Is that normal in american sports? Technically it's normal in European sports as well but what happens is players all have Agents that just have "dinner" with each other and discuss things to get around this. Clubs kind of ignore this as they all use it so no one wants to shut it down unless there's some stink they don't like. E-sports doesn't have this but Riot has a fetish with copying aspects of sports.

If LoL were considered a sport in Europe and instead of TDK let's say it was UOL, what Riot did in this case wouldn't be legal since Fury was near the end of his contract

Wax is a true nostradamus in a hindsight. Don't think it's rip TDK though, level of midlane in CS isn't that high, so just waiting for Fury and getting carried by Seraph like it's TDKCS2015 should work out just fine.

The SBENU news makes me wonder about the state of finances outside of chaebols in Korea. At least, wealth interested in investing in esports. Is the most reliable financial backing there really essentially the whims of a limited number of clan-based conglomerates?

You are technically not wrong agents do play a huge role in European sports, but most Sports have a like 6 month graceperiod where you can talk contracts with other teams' players if they contract is running out within those 6 months.

Which also serves as the most recent example of verbal commitment meaning not a freaking thing in US sports, for that matter, referring back to the Svenskeren stuff.

Doesn't seem like team which is going to casually play games for half a year, so probably the buy-in?
