CLG don't need to win every lane. They have Liftlift and Aphromoo who almost never lose, Link almost never lose and CLG finally since Azubu Summer 2012 have actual jungler.
I don't want to ask for more :D

Except he doesn't draw any attention at all because he's always losing his lane and never putting on pressure. Getting first Blood as Renekton and being 11 to 9 and still losing a duel is unbelievably bad especially at the competitive level where you should never die 1v1 top lane in the first place. It's not like he didn't have plenty of time to shop or that he didn't know he was down on items, he just chose to be all around terrible as always. If they replaced him with someone who could actually win their top lane once in a while they'd easily be a top 3 team no doubt seeing how his team fighting isn't any better than anyone else in the LCS either.
And to say he roams more than Balls is an utter joke. There is a reason Meteos is able to invade pretty much anywhere he wants whenever he wants. Because Balls has his back. Would you trust Nein having your back?? He's also always around for dragon fights because he's able to bully his lane hard enough to show up for them most of the time.
Balls only downside is his seemingly really shallow champion pool, tbh. Although that seems to be a problem with C9 in general this season outside Hai.

Nien doesn't win lanes and doesn't draw pressure either.

holy shit dignitias is so bad sometimes. Like in their win over C9 they looked SO good but even in their win against XDG... Just sloppy and boring to watch

How can you draw attention when you're a shyvana and lost in cs against a mundo in pure 1v1, or just lost the advantage the jungler give you.
You should always ask more, that's how SKT T1 K is so good, just look how their laning phase is good, the same thing for the chinese teams the game fnatic vs RC is just incredible.

Meteos is invading because Hai is pushing like non-stop, not because Balls got his back.
And losing duel with 2k in inventory when Shyvana against you have 5 points in E already isn't bad as mechanical, it's just about mindset. He admitted that he made a mistake, now move on.
Are you drunk? Balls almost never grabs a tp. Balls is all about winning lane, then moving to dragon, then pushing as team because it's C9's playstyle. CLG doesn't need it. They have 2 won lanes almost every game and all what Nien and almost every other toplaner has to do in this kind of situation - just be in front, other will do a job.
Sometimes he plays amazing sometimes he makes abysmal plays. It's ok, he will grow up.
And yes, i'm fucking okay with CLG not changing roster more. If you cheered for them for 3,5 years, you would have understood.
And C9 don't really have shallow champion pools. They just play what they consider the best, that's all. It was same before, it's same now. I don't think that guys who once were as five in top-10 of Challenger not even being in LCS, can't play everything on decent level.

Then again, he's actually one of the better ADC's in NA LCS. Only ones I can think that are better than him are Dlift, WT, and QT. Take it as you will.
Sneaky keeps getting underrated because he isn't flashy like DL/WT/QT are, and because he's overshadowed by his god-tier solo lane and jungle teammates. He's actually incredibly solid, it's just that solid isn't exciting.
Just imagine if WT had never left, though...

Sneaky does his role exceptionally. That doesn't mean he plays at the level of Double or Turtle but he is everything C9 wants/needs from an ADC. C9 already has star power in two, potentially three, positions as is. All bot lane needs to do is not fuck up and get farmed.
