It was perfectly fine to do what he did, it is legal. If all that flaming had not happened to the asian badminton teams, I wouldn't have said anything but Sebastian Coe called their behaviour unaceptable and did not have the same statement/punishment for his countrymen. Adding the fact the olympics are held in London I find all this very not ok. (I have nothing against englishmen in general, i'm only discussing this issue, and i'm also impressed by the cycling results) There was no rule broken. In the badminton they were fixing results... how are the two even comparable? They are comparable in the sense that the badminton players did not actually break a rule either, they were disqualified for not trying to win and get an advantage in the next round. - which is against the spirit of the Olympics. The cyclist here also did not break a rule but admitted to getting an advantage by questionable means. They both strictly did not break a rule but it was not very sportsman like. The cyclist lost his balance and fell, from there it's the judges decision whether they get to rerun is it not? As far as I can see GB did nothing wrong only the judges can be held accountable for any mistake?
It is what he said after that which made the whole thing a controversy, whether it is his English skills that caused a misunderstanding or he did actually do it, it left a bad taste in the mouth. I am a big supporter of GB but I dislike it when there is controversy surrounding events.

well, if you a quarter of your life is on those tracks, you notice very small differences. Its the same in swimming, there is hard and soft water for swimmers. And fast in this case is probably a property of the track that makes the times slightly faster :D
