held in the strictest confidence. You *must* be signed up to vote against someone. I reserve the right to override this rule, and also to bar players from signing up for this game based entirely on my own arbitrary judgement. Invites This is a NON invite game. Signups are totes open. Game-specific rules: Modkills: This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. If you want to use this game to sit out your ban, please PM Flamewheel or post in the Ban List, and also type /sitout in the thread here. Replacements I love replacements, but I hope never to use them. There are 3 replacement slots, so sign up if you're interested. Replacements will be made up until the start of D3. You're encouraged to find your own replacement if you need to replace out, and if you do so, I will smile upon you. If you see me posting in the replacement thread asking for replacements, ignore it. Clues: There are no clues. PMs PMs are not allowed in this game. Time Cycle: By default, unless stated otherwise in the OP, this game will follow a night-less/endless day cycle. The day lasts until a majority is reached. If enough time passes without a majority being lynched, I will post in the thread and state a deadline for a no-lynch in order to prevent horrible 3-week-long days where nothing happens. If a day happens to be long but discussion is still moving, I will not do this. You may not post at night. The night lasts until all night actions are in to both me and the co-hosts. After that, I'll wait a certain amount of time between 0 hours and 12 hours, then post the day post. This delay is to protect the anonymity of scum and blues. Credits: Thanks to anyone who has ever hosted a game. This list grows ever longer. Thanks to Probulous since I stole this OP from him and modified it to my nefarious needs. Thanks to all my co-hosts, from all time. If you have not read all the rules, go back and do so. I might give you candy. I am open to questions any time. If something doesn't make sense, please ask.
