Such a thing does not exist. The position of the IOC is quite clear that it does not rank countries, but only athletes. See here for further information.

Don't know but it's a bit of a cop out though because if you do want to sort it by totals at least have some sort of point system (3 for gold 2 for silver 1 for bronze) in which case China would still have come out on top on 2008 =_=.

Officially it does not exist, but in reality it is VERY important hence why countries like USA and China and extremely competitive here. It's one of the best ways to show off their countries power......
