They have the talent to succeed, clearly. Re C9 dominance - Its just one of those generational transitions Boxer -> iloveoov etc. They have amazing synergy, play a unique but basically uncounterable style that relies on basics and are really talented on top of that. Its not surprising to see that they are trouncing teams that were thrown together for the sake of being a team - having that kind of innate synergy is difficult to find.

They are often losing in initial kills / first bloods.

Yea their lvl 1s could be much better imo, but their early laning weakness probably has something to do with mechanics. But teams like CJ Blaze are still top tier, world class teams even though they also die early (mostly their bot lane)

But against better teams, it will matter, so they really should be trying to improve it to their best of their ability. To be honest though, the early portions of the game are about equal for all teams (look at worlds, and koreans/chinese not really winning the first few levels either) Its just when they do win the early portions, they roll and snowball hard.

You can go the opposite way here - The Koreans/Chinese have no way to properly evaluate C9 because they play so few competitive games. They have the potential to be a TPA-like enigma. People knew TPA was good coming into world finals, but we didn't know how good because they just beat the crap out of a mediocre SEA scene. The same story could be happening here

Even the teams that I thought were reliable like Fnatic and Gambit have been looking lost fairly often lately.

Remember Complexity and Marn and how BAD some of those games were? Coast/VES may be the two lowest teams on the ladder atm, but Coast wins their fair share of games (and were 2nd in the playoffs) and Velocity has quietly found something in the 2nd half of the season - and even in the first part of the season they rarely got murderized by the top teams. The NA scene is in a period of transition - the old guard are struggling and new teams are emerging that will propel the scene forward.
