The whole point of having terms categorizing champions is so that it's useful when selecting champions. "Tank" doesn't do that. You'd never pick Shen when you need a Bruiser. You'd never pick Irelia when you need an initiator. You'd never pick Amumu when you need a support. The term "tank" doesn't convey any information about champs like Amumu and Malphite to you. You don't pick them because they build survivability. Any champ can build survivability. You pick them because they initiate fights. So you classify them as initiators. Likewise there's nothing in Shen's kit that makes his role different from, say, Taric or Janna. He's a support--he has defensive CC, a heal, and a shield. Like even if you strip out bruisers/melee carries from the "tank" category, you can't classify Amumu/Malphite/Shen/etc. all in the same category because they don't perform the same role. Champs like Amumu/Malphite are initiators and champs like Shen are melee supports. | ||
