Imagine the upside for SKT if Team S advances to the quarterfinals. They get validation as not just a "secondary" team to Team K and they get the chance to show what they're made of on the big stage and gives their newer players experience going against better teams. It also gives Team S's players a lot more confidence and when their newer players get more confident they start to play more consistently and really solidify their identity as a group of players playing the game the way they want to play. you guys talking about skt's motivations for throwing from a results and upsides perspective don't get it. if K threw their second game against S to increase the chances of both teams making out of the group, they were basically locked in to a "return the favor" throw should the situation occur where S's result against prime in the last match determined K's fate. the guilt from S and the blame/resentment from K would pretty much destroy the organization if K got knocked out of the tournament in large part due to letting S win a game. sure, but that's based on the assumption that K threw one game to S, which after looking at how they've been playing I'm not entirely sure is true.
K hasn't been playing all that well as of late plus S has shown that they're capable of taking games off of anyone if the stars align.

I'm pretty sure after the whole Savior thing the Korean esports scene is really sensitive about this stuff. SKT is like the number one esports organization over there and I don't think they would intentionally have S throw since all eyes are on them and the situation is obviously going to bring up some questions. Is it so hard to believe that a team can have good and bad days and it just happened to lead to this tiebreak situation?

teams have always done this 'strategic' manipulation thing, but they are not stigmatized quite in the same way as individual players in a betting scandal are. part of it is the rationalization that this maneuver is still done in the service of winning, but part is also about how kespa is literally these teams and the power of judging or moralizing is wielded by the same people running the show.
the fans may argue whatever but it's not of any consequence

the fans may argue whatever but it's not of any consequence yeah you have to look at it in the viewpoint of the real competition being SKT's supremacy over KT, not who is going to win a particular match.
