Not sure whether China is the only nation to do this or whether it's sort of(?) widespread, but that's sort of depressing haha, especially seeing how those who don't do well probably don't have much of a future ahead of them since they've already dedicated their entire lives to preparing for the Olympics in some cases... | ||

In China if you win gold you get 1.4 mil plus a bar of gold worth 1.6 mil right now. Not to mention what the state, city, district gives (City almost always gives a nice apartment over 1 mil. You can't even imagine how seriously China cares about the Olympics. I think by 2020 or at most 2024 China will be first in medals. | ||

But beating USA in medal count is really really hard. | ||
