There needs to be some new way of dealing with these increasingly prevalent and aggravating activity (or the lack thereof) issues. Too many people have simply voted/posted "as so not to get modkilled." If I am to host games in the future, I'll be following in Ace's stead and not accepting people that I know will not be active.

And I'll leave the "posting not to be modkilled" problem up to you. I don't really see it as something that the ban list should be dealing with. I think it is up to the hosts to determine what activity levels are acceptable to them and they should moderate based on their standards. If someone joins a game knowing that doing stuff like that is unacceptable to that host, then they are at fault for whatever punishment they get.

Hmm I guess a 1 game on Chaoser is fine. I mean I usually think the ban list exists to punish someone who is chronically inactive. I'd say give him a warning because he is consistently not an inactive player but now there is no point since he is already serving out one of his bans. I think maybe we should implement some sort of consistent inactive is rewarded. Like for every 10 games you play where you don't get modkilled you get 1 game mistake pass. I think that works better for rewarding good players and not arbitrarily banning people we would prefer to be in our games.

The first thing that comes to mind with a policy like this is keeping track of all of those players would be a nightmare. I agree that Chaoser might be getting the short end of the stick, but we're trying to make long term policy here. Are you advocating something more along the lines of what BC was saying?

Notice that immediately after my first two rage posts, I immediately tried to get back into the game and analyze it. And even in between my responses to the outsiders that entered the thread, I still tried to get in my analysis of the game,
Listen. After you asked me to be more active, I tried to be more active. I invested my time and heart into the game, and tried to revive a failing game despite active townies actively working, knowingly or unknowingly, to screw up the game.
Was those two posts any worse than the rage posts of some of the other well-known members? This almost feels like a double standard, of people really getting on my case whenever I call a stupid play stupid, but let established players say as please without consequences i.e. annul's game quitting threats.
It's not like I threatened a player or insulted the very humanity of a player. I merely expressed my frustration in all of TWO posts. Look at the game objectively please.

I don't see why orgolove should really get a ban. He was just being mad at how he perceived a "dumb town". It's like what I felt in...I forgot the specifics. But I was being dumb(again) and felt that everyone was following RoL's analysis of aidnai, which i felt was complete BS. Turns out he was right later on, but then I was so just...disillusioned I had to get myself replaced.

I didn't like the frequent use of "fuck" either, but I'm not going to push that as hard because society has become a lot more desensitized to the word. Regardless, I totally understand Incognito's reaction. Yes, orgolove was angry and whatnot, but if you can't get away with a post anywhere else on TL, you can't get away with it here. I am in favor of something harsher than a warning, especially considering that orgolove has been modkilled/banned in the past for aggressive posting. That being said, I'd like to hear the opinions of others, particularly Incognito and Flamewheel (who have promised me they will take care of this in the next few days).

I don't see anything wrong with what I posted. Sorry you took it personally, but I feel what I wrote is well in the spirit and rules of the game. Especially since your analysis was totally off base and wrong  You on the other hand, you took it way too far with your curse laden rant and your over the top replies to people criticizing you. At a certain point, you have to step back and realize this is just a game. There's no reason why you cant be both competitive and civil.

So. when I saw the whole town sheep repeatedly towards a player who did not play well, to put it lightly, I couldn't help but feel frustrated.

No. You have to realize this - Immediately after I posted the two rages, I went right back into the game, like any good player would, and tried to get the town back on track. Any sidetracked posts after this were directly caused by the nonparticipating outsiders barging in and derailing the thread. EVEN THEN. I still tried to keep going, and did my best to convince Shockeyy inbetween answering the hornet's nest of... demeaning remarks.
I was called a fool and an egomaniac, and then my entire efforts for the past two days were dismissed by a MOD as crazy raving. How can anyone stay calm in such a situation?
Pandain, to whom I had directed the two posts of rage and thus is the one with the greatest say in my "punishment," does not want me to be banned (and this was through no request by me - you can ask a mod if you wish.) Further, even though the OP of the mafia I participated in clearly states that I will be given a warning before being modkilled, the hosts ignored this and immediately struck me out.
Please look at the situation objectively. I don't deserve a ban for this.

1. elemenope's post was in a game hosted by Caller, and you already know that Caller doesn't follow the ban list, so his standards aren't reflected here. Beyond that, that game was played before the ban list was established.
2. xelin's post was in a game hosted by Ace, who notoriously has different posting standards than other hosts.
3. citi.zen's post was quoting something that JeeJee said in said game hosted by Ace.
The point is you played in a game hosted by Incognito and Flamewheel. They decide what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. They decided that your language was not acceptable. That is their prerogative. Heck, they even warned you in the OP that they have extra strict standards towards aggressive posting.
Disregarding the fact that you're taking the context away from those posts, Fakesteve is staff and gets away with stuff that you would not. Additionally, most of those posts are directed towards either Fakesteve's friends or inanimate objects (which won't be offended).
I can understand a little rage, but I still feel like you lost control and it had a negative effect on the game environment.
Regardless, what you are still failing to recognize is that I do not have the final say on this. This is just my opinion on the situation. Believe it or not, I do not make all of the decisions. In fact, I get overruled all of the time (look at the current poll in the OP if you don't believe me - I advocated 2 games). What really matters is how Incognito and Flamewheel feel and how everyone in this thread reacts to the situation.
I think it would be best for everyone if we just calm down and let this rest until Incognito and Flamewheel actually ask for a punishment.

The point is you played in a game hosted by Incognito and Flamewheel. They decide what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. They decided that your language was not acceptable. That is their prerogative. Heck, they even warned you in the OP that they have extra strict standards towards aggressive posting.
Disregarding the fact that you're taking the context away from those posts, Fakesteve is staff and gets away with stuff that you would not. Additionally, most of those posts are directed towards either Fakesteve's friends or inanimate objects (which won't be offended).
I can understand a little rage, but I still feel like you lost control and it had a negative effect on the game environment.
Regardless, what you are still failing to recognize is that I do not have the final say on this. This is just my opinion on the situation. Believe it or not, I do not make all of the decisions. In fact, I get overruled all of the time (look at the current poll in the OP if you don't believe me - I advocated 2 games). What really matters is how Incognito and Flamewheel feel and how everyone in this thread reacts to the situation.
I think it would be best for everyone if we just calm down and let this rest until Incognito and Flamewheel actually ask for a punishment.

Are two posts enough to have a "negative impact on the mafia environment" as a whole? You're giving a lot of credit to just two posts in a sea of threads with 1000's of posts...
Would you rather that players like me become inactive and not passionate about your games? Don't you think it's a bit draconian to be banning a player simply because of -two- rage posts, when he's otherwise been giving all his effort in trying to participate and make the game better?
If the point of a ban is, as you say, to make a better mafia environment, perhaps the person with the biggest say in this aren't the hosts, who after all, are third parties in the game, but rather the person who potentially experienced the greatest emotional distress as the target my -two- posts, Pandain.
And without any provcations from me (in fact, I haven't exchanged PMs or anything with him at all), he was one of the first ones to rise to my defense when I posted in this thread. (Thank you, by the way)
Moreover, you have to realize that, at least for the game I was a part of, the procedure would be to warn me for my -two- rage posts, then if I don't follow the warning, ban me. This wasn't followed through.
I hope you can see this.

I don't see anything wrong with what I posted. Sorry you took it personally, but I feel what I wrote is well in the spirit and rules of the game. Especially since your analysis was totally off base and wrong You on the other hand, you took it way too far with your curse laden rant and your over the top replies to people criticizing you. At a certain point, you have to step back and realize this is just a game. There's no reason why you cant be both competitive and civil.
btw, I don't think you should be perma banned, but this should act as a last warning.
