As a Dig fan who was really down on them keeping Kiwi, the last 4 games have been a really pleasant surprise. The team as a whole just seems to be communicating really well, and to some extent that might be more important than the pure mechanical skill alternatives to Cruzer and Kiwi could offer. Crumbzz is making calls, his teammates are listening, and they all have each other's backs. It's fun to watch a team with chemistry like that. I'm still not entirely sold on them yet, because some of the games have been pretty shaky (today's baron steal against XDG could've turned into a complete disaster), but I'm excited to see if they can keep building on their momentum. IEM should be good for them too, as it gives Kiwi and Cruzer more games under their belt with Dig.

Dyrus and Balls are good, but they don't have the same pressure to carry. I guess it falls down whether or not you value how hard a player can carry.

I'm not too sure what you are talking about here. Balls has shown he can carry his team. He has had multiple rumble games where he HAS carried the game.

Balls has shown he can carry his team. He has had multiple rumble games where he HAS carried the game.
But it doesn't fall on him to do it every game, he happens to carry games, which is very different than having to carry games.

When I think about 'best players' I always think of that Thorin question about aliens that come to earth and are perfect at LoL, and under these restrictions (no koreans, or no teammates, or etc.), what team would you make?
I would never put 'consistent' players on that roster. Cuz the aliens are fucking perfect, I'd put some of the streakiest carry pants players on that team, and hope to god their carry energy sync together to beat that alien team.

I am not sure people would agree on that definition of best. Be consistent is very important as well. When you talk about the best player in sports, it isn't just players that do great 1 game out of 5.

I think if Zion were on a more consistent team he'd drive people nuts. Right now coast's strategy is basically "Zion and ship better carry us or we have no answers". If they were a deeper team I think Zion's play would be maddening because he goes really ham pretty frequently. Sometimes it works - spring playoffs 2013 - sometimes it fails - summer 2013. A deep team with threats in every lane or a team focused on team fighting like c9 can't afford a to planer who's inconsistent and sometimes feeds (even if he is really talented). I do wonder how he'd play if he was on a deeper team with less pressure though.
