Having not watched much LoL, the casters seemed extremely solid. They talk up the teams and players very well and it really is no surprise why viewership has risen to the level it has. I'm glad I didn't hear about what the casters favorite games during the 80's were or what they did last week for fun instead of talking about the game and the players. Kept me glued to the production. Bright future.

I watched both TI3 and this championship. Honestly, the production value for LoL Worlds was better, but the actual games in TI3 were WAY better and far more hype making (for me) TI3 the better event to experience.

I don't know if I'm completely unbiased, but last year I was bitching at Riot a lot for their really poor production and how TI2 blew them out of the water. However, I have to say this year it's hands down better for LoL than TI. There was just a lot more coverage and improvements overall. TI3 felt really rushed because you had only 3 weeks so it was just game after game after game with not much in between. The fact that someone who wasn't even part of the Dota scene was the highlight of TI3 says a lot imo. The final games were definitely much better though, but that has nothing to do with production.

wait...what

If you watched the girl they brought in to do interviews/coverage (Kaci) was basically the only thing people talked about it as far as production goes. TI2 > TI3 didn't have any marked improvements. Interviews with the players were severely lacking.

oh okay, if we're talking solely about production sure. but there were a lot better things that happened at ti3, like, you know, the games.

don't want to talk for other people here, but I think it's undeniable that TI3 finals were wayyy better than LoL Championship finals.

This is what happens if you format the tournament so that the finals doesn't necessarily field two of the best teams in the world, what with the the weird round of eight seeds to ensure region representation rather than competitive strength, and the random bracket draws that gave strong teams like OMG the short end of the stick, made this tournament, one of the worst indicators for judging the strength of various teams around the world. Royal Club is an excellent team, but after a performance like this you really have to question whether they are the second strongest team in the world after SK Telecom T1.

You design a tournament with the thought of preventing a complete whitewash from the strongest teams available, then you don't get to complain that the finals wasn't the most competitive series possible.

Production actually means nothing to me beyond good sound. For me everything comes down to games, but I'm probably in the minority.

Kinda anticlimatic to have that happen after 3-0 dominance though...

Alliance and LAN Na'vi were definitely closer matched than royal and SKT. It also helped that they were both western.

I agree, as long as I get HD/Sound and good games I am happy, never cared much for interviews/hype videos

Games in S3 were good but the finals were bad because one team was clearly outmatched.

Yup hard stomps are rarely good to watch. It's part of the game though, and SKT is just way better. Sometimes you just get unlucky. Can't always have a series like Summer finals.

LOL finals did have better ESPN-grade production value. It's pretty obvious from the setup, pre-game production etc. Personally though, I preferred the intimate, nerdy feeling of TI3 with the smaller venue. Unfortunately Valve hinted that they'll be moving to a stadium next year so TI4 might become another "sports-like" event.

I'm having the most memorable day of my life. As I show little emotion as I do this interview.

Meanwhile we sit here asking where all of the crying hugging and stuff is, Riot pls.

the only thing that mattered was how ridiculously insane the 5th game was. it could have still been considered just " okay " without that, considering two of the games were one sided stomps.

even though it's a 3-0, there were still a good amount of amazing plays, especially in g2. i don't think it was that bad.
